I'm glad my idea of naming releases after eminent members is well received (tied for top and I haven't even voted ) To celebrate, I propose to have the first release in my name I think is fun to brainstorm about ideas, but naming the releases after individuals would be sectarian and uninviting to newcomers, just my opinion. If you are going down that route a better option would be to auction the release name and use it to fund development, like Android goes, KitKat, etc. I was just about to post something similar. Not a big fan of naming after community members either. Needs something more marketable to appeal to those outside of the "inner circle" of supporters. Actually, you changed my mind. I first thought naming after famous crypto people. Then I thought this should be about the community and encouraging people to join the DRK community. But I think you are right, it would not be seen as encouraging people in, but a little club. So my vote for the top one, should be changed to places that tried to ban bitcoin / crypto. As a Brit, I'd be very proud if one version could be named after Alan Turing. A giant of a man driven to suicide by the ignorance of a government.

I think an auction would be great. Since coins101 ignored my excellent famous explorers idea. Raise a bit of DRK for the dev fund / The Foundation.

It's not a bad idea. time for a quick fire short-list (with this added seeing as you're a DRK Knight of the Realm). Poll closing in 5 minutes. I think each person needs to decide whether you/they are investing long term or trading short term. If you are investing long term, then you cant react to every small piece of news, that is probably going to hurt you, don’t react emotionally to what you read in the forums. Assess the situation and then respond, yes we are now open source, and someone found a way to skew the masternode payments in their favor and will probably make 100 or 200 DRK out of that, the problem has a very limited scope and is not worth reacting to, is not threatening to the network at all. Evan will patch it and we move on. Only consequence a few masternodes will miss some payments while the patch is deployed, why is it such a big deal?
There is a new solution for payments already on testnet, this issue is really contained, it looks like someone will get a new PS4 out of it or something. Is that reason to dump your 100K investment? Think more before you act.
Fairly sure BagHolder010 doesn't really have a 100K investment. I am sure you are correct, I was just putting some perspective out there for lurking investors and newcomers. Please buy my order at .02 Mintpal because I am FAIRLY sure you won't. I would be happy to get my BTC's back even thou BTC prices are down. will have to go through my 40 BTC floor first. What's wrong I thought you believe in Dark being $20 then $300, wasn't that you? Lets assume you bought at the top of the market, we get it, there is people that bought BTC @ 1200 USD they must be concerned too. The short term market dymanics and the fundamentals of the project are independent from each other. I do believe that in due time you will see your investment grow, but it will take time because you invested at the top of the first bubble, same as the btc holders that bought at the ATH. Your options are to hold patiently as you can see the development is progressing fast and things look good or you dump at these prices and give other people the opportunity to get in at the bottom of the market. If you do the latter you would have effectively panic bought then panic sold which is the worst combination for any investor, my advice to you is to hold for a year if you can afford it if not then as much as you can to give the project the opportunity to mature. I hope you do well. God willing I can wait a year, I hope people here don't think someone would just put over 150k and that all he/she have. Thank you I hope you do well too. In the meantime, please educate yourself about how to store and protect your coins, having them in exchanges is not safe. Just go to darkcointalk.org and ask for help, use a different name if you want and just learn, it will grown on you and is honestly not hard.

So here we are with a vote for a name with no regard for marketing of the name or product. This is cool as a play thing but this isn't a toy and people could interpret this as us being really stupid. Which of course we are not. That does't mean I'm right, but what it means is that this could actually hurt more than it helps….If only by confusing people and possibly discouraging them with regards to the ''apparent'' vision or lack of it behind our efforts.

Just now: <evan82> I found out what's going on, I'll have an update out in a few minutes Edit: <evan82> props to whoever figured this out, pretty cool hack <evan82> I could use some help programming whoever you are Not interested. I'm not so good at C++, really. Btw, you should hire some real penetration tester, not me or what was the name of that guy?Ok, could the person who found the bug post here, I promise no one's gonna hate on you. Would be interesting to hear how long it took to find it, and how did you approach it? And also, would you help testing DRK in the future? About 6 hours to look through the code to get the main idea of darksend, 2 more hours (got lucky) to find this vulnerability and about 8 hours to code and deploy the exploit. I will definitely run some more tests with darksend. Will I help or just going to abuse it? Dunno lol. It seems to be more vulnerabilities in darkcoin. Code looks terrible (nothing personal ) Proof of identity: ./darkcoind verifymessage XwzmEE1cJ6HG84CgJvAt7ADmJ8W9Wh65Tq \ "ILLG8hT+bkKUDznBD8R+EGowIal/QFVhEJM2HvrAREeE+LXl++HqeI+Go9+976p7iZ7CTgybpTGIucb3ycMwwek=" \ "XwzmEE1cJ6HG84CgJvAt7ADmJ @ bitcointalk.org, darkcoin thread. This release includes: - Spork: True masternode payment enforcement and increasing masternode rewards - Masternode Hardening, I've fixed over 10 vulnerabilities in Darksend that could have possibly caused DOS attacks - Changed the way Masternode pinging works, using a timestamp calculated from the average block timestamp instead of the local time. This should fix some cases where nodes went offline after awhile. - Added a simple list that will provide who gets paid on what blocks. - Turned back on collateral transactions - Added collateral to the queuing process (dsa and dsq protocol commands) - Improved collateral strategy: Collateral is now paid in the form of mining fees. This creates a situation where to double spend the inputs, you would need to pay the miners higher fees then 0.1DRK (the collateral fee). This makes it impossible to double spend attack our collateral system. - New command "masternode winners", shows the next 20 payees - New Darksend branding What we need to test: - If anyone gets hit with a collateral charge, please send your debug.log and wallet.dat to evan@darkcoin.io- "masternode winners" must always be in sync across the whole network. We'll need to figure out a way to test this - Make sure the reward adjustment is working - Make sure darksend is working properly - Update pools and make sure the spork goes smoothly What should we name this release? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=579976.msg9073745#msg9073745I second Oblox's shades of black! I will definitely run some more tests with darksend.
Good to hear, your input is really appreciated. If you (or anyone else?) happen to find more bugs, I would imagine a bounty could be arranged. What do everyone else think?

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=421615.msg5424980#msg5424980

Have you asked yourself why you felt tempted to test the code and look for vulnerabilities and why you have the knowledge and skills you have that allowed you to do so? Maybe its so you can help. Think about it and then feel what is right, please and thank you.

Well, I'm still getting more coins. All network should be updated, it isn't enough to just commit a fix. Money is not my motivation anyway. Probably will donate this to some open source project.

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=579976.msg6335710#msg6335710Given what's been going on. This survey is a bit of a distraction and most people are either not paying attention or busy updating. I'll leave this poll up for a while. I guess we could (1) fill it in and come back to it tomorrow; or (2) run with one of these suggestions, and the person whose suggestion is in the lead gets to choose the first name, then when the dust has settled in a few weeks we could try again?
