Pretty much a season to forget for me, but thank you Harkorede for remembering and paying out our side bet (have to admit, I didn't remember it, so anyone who knows I took sidebets and lost, please remind me heh).

It came to my mind when I saw your post that you will pay my entry fee for next season. Besides I also need to make a 1 mbtc payment to swogerino. I was thinking at the beginning of the season that Manchester United would finish ahead of Arsenal. It is funny when I look at it now.

Lol.If you had not mentioned this here I have completely forgot about such side bet in the beginning.I was scared a bit for the beginning as you never know what to expect from Arsenal but once I saw the first 5-6 games I was sure that Arsenal would finish ahead and as such I didn't think about it anymore and had completely forgot until now.What a great 0.001 Bitcoin to play my favorite games or to bet a lot with IDR in sport betting,thanks mate  .

A huge congratulations to all the winners as it was another great EPL pool season on the forums.
Even though I did worse than all who actually still were putting in their selections when they knew they weren't in the top 20.
For myself it was last place in those still playing at 50.
But it was fun and well worth the entry fee, to me at any rate.

I think there is scientific basis for cycles, even in sporting clubs. And unfortunately, Liverpool seem to be in 7th season funk, which especially appears to be true for Klopp -- I can only hope that we buck the trend. Am most nervous about how on earth we're replacing the midfield, something long overdue and now even more urgent that we've lost 3 key players in the position, should retire another, and will lose even the backup loan option.

I think Liverpool in the end of the season showed great football and endurance,they won most of their games and I think it is exactly from there where we should start thinking about the upgrade for the next season.I know we have great strikers like Nunez and Salah but having some more does not hurt,also in the midfield we need as many talented players as possible as that saying says "in football midfield can win or lose you games" they are the most important part of any team as they produce dangerous actions and also they manage the defense.I think if we fill the midfield with talented players we can have a go for the title once again next season.

I wonder what the odds would have been for the likes of Brighton, Aston Villa, Newcastle and Man United to finish well above both teams that we picked, who could have seen that coming huh ?

I literally should have back Arsenal, but I didn't see Chelsea sacking Thomas Tuchel that early into the season, so it's all good, let's look forward to next season.

There was a certain hype around Newcastle (although they had a rather modest line-up), so I don't think that their success surprised anyone much.
As for next season, I don't even know what to expect - there are so many contenders for the top lines that I just can't even think of a "logical" order of teams for how next season should end so that everyone takes "their place" and no one is shocked. Anyone can do it?

You guys are already interested in Mac Allister, and it appears that Liverpool is his only option at the moment. He is certain to make a move this season, and Brighton are willing to sell for no less than £65m. You may want to finalise the deal as soon as possible, before Chelsea let go of Mount and Kovasic next week. If Poch wants him, we'll get him; we're set to spend another £600m this summer. 

Kovasic to Man City -I don't like the deal at all, but if Poch says he isn't part of his plans, I don't know what else to say. For real, this is going to hunt us next season.

I don't completely agree with you about Newcastle, the main narrative most people had was that they have rich owners and a blank cheque, but we were still looking to them to make those huge signings before they can be this good, but they made a couple of transfers but those transfers didn't bring them here because Isak for instance after his first game when he was signed for the got injured and played for just the latter part of the season iirc, I believe that most people, at least myself was expecting the transition to happen over a period or 2-3 years, but Eddie Howe did a pretty solid job and I can agree money is the part of the motivation for the players in general too.

Like everyone else, I expect not much from them next season; the pressure is now on them; being regarded a top 6 team comes with a lot of pressure.They have the money, but it will take 2-3 years, as you stated, for them to become appealing to good players; for the time being, they will only attracts B-C grade players who are either looking for money or game time.Tbh, I was expecting them to be quite active this summer, but there has been no word on their transfer dealings as of yet. There is no better time to make good deals than now, before the international break.

Yes, that's why I wrote about the hype and the expectations of the crowd. Few people look at specific detailed information about purchases and sales. In order for expectations to grow very high regarding the success of the club, it is enough to know that sheikhs have acquired it, further details about their strategy (fast pumping of money or gradual development) are already of little importance. After the examples of City and PSG, everyone "knows" one pattern "purchase by sheikhs -> rise of the club to the tops."

I won quite a bit in this pool, but enough to pay entry to all the pools for next year  I'm not sure I want to participate in all the pools (for example, the randomness of Series A hurts me), but with such generous prizes, it would be foolish to pass up the opportunity.
