On behalf of the Dutch government i wanna express my sincere apology to those countries that had their internet traffic running
through AMS-IX in Amsterdam today (the largest internet hub in the world appearently).

http://www.nltimes.nl/2015/05/13/outage-at-amsterdam-internet-hub-affects-much-of-netherlands/

For those complot-theory enthusiasts among you i just want to emphasize that :

A : The Netherlands was not fletching it cyberwarfare muscles here in a prelude to a possible WWIII
B : The Netherlands was not aware the superhub was even there ..  well, at least i wasnt .. and who put it there anyways ?
C : Appearently someone was having a bad day at the office as the outage points to human error in this case

so .. in short .. sorry and have a nice day.

i vagueally remember this came also up a few pages ago ? people asking if people knew it..
Its a bit weird to see our largest Dash volume 24h there (44%).
Cryptsy has 25.6% of Dash volume 24h currently.

This has happened occassionally in the past, I think is because they support SEPA so if someone from Europe wants to buy Dash that is an easy way to do it directly with cash, normally when the buyers are done their volume goes down. It would be cool to see their volume stay because it means more direct FIAT/DASH trading.

Your vague recollections are correct, the reason I asked was because the volume seems to have gone from nothing to top in a blink of the eye, thats a lot gone from cryptsy!
Did you see that there is no dash/$/euro trade or litecoin/$/euro are the markets active ?
I noticed that some people could not with draw and were complaining because they changed their policy making people have to register in order to get their balances out, also has paypal..

Dash is 27.3 times faster with syncing and updating than Bitcoin and 93.7 times faster than Monero. Bitcoin (v0.11.0) has a Tao ratio 11.2% faster than bitcoin (v0.10.0) release.
Dash (v.0.12.0.49) = Tao sync ratio = 0.15 seconds / hour of update || Dash (v.0.11.2.23) = Tao sync ratio = 0.24 seconds / hour of update. V12 versus V11 speedup = +36.5%
Bitcoin (v.0.11.0) = Tao sync ratio = 4.14 seconds / hour of update || Monero (v.0.41.1)  = Tao sync ratio = 14.2 seconds / hour of update

I'm a little concerned that the entire MN network can reach 80%+ compliance with a protocol bump within 48 hours, but that 96 hours after an MN vote is initialized, we still have less than 50% participation...and the voting process is not that difficult (log into VPS, type "./dashd masternode vote yea" and log off VPS).

The vote is open for 2 weeks.

If you look at the Etherum sale, most were sold at the last minute. People were (conjecture) waiting to see what was what.

Then there are those that don't keep up with the threads (or go MIA, see above).

Being on the wrong protocol means you can get bumped off the network, so I guess people check for some things.

Also, abstain basically = no. What's to say no voters can't be bothered to vote, because they have by default?

It's true that abstain is a "soft" no, but all abstentions become irrelevant once the preset quorum is reached (in this case, 50%+1). I doubt abstention is presently being used as a negative voting strategy, since a "hard" no would be durable no matter how many people had voted. At this point, abstentions look like apathy.

P.S. I'm wondering of Otoh's 25% of the MN network has voted or not. If not, it could indicate that he is reluctant to overly influence the project (unlike what some detractors have said) in which case it implies that only 25% of the network is not participating.

Thanks ddink7, this is exactly correct.

I was aware that the vote had a two week deadline and decided to leave it for a week at least before voting because of not wishing to potentially overly influence such a crucial vote, or appear to even if this wasn't the case, this also fitted in with my being afk traveling, I haven't checked this thread since page 4993 until today.

I had a good networking at the BitPay European HQ hosted FinTech conference in Amsterdam last week, meeting a DASH supporter who is looking to add substantially to his holdings and which I've offered to help him with when the time is right.

Today I met up with Holger/flare in Germany where I'm enjoying three days, it was him who made the MN vote for me - just as simple as doing a start-many but I hadn't yet looked in to it, really good to meet him, we had some excellent beers and very good chats, alles ist gut.

Bitfinex looks like the biggest troll of all...

I don't think this is reasonable, so I'll be leaving this exchange.
If they don't have time to change some labels they better close it.

What kind of outfit are they running, anyway? That's ridiculous!
