The Darksend conceptual wrapper will always suffer from idiots who rely on word association to inform them. Darksend will, therefore, always be lowered to CoinJoin, a concept which doesn't work.

Think 5 year old mentality and word association:

* Send

* Join

We have the capability to understand Darksend as a conceptual wrapper for the entire process, and something that Bitcoin doesn't have.

It is evident from what I have already seen that others don't and won't bother to do the work to read and understand it. They will therefore associate send with sending; mixing with CoinJoin and therefore the gmaxwell proposal which, again, doesn't work.

Cryptonote uses coin mixing as part of its process. Do you think CoinJoin when thinking about Crytonote's like Monero, Bytecoin, Boolberry? The cryptonote mixing part of the process is probably closer to CoinJoin than Darksend.

This needs fixing before it becomes ingrained in the minds of all the idiots out there.

The above quote is evidence that there's also the fact that some may have looked in to Darkcoin's DarkSend functionality in the past, seen that it was basically an implementation of CoinJoin and decided that it wasn't for them. Not everyone follows this thread and all Darkcoin developments very closely, so they may assume that DarkSend is the same as it was.

I'm thoroughly enjoying the fact that the price of DRK does not currently reflect that we are near open source AND will likely have instant transactions. 

The buy opportunities of the last few weeks will likely never be seen again.  I hope most of you were strong enough to hold or better yet, continue to accumulate.

The 'sell the news' aspect of the 'buy the rumor, sell the news' phrase might be a hefty one after Evan releases his paper. IMO.

Possibly.  But if his instant transactions solution is elegant, I think not.  Coupled with RC5 and open source, I'm liking how things are shaping up.  Anymore pullbacks are simply opportunity to add to positions.

Completely agree ('opportunity to add') but I still think we see the .007xxxxx region again within the next week (ie after Evan's white paper) before we zoom upwards more so. I'm willing to bet on that.

You and camosoul are the only ones making a big deal about an association with the name. However, trolls, whatever the name used for the technology, would still have made that dishonest association with CoinJoin.
The public outside bitcointalk won't make that kind of error. Why ? They don't know CoinJoin.
