Right now I still have GeistGeld running on one or both of DVCstable01.DVCnode.org and DVCstable02.DVCnode.org so put them in as addnodes for now.

Soon though I hope to upgrade those machines which will mean everything on them going offline for a while. Maybe even both at once as gettign anything at all done to those machines takes forever so I might get them all done at once when it finally gets done.

I also have it running on CrossCiv.no-ip.org and UFBSH.no-ip.org ready for when the DVCstable nodes go down.

But so far the UFBSH one has no open ports because the router there apparently isn't fooled by socks tunnels into thinking a remote browser is actually in the building so I cannot set up its router until next time I am physically out there.

GeistGeld nodes are able to find one-another via IRC though. One hears that IRC servers don't allow coin nodes to meet on them but I guess that doesn't apply to all IRC servers or maybe not to all coins.

Hey markm  Smiley

Done - I'm seeing 6 connections buddy.

Well, so far it didn't jam up all the connection slots, even though it doesn't seem to be able to download the blocks fast enough....it's currently @ 1993623 & rising fast......giving the "bitcoind is downloading blocks......" error. Diff is jumping around the 50 - 150 level though, so something is working. Maybe. I'll let it run & hope the block download catches up before the connections run out....... Wink

edit:

"blocks" : 2152751
"difficulty" : 1318.96607892

By jove - I think this might work......... Grin

Down to only 4 connections now though.......

Once the blockchain had fully sync'd it immediately clogged up p2pool - but a quick wallet restart without touching p2pool cleared it. I'm now seeing merged mining work found, submitted & paid into the wallet for the first time!  Grin

Unfortunately, my btc share doa rate has gone crazy, but I'm gonna run with it for a while to see if it settles at a comfortable diff, then maybe it will calm down a bit. Thanks for putting up the extra nodes markm - seems that was exactly what was needed  Grin

edit: Bah......had to pull it from my node, it cluttered it up again. Damn, was so close..........

Hi all,

Would anyone want to enter geistgeld into the crypto bake off speed test? I'm curious how it would out.

Cheers

It was a little complicated as the wallet was launched from a command prompt, from memory there was never a GUI wallet.

I mined quite a few Geistgeld back in the day as well as Solidcoin, they both launched shortly after LTC.

I miss the days of only a handful of options of coins to mine Smiley

Is GG only run on testnet? I see that testnet has more blocks than the 99 I am seeing on main net.

Mining was run from a cmd prompt, I honestly dont remember if it was a built in miner or a third party miner such as cgminer so I'm not sure how you'd check which chain you're mining.

I also doubt Geistgeld is worth anything these days as it launched around the same time as LTC and Solidcoin but never really took off

I have the daemon running, fully synced on testnet and main, or so I think. The provided .conf file has it running on testnet by default and has more mined blocks than mainnet. So my question was, for the people who have it running (there are numerous peers on both test and main) which net is most utilized by peers. I am not trying to make money or mine it at the present moment, only preserve the blockchain.

I never even tried testnets, I figure I am running on mainnet.

I run nodes at LFM.knotwork.com and at UFBSH.no-ip.org.

It does have value because it is set up in the Galactic Milieu's "treasuries" system not just as a currency with a "treasury" but also as a "reserve currency" others can hold in their own "treasury" toward the value of their own coin.

Its "treasury" account on the HORIZON platform is NHZ-LPYW-WJKM-4AN3-AUWXS

A look at the Latest Rates include file ( http://galaxies.mygamesonline.org/latestrates.inc ) shows GeistGeld (XGG) is curently calculated (based on the "treasuries") to be worth 31.65606456 DeVCoins.

It can be traded on the HORIZON and STELLAR platforms, see http://makemoney.knotwork.com/
