Hi,

Apologies if I am asking something which has been asked already.

The fork is going to be split in two different coins?

I have my ETH in my ledger Nano S wallet, do I need to do something to keep safe my eth and use them in the future?

Thanks!

No, you don't have to do anything. It is a fork that won't affect your ETH. Doesn't matter where you have it stored ( hard wallet, or exchange)

Byzantium, the first part of ethereum's long-awaited Metropolis upgrade, has officially launched on testnet.

The simulated hard fork was executed this morning on Ropsten, the ethereum testing environment, and is expected to run for a few weeks of troubleshooting before the fork occurs on the main ethereum blockchain, currently the world's second-largest by market capitalization.

The testing period will involve a trial of the nine EIPs (ethereum improvement protocols) to be introduced in the Byzantium hardfork. As previously detailed by CoinDesk, the code updates will introduce changes to increase the functionality of the network while minimizing potential exploits and also paving the way for novel cryptography on the ethereum platform.

So a soon lot of changes coming with Ethereum in terms of blockchain hard fork. Many times I see the Vitalik is specifying after two Ethereum will be in good shape in terms of the transaction. Can we believe him because sometimes the transaction is too long for sending and receiving?

You can still buy a lot of Ethereum dark and help the dev raise the price a little more before they dump it to 0. Wink

Ethereum's Byzantium testnet just verified a private transaction. The effort to bring the privacy features of zcash to ethereum took a step forward today during testing for the upcoming Byzantium upgrade.

A zero-knowledge succinct non-interactive arguments of knowledge, or zkSNARK, is used to prove that data is valid without actually revealing what that data is. The technology sits at the heart of the zcash network, and recent months have seen developers moving to integrate the privacy tech into ethereum.

Earlier today, the zkSNARK part of a zcash transaction was verified on the Byzantium testnet. While only a trial, the development is a critical step toward bringing that kind of functionality to the public ethereum network.

As previously reported, testing on Byzantium is expected to continue into October. Byzantium's formal introduction will then introduce the gas-subsidised pairing checks and elliptic curve operations that make this kind of verification possible.

I agree with that. There will be a short term price consolidation in the future.

The developers behind Raiden Network have launched an early version of the scaling solution on the ethereum test network.
Designed to power projects aiming to replace the likes of Google and Facebook, one problem facing ethereum is that growing to such scale would require putting an unimaginable amount of data on the blockchain, a shared ledger every node must download. Further, ethereum is already having enough trouble supporting the relatively small number of users it has today.

ETH sideway action is caused by the ecosystem.......as it grows it becomes the likes of water.....individuals in this ecosystem depend on water..,.
as the individual count rises (icos, gas) then more eth will be needed for then to run and or survive.....
it's going to be a general up trend with sideways dips with a general direction of up or moon....

I believe ETH and BTC will be up more and more.

Lately they have been going down more and more, what makes you think that will change any time soon.
