An observational question that come to mind when seeing these potential gox coins moving around.

Imagine all these coins hitting an exchange in 1 day and you get April 11, 2013.

Will anyone care if they are linked, for example by someone they know such as a partner, to darksend transactions and non darksend transactions? E.g. Why did you mask that transaction and not all the others? What are you trying to hide?

Hi guys, I'me setting up a new p2pool
Address: drk.p2phash.com

Could some of you try to connect to it, I'd like to test what kind of load my server can handle. Since it's p2pool you won't loose any shares coming from another p2pool and local hashrate doesn't impact your earnings Smiley

no formal time frames I don't believe, but at the rate he's releasing fixes it won't be long.

Stable, reliable pool, try lotterymining.com instead of the huge pool

I just finished checking, and I don't think Lotterypool has had any problems today!  Come on over, the water is fine!!

This will probably be my next investment.. DRK or TIPS. Trying to understand the difference though. It a mixing service in both? Dark is a better name though.

Dark doesn't use a mixing service.  It is all done in the wallet, decentralized.  VERY different.  It is a no-trust solution.  With a centralized mixing service you have to trust the operator/system and if it is compromised, how would you know?

What's with the difficulty, increased from below 200 to over 275 now...

If it was down to 200, it's because the main pool went down.  We've been cruising in the 300 range lately that I've seen??

Small thing that has been on my mind a lot about DarkCoin.

On the main page it says 84 Million coins.

It makes it sound like a lot, but from the block size and bunch of other factors, didn't someone say we would only get to 10 million? Or 10 million in x amount of years.

My thinking:  If someone comes to read the specs, and see that 84 million DarkCoins will be around in the future, it gives the impression that this coin is less scarce that it really is.

Wouldn't be be better to give a rough outline of the predicted amount of coins that will be in circulation per year?.......to show people really how scarce this coin is? (and will continue to be, it's bloody hard to mine)  I'm sure this will help the value of the coin.

What are your thoughts fellow DarkCoin miners / owners / investors? Smiley

Yah, maybe it should read 84 million in approx 70 years, then 42 million in ___ years, etc...  Lol, I can't do the math, someone else do it please, LOL

Actually, the problem is that it's not so cut and dry.  You can't really predict how fast we'll get to 84 million.  If the difficulty grows, and we hit the minimum payout and it stays there in a predictable way, you can calculate it.  however, if the difficulty stays low because people are not mining, the reward will be higher, and we'll get to the 84 million faster.  I guess that's why it's the best we can do???

Message from the bittrex devs

Quote
Hi,

We're interested in launching DarkCoin on our exchange this weekend.  I'm wondering if you'd be interested in a co-marketing opportunity with us.

I've seen a lot of exchanges collect bounties to offset the cost of launching a new coin and trade pair.  We've got pretty high costs given the amount of redundancy we put into our systems but I'd like to propose a different model that would help drive users to our exchange and awareness of DRK.

I'd like you to commit a pool of coins for giveaways.  Instead of giving it to us, we'd use it to draw interest in the new trade pair.  We'd give a set of coins for certain activities:
1) signing up to the exchange
2) executing a trade
3) tweeting about the new trade pair

Should I setup a wallet and collection donations for this?

EDIT: They have NO volume, nevermind.

All these exchanges who have voting (mintpal, now cryptsy, etc) or who ask for money/coins to add your crypto to their site, they're simply exploiting the cryptocurrency ecosystem. Why would a developer have to pay an exchange who will make money with trades? Cause they created a shitcoin and are desperate for any occasion which will cause a rise in value. Exchanges know there are so many shitcoins so they know they can exploit the weak ones.

Look at Cryptsy as far ago as yesterday. They saw the potential with coin votes from Mintpal and added it. And they're in NO hurry to add the coin, they're milking the competition for all it's worth. From the TOP10 coins in the votes on cryptsy.com/coinvotes they made 35.52 BTC , that's 22 555 $ , 22 thousand dollars for letting retards with worthless coins fight it out. Look at the top 2 for an example of utter garbage coins.

Dark so far has not been pressured into paying anyone for anything, has slowly gained followers and is gaining momentum everyday. We're on almost all the biggest crypto exchanges by merit alone. BTC38 and BTER will come very soon and the timing will coincide with a few more betas and maybe a main release of Darksend.

I'm glad the devs aren't paying their way up top , that would not be true to the real value offered by Darkcoin and they know it. We have a solid foundation and with every step forward, price is rising and recognition is rising as well.

We'll said

To be clear, we (bittrex) are not looking for you to "buy" your way onto the exchange.   That goes against everything we believe in.  The request here was to get commitment to do some cross promotional giveaways.  Nothing from the request is being kept by Bittrex; we are only trying to raise awareness for the coin and for our exchange.

Outside of this, we have asked for a small donation of coins to perform our wallet/exchange stress testing with.  If this came across as a "pay to play" request, let me apologize, that is not the intent.  We simply need a way to stress our systems and verify that they are operating as designed.  I'm more than happy to return any donation (minus whatever txfees we incur) at the end of testing.

As a new exchange that is less than a week old, we are relying on the community to help us grow as we help the community grow.  We are software professionals with real world experience on how to deliver secure and scalable solutions.  Please do any necessary research on us to be assured.  We are being as transparent as possible.  We hope we get a chance to prove how we are superior to the competition.

Thanks
Richie

We have purchased some new hardware to help with the Official Pool and main website. It is being assembled right now and will be ready for installation sometime tonight.

DarkCoin - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615 - DarkCoin aims to be the first privacy-centric cryptographic currency with fully encrypted transactions and anonymous block transactions.

I didn't mean to attack you directly. When you look at these other exchanges (cryptorush asked for 300 DRK for listing, ended up listing us for free) (mintpal/cryptsy with paid votes), you know they are getting every possible revenue source, and I suggest you do the same once you get some volume. The shitcoins deserve to pay IMO, the devs are trying to make money more often than not as their main goal and should be charged for it.

Only important thing in my mind is giving legitimate cryptocurrencies the respect they deserve and build a portfolio of desirable currencies first and foremost. Although C-CEX and POLONIEX both got hacked and have horror stories, they were the first ones to adopt Darkcoin and were rewarded tremendously for it initially.

Good luck with BITTREX, site looks very clean and I'll be registering today.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014
