Latest article by www.wired.co.uk stated that a newspaper by researchers  at the University of Texas at Austin's department of finance indicates that someone at Bitfinex cryptocurrency exchange may have artificially inflated the price of coins including bitcoin, ether, and Zcash. The responsible for this appears to have been Tether, a cryptocurrency with the same CEO as Bitfinex.
What are your thoughts about this? Do you think they really manipulated the price? Is it possible?

I think by doing the pumping and dumping could cause the price to get fluctuated, and that would be the way to manipulate the market condition of cryptocurrency.

The market situation may be controlled by large investors. Under normal circumstances, the price increase of a token is controlled by the big players.

i think long term is good method and people who doing that have a big patient. because they believe on they coin. if you want invest on coin i suggest check the market and choice top 10 or you can looking good project on new ICO.

The best way is to keep as much as you can of the best coins like a deposit and to takes from there only when you need it urgently. Why so? Because in a year or two you will thanks me for this idea. All the good coins will be pumped hard couple of time. But keep in mind strong coin only with low supply

I believe that the market can be manipulated as I experience trading in bitforex Exchanges they have Bot traders who is making fakes volumes,i am one oF their victim of fake volumes before even though you set your token to the same price of buy order it still not selling until you lose your profit that's why I leave that Exchanger.

Depending on the money we have, many say that the market can be manipulated, and in my opinion this is reasonable because anyone can make prices go up or down as long as they have strong capital.

Manipulation has been the strong thing now in cryptocurrency which many has turn to way of life all in the name of money or profit , so many coin are hype in price even the btc price show that we are seriously in manipulators hands , which affect the whole market all in the name of CME limit and that has made the price of btc not getting below $6000 which I think is not a major support.

It's common practice among exchange and whales I have seen that happening so many times in the past and until now, in fact there are a lot of group on telegram that do pump on particular coins on exchange, Yobit is very notorious on this it's the home of the pump and dump coins.

Yup, and the majority of the coins in the market can be manipulated even those high volumes coins, Crypto markets it's too weak that's why it's easy to manipulate by big investors.

Long term investment is the best policy here in this crypto world as we already see the holding value, those who are holding BTC, ETH and Dash from last two years r full of their bags with money and all r millionaires and billionaires. in this case I might not say much because maybe in every market they have their own policies and to manipulate the possibility of prices for them has become a natural thing Because they control the market and the point is "MAYBE IT MAY BE POSSIBLE"

it is possible that during this time the market was being manipulated because the pattern of fluctuating movements of crypto prices could be said to be the same ie after a few stable conditions then the price of the coin crypto gradually rose, not long after the price immediately dropped dramatically, and the incident did not last once but had many times. but I do not accuse that this deteriorating market situation has been manipulated, I just expressed my opinion about "is it possible the market can be manipulated" just like the question in this thread.
