If I were to choose between holding bitcoins against alt coins given the same amount if fiat money, I would rather just invest in alt coins because of how much potential they have in possibly beating bitcoins out of the competition. Alt coins maybe hold the key to beating bitcoins.

I am not agree with your opinion because bitcoin is the most reliable currency of this market and it is always rise before all other altcoins and altcoins follow him. We can expect lower returns from bitcoin but other altcoins are risky because those are highly volatile.

Why I do not go with this analysis is because you only base your point to swapping of BTC to BCH. You never consider what if I intend to sell my BTC when the price moves from $7500 to let's say $8000. That's cool $500 profit, I can then use the money to invest in other coin.

There is no risk of investing in cryptocurrency, if you do it with a smart head, not a hot one. You have to learn a lot of subtleties that would get at least crumbs.
