Update from scrypt Admin

Update: Aside from the stolen coins, there's no other damage done. We have found the entry point and we're ready to move on. We're in the progress of installing a new server and should be back in business within a week.
There's a lot of speculation regarding KHS/BTC balances, all balances will be rolled back to the last backup before the lock down.
You will be forced to change your emails, password and PIN upon your first login. (These are hashed but it's good practice to reset after a breach like this).
It was a big blow, but we'll come out stronger then ever. We appreciate the patience and all of the kind words we have recieved. I'll update as we make progress.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I am sad that there are so many people here actually who are happy at this.  It does not reflect well on you.  Many scrypt.cc customers are very stressed about this and they don't need trolls filling up this thread with hate.

We will see, if the site is back up in a week or so, then we will see whether it is a scam this time.  But please stop blaming the victim, even if it does turn out to be a scam I don't blame the people who got hurt.  It is just evil to blame them.  You need to blame who is at fault: the hacker is the real bad guy, and if he is imaginary then the real bad guy is the company.

Let us all hope that this is not a scam and that the company will come back.  I do not hate you if you are a cc customer, I hope the best for everyone.

I would like to say you only one thing. If I would be a scammer I would steal the money and talk to nobody in forum.

I have no doubts you will act as you stated when you become a scammer Grin
But the thing is that in reality a lot of scammers (Hashie, AMHash, LTCgear, GAW, Hashprofit, PBmining and others) communicated in one way or another after the scamming actually happened. There are various reasons for that. One of them is to discourage people from immediate action against them by feeding victims with absurd stories about how they were hacked, police confiscated miners, mining farm was stolen (wuut? Shocked Grin), miners stopped mining because of verbal threats (my favorite from PBmining Grin)  and other shit.

I think site will be up again. Roll Eyes
To give more stress this will take one or more week.  Tongue

Well this idea comes from me from my stock market experience.
Admin (my idea) sold Khs that no exist(SHORT position) will open market and people panic sell and he will buy (LONG position). ZERO sum game. Just trade Smiley

So people will not blame him for hack.

I expect price will be around 0.00000150-200

Rewards also can drop due to hack idea to cover up loses bla bla bla..  Grin

This actually seems very plausible to me Tongue but at least it means that this fun game will go on lol.

So how many btc stolen? Has anyone traced the block chain yet to see where the coins are now?

I bet crypto devil and his band of ponzi bum buddies are touching themselves over this!

I can't wait for the explanations once scrypt.cc are up and running again.

And if not, well you can laugh all you want I guess, I was almost at break even anyway now

HATERS GONNA HATER, ALL DAY EVERY DAY!!!!

The guys calling scam were the ones that were to much of a pussy to get in early and have regretted it ever since. This explains their behaviour like a 2 year old that doesn't get their way.

Around 1500 BTC (afaik).

my theory:
They found a bug in the frontend. caused by work on the server on the previous day. so they were capable of sending a manipulated sell order to the backend.
that means, they could sell non-existant KHS and withdraw then the corresponding Bitcoins normally.
repeated until Hotwallet and Backup Wallet where empty.

That was one method.

The other was the injected support chat, has lured people in Skype.
In order to offer people 'cheap KHS'.

From the criminal point of view, a good idea. Technically, not outstanding but efficient.

The damage is relatively low. It will not affect the project permanently.

so how do we know if the admin posting messages is really "the admin" not "the hacker"?

Nah, it's him, if there was a hacker, he is long gone with the coins stolen, and there's no reason for hacker to warn people not to deposit anymore due to addressed being compromised.
BTW, do you honestly think there was an actual hack ? To me it looks like a standard ponzi cloudmining cashout.

cheers

Plus the mining mentions about is BS as well, It has been stated over and over again that you cannot prove that they do Not have that much mining power as they Do NOT Solely Mine LTC which is what that figure is based upon.  So in that regard the Math Cannot be proven or dis-proven, Unless you can figure out the hashing power Of Every Single Altcoin in Scrypt.

Either way, time will tell what is going to happen, until than everything Anyone says is Speculation and Assumptions.

You know what they say about assumptions, Assumptions are like @#$Holes everyone has one.

Just my two cents.

And yes I know people are gonna jump all over this post based on their point of view but it is what is is and people will do what they do.

No, I am going to jump all over your post because it is based on ignorance.

Here, let me enlighten you about how you can check the proof yourself:
Who says its only mining scrypt coins?

[expletive deleted] ASIC miners can only mine the specific ALGO they are designed for!

Bitcoin ASIC miners can only mine SHA256 coins and Litecoin ASIC miners can only mine Scrypt coins.

SHA256 is like 27 coins. According to http://coinwik.org/List_of_all_DCs there are 174 scrypt or variation of scrypt coins. With custom software couldn't a scrypt miner mine the most profitable of the 174 scrypt coins?

You only need concern yourself with Litecoin and any coin with sufficient market liquidity which is more profitable than Litecoin to mine. There would be zero point in mining anything less profitable than Litecoin if you are seeking to sell what you are mining to earn the bitcoin that scrypt.cc 'pays out' every ten minutes.

Fact is you can check this yourself. Go to coinwarz.com and add up the total network Hashrate for Litecoin and any Scrypt coin above it in the list which isn't merge-mined with Litecoin.

Now add up the Hashrate of the public pools for those coins because scrypt.cc wouldn't be wasting money paying pool fees when they have way more than enough power to solo mine every coin including Litecoin, and deduct that total Hashrate of the public pools from the total Hashrate for the combined coin networks.

There is no space left to hide but a tiny fraction of scrypt.cc's claimed 850GH/s of Scrypt ASIC mining power.

Ergo, they are lying about mining with 850GH/s of scrypt hash power.

Was wondering when you would post something like that.  That is Based upon Sheer Assumption.  You cannot tell me undeniably that he Is Not Mining Other Altcoins.  Could very easily Mine other Altcoins, Wait for the price to Rise or Lower trade when Profitable etc etc blah blah.  Either way it is what it is.

Now you are just being willfully ignorant.

Scrypt altcoins would need far more market liquidity than they have in order to cover the daily BTC needs of this scheme's claimed 'payouts'.

Besides, 850GH/s of Scrypt is an absurdly large amount of hashpower. Seriously, go do the math yourself instead of trying to dodge the issue with hand-wavy dismissals about "it is what it is". What it is, is a fucking lie.

Try learning the facts about Scrypt altcoin mining, you are being an idiot and anyone with two brain cells to rub together can check the facts. Most Scrypt altcoins barely have a handful of MH/s on their networks and what they do have is accounted for by public pools. Scrypt.cc would not be using public pools because they would have to pay pool fees. With this truly huge amount of hashpower they claim to have they could own any fucking coin network they wanted to, including Litecoin.

Fact is, they are lying and provably so and, in that they are lying, what possible motivation would they have to tell the truth about anything which might end the scam before they are ready?

"Oh noes, we wuz hacked!" - Time and again the no1 'exit excuse' given by these fraudulent operators.

You are entitled to your own opinion, you are not entitled to your own facts. If you refuse to accept the simple truth then you will continue to fall for simple lies.

Cloud mining services can *only* make financial sense to operate if you are an ASIC manufacturer.

I just popped after I found out the problems the site is having. after my coin was stolen a couple of months ago I suspect now by reading this and other stories that it was admin not a hacker. I have not invested since and now I will not invest another satoshi. I suggest everyone pull everything out before you lose everything and if you lost everything walk away don't put anything else in. don't give these scammers anymore coin.
