Hey hilarious...  Maybe instead of doing 25 GBP pool and a 100 GBP one, why not start a CL betting pool for the same (25) price instead?  I'm pretty sure most, if not, all the players here would play the CL pool too.

What do you think?

I'll probably just stick to the £25 one for this season for the Premier League. Too late and too much hassle to get everyone to agree to £50 and don't want any users to drop out. Maybe I'll double it to £50 for next. We'll see. We can do a Champions League one as well for another £25 though. Would have done one last season for it but left it a bit too late and didn't really want to do it with only a few players. Once the Premier League starts I'll open up a thread about the Champions League pool. Will give us over a month to recruit people then. 

You could also add a poll for this thread just for the lulz...  And of course see what some players think.  Maybe they're not as vocal as they should be but would find it easier to click 'yes or no' on a poll...?

Anyway, I think we'll see almost the same amount of players joining in.

I don't think you can add polls once a thread has been created. Also, the poll would be open to anyone so you'd just get random plebs voting on it who had no interest in the pool.

Without a doubt I will join for the CL pool as well, as it is a bigger event than EPL so I think it would be nice to have bigger prizepool. Obviously it requires bigger entry fee, lets say £50. Probably we need to make vote between £25 or £50 for the CL pool. But if £50 is too much for most participants then £25 is OK.

I'll probably just keep it to £25 as to not price people out of it. We won't have as long to organise it/drum up interest as well so I'm not sure if more people will join over the Premier League.

I enjoyed the world cup pool, even though I lost, I will remember that I was Number 1,,, for two days, so that means I have some skill to show off, even if not the best of the best. I would like to add my name again for this pool also, if everything is done in the same way as before. If it is not too late!

It's not too late. You could join in half way through the tournament if you really wanted. You'd just have very little chance of winning then haha. A couple of users did join in a few rounds into the tournament last year. I'll probably message everyone a week or so before the start to collect all the money in so keep an eye out for that. Pot is now currently at £675. One more person for £700.

I think getting twelve new players before the start of the season on the tenth will be a stretch. Keep spreading the word though. £25 is a steal for an entire season of entertainment and the pot is pretty decent so far. The pool makes the tournament more exciting at least as you have an interest in every game, even the shitters. Still looking for a website to use if anyone can suggest some seeing as the BBC one won't be available.

I suggested that one previously for the world cup competition but they had complicated scoring for that one. I actually used it last season for Premier League and they are quite ok. They will even remind you over Email to enter predictions. I believe they are running it for a lot of different competitions.

OK. Thanks. I guess we'll go with that one unless we find anything else that's better. It's a shame the Premier League doesn't have an official one like FIFA did for the World Cup. I saw they have a free to play fantasy league though: https://fantasy.premierleague.com/

Ah, so Trofo was the one who suggested. I actually just only found it. Looks like it's been around for a while, judging from the history of other players I've checked out. I agree on reliability 100%, and this one looks like it's been battle-tested for many rounds and other sports, but can't speak for it personally as have never tried (perhaps for the interest of experimenting I'll try it anyway even if we don't settle on it).

7 is absolutely crazy, agree. We had someone hit 5 in our last pool didn't we and that was rare enough. But it's a nice bonus on the off chance someone's favoured by the gods, something extra to play for... and it seems to record all our performances over seasons. Maybe this pool becomes a regular feature.

I have played FPL for the last 6 years, so would be happy to offer advice/help out if required. It's free to use the site and you can have as many people as you want in a private league. The only issue is the account most people who already play use is linked to their real name, since they mostly play with real life friends, so people might want to create a separate account for privacy reasons which is technically against the rules.

It is a fair amount of work if you want to remain competitive. I am in the opppsite situation to you - the reason I've not signed up for your prediction pool is because I already spend too long on my team without also having to predict scores, haha.

YES PLEASE!  I'd love to play that one.  I played some twice back in the day with some friends when I had FB still.  It's fun!

Predicting scores is much easier than picking and swapping players and having to do the research every week etc. I guess you can make this game as easy or as complicated as you want to. Some people will do their scores in a minute just by heart, and others will probably go a bit further and check form and previous results etc. I don't think joining this pool will take up that much more of your time.

I guess I can set one up, but I'm not sure I'd do a pay to play one yet. I've no idea if I'd make it through a whole season. Depends how much work it is. Maybe we can do one for free as a tester this season. If it's a success or people like it then we can do a paid one.

On the fantasy league, can you see everybody else picks once they've made them? I remember a friend of mine who used to do one said it was a bit shit because some people would just copy the best 'managers', especially once they got in front so there was no way they could catch up.

Yes and no. You can view everybody else's team whenever you like, but you will be looking at their team from last week. You can only view other players' teams for the current week after the deadline for transfers and substitutions has passed, so if you were to try to copy someone, you would be a week out.

Correct, but you only have one free transfer between matchdays so you can actually predict majority of your opponent players.
That being said I am playing for 5 years and it is absolutely great and addictive game. I have missed unimportant meetings at work in order to tweak my team just one last time

I am already playing Fantasy with my mates with entry of about 30$ and would very much like to join the league here as well. I am little skeptical regarding attendance. I created one for World Cup and there was only 3 other guys from Croatian section that joined. Therefore, if we could get some small symbolic reward from some sponsor....could help a lot.

Only problem is what someone else mentioned above. Long time Fantasy players probably have accounts created with their real names/data which could be a little tricky in this community.

If you need/want some help I can create and organize this one. Maybe even post some tips for new comers. Of course If we decide to have some money involved you should be our keeper/escrow since I don't have any reputation on this forum. For example I believe that you can't create or even join leagues before you create your team, which can take some time.

It is a shame that BBC predictor won't be available. That is the best scoring system and I think it is much but much better than the FIFA predictor way with round results giving you a lot of points which I totally disagree with. I hope we can find a website with the same exact scoring system as the BBC predictor otherwise the fun will be much less than last year.
