There was misinformation in here, this is not just for masternode operators, this is for pools and end-users as well. EVERYONE NEEDS TO UPDATE.

I appreciate technological solution is key but there is also a need to properly communicate it to the community. Would not mind even a simple 5 or 6 step HOW TO guide on how to do the update attached to the official communication - not all of us are running the nodes since May!

Would not mind even a simple 5 or 6 step HOW TO guide on how to do the update attached to the official communication - not all of us are running the nodes since May!
Regular user: download new client, and use it. Pool and MN ops: should know how to update their pools and MNs! For MN ops that don't have a clue, see one of the guides darkcointalk, but the gist is simple - replace the darkcoind running on your MN with the new one, restart the MN from the local wallet. It's not difficult.

I thought Flare put it best We have (at least) three user groups
- normal users - masternode operators - miners/pools
For the security update ALL of these are affected
- normal users use the masternode list during Darksend denomination - masternodes operators are keen on correct masternode list due to MN payouts - miners/pools refer to the list to randomly choose one entry for MN payout
So if you are in one of these groups it is mandatory to update, the sooner, the better for the Darkcoin network.
Hope that helps, Seriously...our comms are shocking. I regret not having enough time to help.

Yeah I've heard other people say that but it never worked for me, and I can update a MN in well under 30 seconds. Always had to restart the MN locally. Been a lot of versions since I last tried that way though. Makes no great difference to me now since I have it all automated, I restart from local just to be sure.

Security updates should perhaps come with a protocol bump to kick all older versions off - might motivate people to update quicker!
If you're running a pool or MN it's your responsibility to keep the software up to date for the security of all users. Be on the ball or lose out.

I dont mean to be that guy, but this is something I've been meaning to say for a while...sometimes the pr work comes off as tacky/cheesy. Personally, I would drop the whole Darkcoin animal thing (owl/chameleon, awful), version names and put efforts into getting some infographics / videos done instead (and release them with Instant TX). I think two videos would be enough, first being animated (under 1m) which briefly describes darkcoin and how it betters bitcoin (Instant TX / keeping your information private) and the second video could go into more detail. Slighty off topic, but I like the way Tor is currently being advertised and feel its something Dark should consider. We could say it prevents people tracking your purchase and how this protects your data from criminals/hackers (if that makes sense?). Youtube has some great video animators which you can hire...might be an idea to chase this up. Although Evan said Instant TX wasnt quite ready for release...these videos might take a while to get the script bang on and then animate around that. Video one examples (light and fluffy, brief) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ultLPNj-a8YVideo two examples (more detail, longer) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEbCbp1vc9YVideo animators for hire: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCsXVk37bltHxD1rDPwtNM8QI appreciate everybody is doing there best and its not a dig at anybody...just wanted to say. It was a long night!
Still. The guy came here and explained approximately what he had done and that he was going to donate the DRKs to some open source project. props for that.
The MNs payments being made to him are his bounty for bug finding.
Sounds pretty fair to me... Your Ghash.io jpeg had me in stitches at work, especially the LoL next to sms notifications...
