Hi everyone! I was reading my news feeds and I came across this today.

http://venom.crowdstrike.com

It's a major security vulnerability in the virtualization software in QEMU which affects Xen and its derivatives, as well as many KVM appliances. Any MasterNode running a VPS should be considered compromised and their logs exposed with this flaw until their host patches it. MasterNode operators will have to completely wipe out their VPS and reinstall from scratch once their host is patched, unless their compromised host had additional unpatched software that allowed attackers to install a rootkit on the host system.

It would be great in situations like this if there was a way for us to only use MasterNodes we trust, especially as this affects maybe 90% to 95% of MasterNodes.

i'm not sure how much value to place on above post from someone so involved in the XMR vs DRK thread
(and then clearly on the side of XMR) but i am interested to see if there is any truth to it.

edit : also she owes a certain person 0.4 BTC  Grin

US Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) director Jennifer Shasky Calvery said during a speech today that her agency is in the process of investigating businesses in the digital currency ecosystem. http://www.coindesk.com/fincen-director-examiniation-digital-currency/
is the foundation prepared for Fincen?
if there is any irregularities found with dash and its hit with a fine, who pays?  ( tante tried to answer this, thanks )
will my mn funds be taxable as capital gains tax?( if fincen get access to the reference node they will know my mn payments i think)
with a btc merchant license i may not be allowed to accept dash.
now im sure most US citizens know...US federal law makes it a felony to intentionally lie to government agents. It’s like being under oath any time you talk to a government agent – except that it’s actually worse: if you testify in a courtroom, a stenographer records your testimony in open court. But when you talk to an FBI agent, the only record of your conversation are the notes that the agent writes up back in their office.
cmon dash, we really need to be thinking ahead, i hope the foundation has plans for these issues.  http://www.coindesk.com/government-knocks-your-door-bitcoin/

Technically Bitcoin is a fork and Bitcoin Cash is the original blockchain. When the hard fork occurred, people had access to the same amount of coins on Bitcoin and Bitcoin Cash.- NIST

Also, Amazon has released a statement that their servers are not affected by it.

Great! This must be the first blockchain based voting process for a decentralized organization. I think this method will be used more in the future for many applications not only cryptocurrencies.
Sound great! Congrats to all!

None of this is new territory.

Its been raised a few times before, so the Foundation is well aware:

.....To be on the safer side, Evan should step down from the foundation as he could be seen as controlling the keys to the project.

This is not unique to DRK, its a risk that a lot of projects have. Bitcoin has a foundation that supports core developers, so while this is a grey area, it is not without parallels.

Bitfinex looks like the biggest troll of all...

I don't think this is reasonable, so I'll be leaving this exchange.
If they don't have time to change some labels they better close it.

Ok that's indeed unprofessional, hope they are not dealing with their security in the same way. I'll withdraw some of my coins from there just to be sure

@cryptoball We don't have any plans to rebrand DRK at this time.

I'm dumbfounded. DRK no longer exists. Period.

As if it's their decision to rebrand a product...?

Almost two months ago, Darkcoin (DRK) rebranded, changing their name to Dash (DASH). In two months, you still have not updated your site to reflect this change.

Today you had the nerve to suggest that you don’t have any plans to “rebrand” DRK?
https://twitter.com/bitfinex/status/598553421877157890

The decision on rebranding is not up to you. It already occurred. The fact of the matter is that there is no longer any such thing as “DRK.” It no longer exists. It’s now DASH. You have a lot of current and former customers wondering if you are as lax about other things, such as your security, as you are about updating your site. I, for one, will certainly never do business with such an unprofessional organization.
