I am confused (wow, surprise) about the PoS. Is there anything special I have to do or do they just sit in my wallet once they get there and wait for 20 days to pass?
Don't encrypt your wallet, don't transfer coins you want to have gain the 20%. That's it.

Check out this site for legit free BTC. It's like an hourly free lottery ticket that always pays out at least 300 satoshi, and could net you over .3 BTC if you're really lucky. Just gotta fill out a captcha each time. (basically a faucet with chance of real reward) http://freebitco.in/?r=242778

It'll still mint even if you don't open the wallet. The balance is not actually kept in the software on your computer, it's connected to your wallet code which is on the network.

My question is. what happens to coins kept in an exchange for 20 days. Do they still mint? Does the exchange recognize this and update the amount?

I think it needs to be in your wallet it for it to work.

I think it needs to be in your wallet it for it to work. But... technically an exchange IS putting your currency in a wallet.

I'm assuming it would because the amount of currency in your exchange balance is probably just an inserted value, and the wallet code is tied to that value. So if for any reason that wallet value changes, the exchange would automatically reflect it.

I don't know of any proof of stake coin that's balance increase while kept in an exchange. Your coins are not in a personal wallet on an exchange. They are in several large wallets that belong to the exchanges. Those exchanges, I would guess, will have those wallets highly encrypted at all times. This means no minting since they will not mint in an encrypted wallet. I am going to guess that you need to have them in your own wallet and that you need to periodically remove the encryption to allow for the minting to take place.

This is the problem with mintcoin currently... if the wallet gets corrupted and it has to re-download the blockchain, it takes that long to synchronize We have a dual wallet setup now, but for some reason the blockchain corrupted on BOTH of them. I'm not sure what we'll need to do from here but we are investigating every possible avenue to keep our wallet stable. We have redundant infrastructure on everything, but unfortunately due to the way that MPOS and stratum interact, they both need one wallet to talk to.
