Hi,

We're interested in launching DarkCoin on our exchange this weekend.  I'm wondering if you'd be interested in a co-marketing opportunity with us.

I've seen a lot of exchanges collect bounties to offset the cost of launching a new coin and trade pair.  We've got pretty high costs given the amount of redundancy we put into our systems but I'd like to propose a different model that would help drive users to our exchange and awareness of DRK.

I'd like you to commit a pool of coins for giveaways.  Instead of giving it to us, we'd use it to draw interest in the new trade pair.  We'd give a set of coins for certain activities:
1) signing up to the exchange
2) executing a trade
3) tweeting about the new trade pair

Should I setup a wallet and collection donations for this?

Tell them to fuck off , you dont have to share your succes.
They will add us if they smart, because they will earn allot of cash with fee's.
bter is the only thing to focus atm.

Please, let's share the success with everyone. This is a good community.

I am thinking about starting a Master Settings thread for DarkCoin mining ala Vertcoin thread. I have a feeling that whale farms are around the corner, might as well let the cat out of the bag full on, so smaller miners can take advantage for a few more days. This is going to draw the top 3 mining hashpower amongst all coins pretty soon. At the moment not many know the hash/kW and temperature magic that is darkcoin.

For those bringing awareness about DarkCoin it in other places, please represent well Smiley

this coin has a bright future. if only diff wasnt so high I would gladly mine it.

I've got crap for mining, and I'm still getting about $1 per day (about a coin/day)

Also true, this is one of the few coins you can still mine with CPU.  Sure a GPU is maybe 5x faster, but that's better than most coins which GPU kills CPU big time.

For those wondering, it's about 3x as effective with a CPU (relative to GPU) when compared with scrypt.  For example, for scrypt I get 42 kH/s and 2600 kH/s with my CPU and 4 GPUs. For DRK I get 350 kH/s and 8000 kH/s respectively with the same setup.

SHHHHHH
It could help us. Some people are looking for a CPU coin to mine and dump on the side while GPU mining their favorite coin. In the process they might get interested in actually staying with DRK.

EDIT: They have NO volume, nevermind.

All these exchanges who have voting (mintpal, now cryptsy, etc) or who ask for money/coins to add your crypto to their site, they're simply exploiting the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Why would a developer have to pay an exchange who will make money with trades? Cause they created a shitcoin and are desperate for any occasion which will cause a rise in value. Exchanges know there are so many shitcoins so they know they can exploit the weak ones.

Look at Cryptsy as far ago as yesterday. They saw the potential with coin votes from Mintpal and added it. And they're in NO hurry to add the coin, they're milking the competition for all it's worth. From the TOP10 coins in the votes on cryptsy.com/coinvotes they made 35.52 BTC , that's 22 555 $ , 22 thousand dollars for letting retards with worthless coins fight it out. Look at the top 2 for an example of utter garbage coins.

Dark so far has not been pressured into paying anyone for anything, has slowly gained followers and is gaining momentum everyday. We're on almost all the biggest crypto exchanges by merit alone. BTC38 and BTER will come very soon and the timing will coincide with a few more betas and maybe a main release of Darksend.

I'm glad the devs aren't paying their way up top , that would not be true to the real value offered by Darkcoin and they know it. We have a solid foundation and with every step forward, price is rising and recognition is rising as well.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

Well said. There is zero reason to pay an exchange. It will be their loss for even delaying DRK.

Price is rising, recognition too and unfortunately difficulty as well Smiley Anyone else notice that difficulty rises at night like clockwork ? Yah the open window/cool temperature mods kick in ...

I finally got a chance to send myself some coin using the new darksend.  It really is elequent!  So simple, so clean, It's pure genius!

You can see here, I sent myself 5.25 coins.  One of the 3 transactions in the first table belongs to me.  Then below, you can see my 5.25 coin going to the address I sent it (well, actually that's not the address I sent it to,it's a type of dummy address, I'm guessing), and the 4.749 is my change, that came back to me minus .001 transaction fee (again with some kind of dummy address).  I don't understand how these "dummy addresses" work, or if they're what I think they are?  I'm wondering if our wallets create two types of addresses that correlate to each other?  It's taking me a while to learn this, LOL

From my wallet, it all looks normal, it's all done automatically.  Just beautiful!  None of the links in explorer actually have any wallet addresses, that is the kind that start with X.  I'm not sure if our wallets create hidden addresses now or what?  Regardless, this is a thing of beauty, truly!

Yes, either you have to lower your thread concurrency or something else (forgot which input is used to multiply with TC) anyway, it's usually the TC that you have to lower Smiley  Also, don't put your -I up as high as you can because it will actually give you more invalids and slow down your hash.  You need to experiment for the best -I settings.

I set to 10 for testing.

Concurrency is irrelevant as the GPU can't even be identified. Not even getting that far...

I did, but that failed to build the FGLRX. No useful error message. sgminer wouldn't even run...

Now the darkcoin-qt client spontaneously quit working and I didn't do anything to it... Won't rebuild either... ridiculous...

What would you suggest running on a 7970?

Unfortunately, you've reached the end of my limited knowledge.

It loaded and ran once... pushed out 550KH/s, then failed. Issuing the same command now is just black screen...

darkcoin-qt segfaults now for no reason, and won't rebuild, also for no reason...

I think I'm done messing with this.

Windows? Linux?  Ubuntu 13.10 (that miserable crashing salamander!)

If it's late where you are, maybe wait for the weekend and give it another try.  A fresh mind makes a huge difference, at least for me!  Sorry, I know your pain, been there a lot these past 2 months!
