In other news:

Stamp closing in on $390 vs Guvpaper.

Amongst Eliot Wave aficionados, speculation is rife over whether that's the "C-Wave" done with now or if there's still one to go.

EDIT: $390 Passed. Some battling going on over the spread gap but $400 appears in its sights.

Right now you have significant fractions of marketcap being traded daily - pick any commodity you like and trade the same percentages, you're going to get the same market behavior. Dump 1% of the entire global gold supply on the open market and see what happens to the spot price...

When the use of DRK starts to outweigh the trading of it, this volatility will reduce.

Nevertheless DRK should be expected to trade at a premium - it allows you to purchase/trade easily and anonymously. Market forces will dictate that premium and personal need will determine whether it's worth paying for any given individual.

I have now paid $5.50 to get my $5 item because liquidity is so low

But you have obtained it anonymously.  Grin

I think you're still missing the point... You're having an argument of your own.

If it costs me $7 to buy a $5 item, I'm not going to do it. DRK goes unused.

IF the ATM machine charges me a $2 fee to get out $20 dollars, I'm not using it.
What does some 3rd party's markup have to do with 'liquidity?'
The lack of liquidity is causing the markup at point of entry. Thus, choose not to enter.

If I kill my own market position becasue the liquidity is so low that I can't buy the DRKs to then spend on the goods/services I intend to buy with it...

This isn't about "to da moon" stop thinking about that. I'm talking about people actually using DRK to buy stuff. If they can't get the DRK without paying a premium due to lack of liquidity, they're not going to buy DRK. We've watched the charts several times. It seems like some hard buys show up, but then there's a huge gap and both sides stare at each other across the gap as the manipubots crap on it... It's already too tied up.
Ah, you're referring to the spread gap between buys and sells. That in time should narrow. BTC was the same way years ago. It happens in time.
My point is that, with liquidity so low, a person trying to buy DRK to then use in commerce, will create such a gap without filling the order. They have to keep bidding up and up just to get the DRKs. Then, they've spent more money than the item they're trying to buy is worth. Even the stupid get smart when they see their money disappearing. Just like how smart they get when they stare down the barrel of a 12ga.

Simple example: I wanna buy Widget. Widget costs $5 fiat. But, I would like to buy it with DRK. I try to buy DRK, but I can only get $2.50 of DRK at current price. Enter gap. I now have to pay $3.00 to get the rest of the DRK I need. I have now paid $5.50 to get my $5 item because liquidity is so low that I can't even buy DRK without fucking myself out of my own money. Thus, I don't use DRK.

We already have this problem.

Even less liquidity will solve the problem that was created by not enough liquidity?

That's like saying that if I shot myself in the foot, it would be all better if I shot myself in the foot 2 more times.

In the name of all Democrats: "The cause is not the solution." You can't make X stop happening by doing even more of what caused X in the first place.

Again, the Democrat Example: "We tried going batshit crazy off the deep end, and it didn't work. Ah! Because we haven't gone batshit crazy enough, and we haven't gone far enough off the deep end! If we do even more insane shit, then everything will work out!"

And in time liquidity will return (it's more so about lack of volume currently). All altcoins are experiencing lack of trade volume and as such the books are thin. Back when we were transacting 1000+ BTC, the spreads weren't that wide. To look at the on book order flow presently isn't entirely a great reflection of what will be in the future.

I agree with you. I understand how this works.

My point is this: If you are just barely breathing, and then try to hold your breath for 3 minutes... There comes a point of no return. Maybe if you had been breathing normally up to that point, you could have pulled it off. But you're already starved for oxygen, and now you try to hold your breath for 3 minutes...

The market is already barely alive. Cutting off supply isn't going to have the usual effect of driving up value, and we've witnessed this to be true. People are just staying out. Look at Doge. Why can it hold value in useless pump of extreme inflationary coin? The extreme inflationary nature means it has liquidity... People can buy it and then use it without fucking themselves out of position.

We should stop seeing what we want to see and look at what is actually happening. The evidence is right there... We're just not seeing it because we think we know how this shit works. Clearly, we don't know what we think we know or doge would be 0.00000001 - it's not. So, the rules we think we know clearly aren't applying.

We're decreasing liquidity at a time when there is already a death rattle as a result of not enough liquidity...

Maybe I'm overstating it. I'm not trying to claim that what I'm saying is the path we're on. It sure a shit looks like it... But it looks like PPC should have a market cap of 0. It doesn't... So, what things look like, according the the rules we think we know; it isn't working that way. Crypto changed the fundamental way we thought about money, but I think we have arrived at the wrong conclusions because what we thought we knew is not happening, at all, not even close.

The market is already barely alive.

The real market is still untouched. Pissant cryptognats are not the market we should be caring about.

Sellwalls being pulled like a parting army on Stamp. Panic setting in on the bid side. $2 away from $400.

The huge question for all traders now is - is that the last of the C-Wave or is there another one to go ? Some people will say goodbye to their bitcoin forever between now and christmas by making the wrong call. Others will turn in a healthy gain.

To be continued....

EDIT: $403 ! Stamp going vertical.

Nikkei 225 down 3.16% in opening 25 minutes of trading.

God knows how many billions wiped of Japanese shares in under an hour. Abenomics not working. Japan already spending half its annual tax revenue on servicing its sovereign debt. Abenomics was supposed to monetise the debt and get growth going again. Instead it's given the economy a pair of concrete wellington boots.

Things not looking too great for European markets opening in 6 hours. Draghi's bluff being called on OMT program. Markets will not like that.

....EDIT: Rebound now - back to -1.8%. Japanese markets indulging in a bit of bungee jumping. Pulling massive G-forces on the turnaround. Not for the faint of heart.

EDIT2: Down we go again. This new price discovery mechanism could come in handy as one of those negative-G simulations that NASA use to train astronauts.
