Thats how whales work in the market.
If they like to have the token and wants to have big numbers of it.
they can manipulate the market by doing buy and sell.
they have the power and capabilities to make the price lower by putting walls and once done they will pull it up.
The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

I think it may be possible, but it's very unlikely for us to get to know about such cases. And even more unlikely to affect it.

Most malnipulations that occur, usually happen to coins on particular exchange or one or two exchanges and it is most times done by day traders, who do if for their business. So this might not in anyway affect the general market, which is what might have happened in the case of Bittrex.

It's common knowledge that the market is easy to manipulate and manage, I can not understand one thing, why the prices on the etherium are so much lowered, and when the price returns to the area of $ 800.

The market is manipulated and this is a fact. I suppose that these manipulations will be never stopped. We can not do anything with it.

Latest article by www.wired.co.uk stated that a newspaper by researchers  at the University of Texas at Austin's department of finance indicates that someone at Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange may have artificially inflated the price of coins including bitcoin, ether, and Zcash. The responsible for this appears to have been Tether, a cryptocurrency with the same CEO as Bitfinex.
What are your thoughts about this? Do you think they really manipulated the price? Is it possible?

The whole market is highly manipulated, that's normal situation for such a young market. When institutional investors come the market will become more stable and much less manipulated. On the other hand there would be no such profits when this happens.

Talking about manipulations without providing clear evidence has always been some kind of conspiracy, though the fact that Bitfinex and Tether have the same CEO can indeed be an unambiguous proof. Such situations is one of the reasons why crypto market should be given at least a basic control from the side of unprejudiced regulatory bodies - this would help to prevent the clash of interests of various investment groups.

The market is being manipulated every day only without the BTC which is a little bit more difficult although miners can manipulate  Grin Altcoins are usually manipulated by the whale. That's why it's risky to invest in altcoin.

I fully agree with you on this issue. Indeed, some laws are needed for cryptocurrencies and although many will think that this will immediately limit cryptocurrencies, but it should also save cryptocurrencies from various kinds of manipulation and fraud.

It is possible for them to manipulate Bitcoin price and other known altcoin because they made money out of thin air. The tool that they use to manipulate it is Tether that is why you should avoid Bitfinex and never ever use Tether.

I think that the prices for crypto currency are really manipulated. This is a young market and its capitalization is not very large if compared, for example, with the stock market. Plus a large number of bitcoins are concentrated in a small number of people. they manipulate the price

Think about it, classical currency markets have excellent liquidity, the Bitcoin market does not have such a property, liquidity is extremely bad here. Why? Because bitcoin is small, which means having enough volumes you can manipulate the price and set a trend in one direction or another.

I think that the market can be manipulated by rich investors or the government. There is always someone who manipulates such things but now I don't know any limits or restrictions

I think you can manipulate any object of interest. Since any field of activity has points on which you can click. And as well as what you can freely manipulate.

However, these marketers have led many investors to join in the crypto and push Bitcoin prices up to $ 20000 earlier this year. That is what investors want, if there are laws issued, I think the pump and dump will no longer

If you have enough resources, you can easily manipulate the price of cryptocurrencies. Their total capitalization is not so great for whales. If they decide that it's time to start a bullish trend, they easily organize it.

I think yes, I've seen a lot of groups especially on Telegram or slack that were searching people to increase the number of participants, because a manipulation can be only done with an high amount of volume that can be easily reached by adding more people on their groups, the manipulation will succeed especially if it will be done on a small exchange with a coin with small volume
