Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

What is the size of the folder in \roaming supposed to be? I have 2.7 GB.

After making sure my beta wallet was up to date, I'm at 2.25 GB total for my Mintcoin folder.

NOT AT ALL.

I think a disclaimer in the OP might be a good idea.  Enough peeps have asked this question that it's warranted in my opinion.

Made a Download of the Mintcoin BlockChain on 10-28-2014 (install will be only a few minutes)
https://www.dropbox.com/s/ax7xnlo0rhghuim/Mintcoin-BlockChain.zip?dl=0

Make sure Mintcoin is closed

Then Unpack and copy & replace the files from Mintcoin-Blockchain into C:\Users\"username"\AppData\Roaming\Mintcoin

Then open Mintcoin and it will start syncing the BlockChain from the 10-28-2014 instead of the start.

Will be as quick as the download & copy are complete.

@Mintcoin Team feel free to take the file for your downloads to help out new users on the new wallet.

 Cool

I don't think this will work. Is this verified to work? I think this process was tried before in the past and it gives an error.

Just need to use the bootstrap method or just sync from scratch normally. Syncing normally from scratch took me about 48 hours, (but I have shoddy internet connection that goes out from time to time.) Syncing normally is a bit better, if you care about having a fully synced block-chain verified by the network itself.

MINT used to be a POW/POS hybrid but that changed because there were successful attacks against such hybrid. Pure POS is more secure.

Why does the cryptsy info page say MINT is POW/pos hybrid ... with 1 mint per block pow ?

Cryptsy probably just hasn't updated their info on Mintcoin in a while. The 1 coin for PoW blocks ended a while ago, I want to say back sometime in March. ... It was community consensus and was decided to hard fork, to get rid of PoW altogether. The reason was this: After the reward dropped to only 1 coin, very few people kept mining it, which caused security vulnerability as anyone with large hashpower could hold the network hostage if they wanted to...No double-spends or compromises actually occurred on the network, but a quick decision was made to fork it over to 100% pure PoS.

Stop Mining.   Start Minting.   Mintcoin  [MINT]
5% annual minting reward. Mintcoins don't wear out like mining gear. They keep on minting!

Mintcoin 10-28-2014 BlockChain Download from Kiklo

Is Offline due to it exceeding 20 GB per day from free dropbox, so if Mint Team did not get a copy to put on their download site. PM me and I will setup a new link so you can get a copy and place on your own site for download if you want it.

 Cool

I'm at my wit's end here.   I like to pride myself on being able to fix things, but my wallet keeps crashing.

Newest Version downloaded for Windows 7.

I have a couple backups of my wallet. All are acting the same way.

I installed and downloaded the entire blockchain.  It was at a point of saying my balance was zero and up to date.

I go to roaming, overwrite wallet.dat with my most recent backup.

Restart the wallet, and I receive the below error:

The error on the bottom left may be of more value....

Any suggestions would be amazeballs.   Even if I can get an older version of the wallet it may help.

Thanks!

Hello,

I was on Reddit, and notice someones post that the Mintcoin price flair ticker is out of date, does anyone know how to fix this and get it pulling the API from a different exchange such as Cryptsy? I was online trying to read and figure it out but it is beyond me. Apparently it is CSS stuff.

It would be cool if we could get it to pull the correct information, and maybe possibly even more stats like shown at

http://www.reddit.com/r/CryptoMarkets
and
http://www.reddit.com/r/FedoraCoin

These show volume, % changes, % mined, difficulty.
