I was thinking about this earlier, does anyone know how hot GPUs run mining bitcoin? If that runs cooler I would tend to think the extra power draw and heat is because scrypt pretty much rewrites the entire ram available as fast as possible over and over again, whereas Bitcoin/Darkcoin would only use a small amount of ram.
Curiosity got the better of me... below are some test results for 2 x HD7950. Power is measured at the wall. Idle power is 210W. darkcoinhashrate: 3.80Mh/s temps: 52,57 power: 415W bitcoinhashrate: 1.21 Gh/s temps: 69,76 power: 680W litecoinhashrate: 1.34Mh/s temps: 73,81 power: 740W This may not be a valid comparison because I don't know how to optimize settings for bitcoin. All I did was fiddle with the intensity setting. Does 605Mh/s for each HD7950 sound reasonable?

Even if you use Bitcoin through Tor, the way transactions are handled by the network makes anonymity difficult to achieve. Do not expect your transactions to be anonymous unless you really know what you're doing.

I am also a little over half the power consumption mining Dark then any other coin. My room is also now bearable to sit in

Why does this garbage GPU miner not work on my machine ?
I get error -11
For AMD, use the latest driver.... 13.14 or something like that, not a beta, stable And the guys that are working constantly on these GPU miners for us are doing a great job, so I take offence to calling them garbage We have a difficult combo of 11 algorithms to deal with. The coin was designed to make it hard to transport to GPU so that the network could build slowly. There was a lot of thought that went into this coin, everything for a reason. Will do thanks, i think I have the old one. Much appreciate the dedicated and skilled work that goes into each and every line of hard won code. That's better I know it gets frustrating sometimes and we get grumpy Well I've got 13.12, it turns out, do i need the new beta 14.1 ? In fact I'll just try it anyway.

So I hear CoinJoin is in the works. What is the algorithm for picking CoinJoin partners? I looked on Github but I did not see any CoinJoin-related commits, except for one line in README.md. Is this the correct Github? https://github.com/evan82/darkcoin

Updated my CPU miners (when possible) to 1.3 (with ./configure CFLAGS="-O3 -march=corei7-avx"): CPU________________ | Hashrate (xcoin-minerd) | Hashrate (1.2c) | Hashrate (1.3) | Intel Core i3 530 | ~71kh/s | ~134kh/s | No AES-NI | Intel Core i7 2600k | ~183kh/s | - | ~450kh/s | Intel Xeon E3-1245 V2 | ~207kh/s | ~380kh/s | ~509kh/s | Intel Xeon E5-1620 v2 | ~201kh/s | ~384kh/s | ~529kh/s |
Thanks a lot for this new version! Will try to compile 1.2c/1.3 to Windows.

Is this the correct Github? https://github.com/evan82/darkcoinIt's not open source until it's released in the updated wallet. The developer, eduffield, is still working out all the kinks, he's almost there. We tested it yesterday and it was working really well. not sure if there will be one more test before it goes out??

Sorry for newbie question but I have been following this DRK discussion for a little while now and mining DRK in a pool with sgminer. I have previously used cgminer mining another coin and was wondering if it was possible to solo mine DRK with sgminer? If it were some help would be appreciated as it does not seem as straightforward as other coins. Thank you

NET HASH @ 6GH/s. It is amazing !!! It really is. Even if it was all GPUs, and everyone was using the latest and greatest patched SGMiner, you're still talking about a 2-2.2GH/s Scrypt-equivalent for a one month old coin. What have you unleashed EDuffield LOL?
