Unlike traditional banking where clients have only a few account numbers, with Bitcoin people can create an unlimited number of accounts (addresses). This can be used to easily track payments, and it improves anonymity.

kopam, I added them to the media library on the site. Now, someone should write an article about them (I won't, I deal with gathering the team).

Please put me down for web design. I'll deliver something fresh and minty.

I got a guy that makes great looking sites.

He's working on two projects for me atm, one of them will be finished on Tuesday.

As soon as that's done we could get working on a new MINT website and have that live for Friday 21st.

https://www.newaltex.com/ is closing down, due to half a bitcoin being stolen, very sad that this exchange is closing down since it was a pretty good one.

I will be AFK for some hours. I'l try to keep an eye on my smartphone, but I can't promise. I am looking for someone to act as deputy for organisation. I live at GMT+1, so an Asian or a American would be perfect.

The site is live. It is VERY rough now, not even a decent address (this will get fixed if there is success - I have plans for the name), but at least it works

http://of-might-and-magic.com/mintcoin/wordpress/.

Anyone who want to join: create an account then send me a PM. I will upgrade your rights accordingly. ShibeonBarkmont, kopam, nickenburg, lumeire, please create an account,  I thus will check if everything works fine.

kopam: you DO have skills for helping! What you might not have is time or motivation, but skill, you.
We do not need coders only. You can write? You can promote? Maybe you can even design? You can also welcome newcomers, help with transaction issue, let alone contacting merchants and dealing with marketing, advocating.. There is a lot of things you can do without being a coder!

lumeire: thanks for your offer. could you start by posting on the blog your infographics? Then take contact with ShibeonBarkmont for arranging the best course of action when it comes to promotion - your taks are complementary.

Let's start with gathering a team. And remember: this is open-source. The only this that is not open is the experience of the dev - the rest lays in our hands. Maybe some of you already participated in another coins - so you have experience too.

Don't forget: we are not working against the team. We are working with him. We are working to show him/her that we are good enough to alleviate some of his burden and make mintcoin more dynamic.

Let us make mintcoin succeed!

EDIT: I have a meeting in 30 minutes, so I will be AFK for several hours.

Hey, you are doing a great job ! I am all in for helping and developing the community !
I also cant wait to see the new community with ShibeonBarkmont as community manager.

As i said i personly can not do all that much but i got a designer the help out and create some banners etc ( sadly he is doing only logo designs, banners etc, no web design ).

So here are some version of what we have so far, please vote and say what you like and what you dont. I will try to get more stuff going, also any suggestions for banners, pictures, well pretty much anything just say it and i will try to get something.

RPC problem; getbalance is broken.

On a mintcoind fresh from git checkout, with synced blockchain:

Code:
someone@somebox:~$ mintcoind listaccounts
{
    "" : 0.00000000,
    "gamebank" : 999999.00000000
}
someone@somebox:~$ mintcoind getbalance gamebank
-9216810327147.70507812
someone@somebox:~$ mintcoind getbalance test
-9216811327146.70507812

This is incorrect. getbalance gamebank should return 999999.0, and getbalance test should return 0.

what os you use? I tried on windows, looks fine to me. It did show my balance.

Yes I see the problem now. The problem only exist if you specific the account name. If you do "mintcoind getbalance", then it shows total correctly, but if you use "mintcoind getbalance acctname" then the displayed number is wrong.

So for your purpose, just use getblance without further arguments, it will be fine.

You don't understand my use case.

I'm a service provider and need this RPC call functional.

Edit: Opened a GitHub issue

If you check coins like Peercoin, there's only functions like getbalance of the whole wallet. You may have several addresses, its own balance usually do not make sense. As when you do a send, the coins may come from multiple of the addresses randomly. You can not say send from this address. Therefore, all you care about is the balance in your wallet in this case. If you want to check each address. Use listaccounts.

getbalance should work with seperate accounts. You can send coins to and from accounts within one wallet, and use getbalance to retrieve the total number of coins from those accounts. I know because I use getbalance regularly with other coins. Many altcoins in fact.

If you're running a service accounts are essential. As someone who has a script that relies on knowing exact account balances on a regular basis I can confirm that if he's unable to get the correct balance from his accounts, then either there's a problem on his end, or with the source.

Awesome logos, guys!

But is it just me, or the "M" for mint a bit difficult to make out? Maybe a more distinguishable "M" character would be better?

I agree, the lettering should be revamped.

kopam, Alty (and others, too!): could you proposed several sketches for the community to choose from?

I think we all have a common goal for MINT and that is to see it succeed.

Hopefully the dev will encourage/welcome our efforts.
