do you ever feel like the language we use for cryptocurrency is kind of offputting for most people?
'Bitcoin' was ok for the whitepaper but coins sounds dinky, like little tokens or candycrush money or something. BitcoinCash is just terrible, it sounds scammy. Ethereum is an okay name for the platform but I think most people will think 'ethereal, intangible'. Before Ethereum I thought of ether as something that was postulated but doesn't actually exist, like phlogiston.
even the crypto- part. i know the cryptographic aspect is crucial and really interesting when you get into it, but a lot of people hate math. they'll think 'cryptic, weird'. i'm a math type but even i used to think 'cryptozoology' when i heard 'crypto-', i.e. shit that doesn't exist. then again i do like that stuff.
i feel that something like 'digital currencies' would be better received. i know it doesn't capture the intrinsic nature of this stuff and it could refer to other things. but it's not in use, as far as i know. if you say 'digital currency' nowadays most people probably think 'bitcoin' anyway. maybe we should do away with 'cryptocurrency'.

how can you be sure that Bitcoin Cash is a scam, I do not agree with your opinion.
I think now many altcoins are popping up one of them Bitcoin Cash and this could be proof that later this coin coin could be a future currency.
I hope you can see some positive things altcoin, do not always think negatively let alone underestimate it.

What do you think will the Metropolis Update do to Ethereums price? I read somewhere that it might not cause a big increase in price at all.

I don't think ETH will behave like that anymore,
it will rather react to things like BTC does, as in: absorb shocks quite well and go up at a faster rate for a longer period after good news.
The days of 100% jumps in a couple of days are over, but this is good.
Slow and steady wins the race.

Eth got hammered hard, but no worries I think it will recover in 2-3 weeks.

Metropolis Ahead: Ethereum Developers Set September Date for Testnet Launch. A launch date for the 'Byzantium' testnet, the next critical step toward a major upgrade for ethereum, has been announced.
The testnet will be deployed on September 18, following a discussion between ethereum core developers today. Byzantium is the first of two phases in the 'Metropolis' update, set to be followed by 'Constantinople' at a later time.

Indeed China has big impact of cryptocurrencies it's very big market big whales are belongs to this country. But cryptocurrencies are now become the reality so it will stay here and will grow more strong in future this is just beginning phase of adoption.

I agree but do you agree that eventually there is going to have to be some kind of consolidation?
ICO's have been a problem (UET) and surely the market cant handle the ever increasing rate at which new coins come into existence.
Surely at some point there has to be a consolidation or at least some level of barrier to entry for a healthy market long term that is accessible to the general population.

You have to remember the current "market" size.  The current global crypto community is only a fraction of possible future size.  Ethereum is very young, and the ICO craze is only a handful of months old. The market is still constantly growing. Look at address count. Look at transactions/day count.

We still have quite a while before we see any sort of consolidation, IMO.

In a way, it is really 100% FUD, even if China did actually close down all of their exchanges (which seems very unlikely). Ethereum would continue down its roadmap, dApps would continue to be developed, corporate and retail adoption everywhere outside of China would continue to grow. If you are Chinese living in China, it makes 'some' sense selling if you are worried you might not be able to get CNY for your cryptos for a long time to come; if you live outside of China, absolutely the only reason to sell is because you expect the price to go down for a while and want to buy back in lower.
There are no fundamental failings, the sky isn't falling, the price will still make new highs at some point in future.
