Does anybody know why difficulty is spiking and dropping and spiking and dropping? I thought DRK was multipool resistant?

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

If you are having problem mining PLEASE come to the darkcoin efnet channel for help. You can connect by going to: http://client00.chat.mibbit.com and selecting "EFNET" from the connect list. and #darkcoin for the channel. Or you can connect your irc client to efnet #darkcoin. I arrived at the wrong time I assume, the channel is empty. Quick summary: I have 2 different rigs: Rig 1: 7950+290 Rig2: 290+290 7950 is stable 290 are stable for a while, then after 9 minutes i loose 0.2MHs on them. It happened on all my 290, it happened on various pools, when it happened a mine restart did not change anything, but a reboot gave me back my lost hashrate, then it last 10 minutes, then I loose my 0.2M again. I noticed the drop happened on the exact same second on my rig2 on the 2 290. I reboot, 10 minutes later, on the same second the 2 cards looses 0.2Mh. They did not become sicks, they are stable with 0.2Mhs less. I used Linux BAMT. I have no clue and appreciate some help. I was thinking it was the sph-sgminer but other seems to successfuly mine using 290. will offer a few coins if you can take care of my mental sanity. Have you tried sgminer with the 290s? I had some issues with my 280x's with sph-sgminer - once I switched to sgminer its been stable for several days and with some tweaking the hashrate is comfortably over 2m/h per card. Sorry, I missed your answer. Wich Sgminer can be used?

WOW - c-cex is not secure. polo is not secure. only crptsy [and mintpal] left... I really believe that when DRK gets attention, increase at least x3 fold, and generates trading volume, BTC-e would be a perfect candidate exchange to add it. If i were them, i'd probably remove feathercoin in order to add DRK... or novacoin, But until then, we are down to just one 'serious' exchange trading DRK not good Well, on the other hand, having been hit and survived, they may become stronger. Certainly they've fixed their loopholes! I just hope all exchanges remain open so that everyone can be on guard when something new happens, and fix any similar loops.

Well to increase the anonymity, just add another bucket!
A dual-trade
Then make the buckets send to each other back and forth with the mixed coins.
With this; coins taken from the pool is never going to have to be from the sender --> not traceable
I think the problem with this is that the wallet that initiates the transaction is the one that has to do the work (break up the payment and throw it into the pool, the client just retrieves what it's owed. Although the initiating client could foreseeably put it's amounts into several pools, but that requires a larger network of transactions happening. Right now, not that many people are trading coins at any one time.

Im currently mining at the official pool - with 8 m/h plus I generated around 8 coins over night. Anyone recommend another decent pool to try? Lotterymining looks interesting but the hashrate is quite low.
Still get the same number of coins paid out over a period of time. When we hit a block, you get more coins at once. It's a great pool, seriously!

Does anybody know why difficulty is spiking and dropping and spiking and dropping? I thought DRK was multipool resistant?
I think it's because people come in, try to mine, find it's not profitable and leave again. At current rates, mining is not profitable, not even close. But if you believe the coin will be useful and well accepted in the future, you don't mind mining it at current rates. Most of the people here that "believe" in this coin, and I'm one, don't want it hyped but would rather see it increase in value naturally. However, that'll be a pipe's dream, LOL. Cryptos are a rollercoaster ride no matter what!

What's wrong with freenode #darkcoin? I think (efnet) #darkcoin belongs to the pool bigc represents, but that's not a bad thing! Looks like they have a lot of support!

Try without a config file, it isn't necessary unless you solo or p2pool mine. If it still doesn't sync, then add the nodes at the beginning of this thread.

I got the idea that other coins were doing a lot better? I have such small "rigs", can't even call them that, LOL, but I get about 1 coin a day with them, so I'm cool too. Then I'm just as confused about the hit and runs, unless it's just a whale coming in to rape the coin at low difficulty, driving the difficulty straight up, then leaving 'cause they can't rape it like they thought (KGW)?
