What do we realistically think Dark can hit USD wise in the next 18 months?
I'm mining this coin only right now because I can see the potential but I think Im well behind the curve in terms of number of coins sitting in my wallet - how many are you guys going to be happy with before you start mining something else?
When the price starts increasing I have never got enough. When it starts going down I was an idiot to ever get excited about this crypto mallarcky. I just keep repeating through these thoughts/emotions. Would like to go into cryosleep for 2/3 years and be put out of my misery on awakening.

$200. That's gotta be right, because then I can pay off my mortgage.

The price depends on so many factors... functionality, marketing, the price of bitcoin and the health of the entire cryptocurrency market. If bitcoin reaches 1000$ once again in the coming months and Darkcoin manages to promote itself as the main anonymous crypto, before others start their shitty clones of dark, I imagine it can be worth somewhere between 0.01 BTC and 0.1 BTC , which is still a huge range. That would put BTC @ around 12.5 Billion in terms of market cap and dark would be anywhere from 38 million to 380 million market cap. (presuming around 3.8 million coins at that moment in time and a price of 1000$/BTC. So somewhere around 3rd to 6th on coinmarketcap maybe.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5424980#msg5424980

Not sure why someone took a big dump on Cryptsy, but I just wiped it up. Thanks. Getting in on some of that sub-14 action myself. I still have plenty of Kleenex. More dumping please. Thanks. I seriously hope nobody ever sees this exchange out of context... too late.... text logged, userid crosslinked to database. 117,592 embarrassing scenarios of false, smear campaign set-ups have already been played out on illuminati quantum computer 2 miles underground. I'd watch your back from now on.

I have a quick question for anyone who can answer. Is it possible to anonymize just one .00000001 Drk? I am not sure I have digested fully darksend. Also could you "ping" addresses with the smallest unit of a coin and basically track them over time?

I think now the price of DarkCoin depends mainly on this: http://coinz.co.vu/diff/?drkDifficulty We have a good product with awesome funcionalities, with a dedicated developer, etc. It is a win-win bet and we all can see this. The problem is a lot of gamers are now mining and selling fast, because this is one of the most profitable coins in the market. This keeps the price low. We need to increase the hasrate to increase the difficulty, otherwise the price will not change. - my 2 cents -

That does make sense and would, all things being equal, stand true as with other coins.
But, somewhere in this thread a few days ago someone made the point that all the other coins holder will want to transact their own coins through DarkSend if they want to have anonymity. That means exchanging a few times to get darkcoins, both in and out.
The exchanges will be making a mint out of this, but it also means DarkCoin becomes a valuable commodity, which also has scarcity. Some will just convert their coins to DarkCoin to avoid the hassle. This reduces supply even further.
The one problem is the release of source code through open source. Being first to market adds value, but its potential is limited unless further builds and features can be continually added.
Not sure if a release through, say, MIT licence or something similar to restrict use of code to non-commercial is a viable option. That might depend partially on origin of any code used, willingness by devs and acceptance by community?

The price goes up, more people want to mine, more people mine, more demand for the conis etc. You're right about the win win also. I still belive that once DarkSend is out of beta, we can market the hell out of it. Hopefully get some great press and world wide attention. Thats the only reason Aura coin, or whatever it is called got some much attention, BBC and other other major news people picked up on it, and drove it sky high. The difference with DarkCoin is.....DarkSend and there is a real reason for high prices. I for one have my rig mining 24/7, and I haven't sold a single coin yet. hoooooolding!

I'm mining with 8 r9 290 cards and now got like 30 coins per day. Its a huge risk buying mining gear now. The 100 dollar doge days are over. But maybe good times will come soon nobody knows.. I suggest you to buy allot of darkcoins at this price.

Honestly I have no idea how that could be more profitable right now.. 4 290s right now has gotta set you back like 2000$ with the rest of the mining rig? 2000 $ is a bit over 3 BTC (3.18 right now). Let's say you have 3BTC just for round numbers sake and could get all of your DRK at 0.0015 BTC , that would mean 2000 DRK. How much time does it take for 4 of those cards to generate 2000 DRK ? By the time they are generated will the difficulty have shot up 3 or 4 times ? Seems like a lot of trouble to go through. Now if those cards will be used for other coins after .. maybe it's worthwhile. edit: just saw the post above mine - so with 4 cards you would get roughly 15 coins/day at current difficulty. which would be 2000/15 = 133 days or 4.44 months to mine 2000 DRK if the difficulty remains the same (which it won't). This coin hasn't even been out for 2 months yet , in 4.44 months who knows where it will be.

Right now almost every coin has a similar ROI, around 4 months, most scrypt might be worse, it depends what you mine, what you paid for the card and how much you pay for electricity.
