Thanks again to coinshipit.com for accepting MyriadCoin. Their service is still beta but they allow anyone to buy always anything with MYR online!

Myriadcoin - the first multi-PoW blockchain! (Mine with SHA256 [ASICs], Scrypt [GPU/ASICs], Skein [GPUs], Groestl [GPUs], OR Qubit [CPUs/GPUs]).

New website domains purchased. Upgrading website contents and transfer taking place. Reminder: don't use myriadcoin.org anymore. Refer to the Myriad block explorer for a temporary copy of the site Smiley

Myriad Community Protocol/Guidelines for an Algorithm Switching Event
Quote
Note: This is a rough draft I made so we can get the ball rolling for an organized guideline. We need to decide on the specifics I outlined at the bottom. Let me know if I'm forgetting anything, too. Thanks!
Purpose of Guideline
The goal of this guideline is to help the Myriad community reach consensus about future algorithm switching decisions and an efficient way to prepare for the event.

Background
Cryptocurrency mining (i.e. generating currency) offers an extra layer of freedom on top of cryptocurrency transacting (i.e. spending/receiving currency) and should be considered a financial right for all people in a truly decentralized system. The industrialization of SHA-256d ASICs rendered Bitcoin incapable of providing this liberty to the rest of the world. The same can be said for Scrypt and will be said for any coin with a single (or chain) algorithm whenever its market cap ominously intersects with Moore’s Law. The presence of ASICs provide enhanced network security for emerging cryptocurrencies, however, so an attempt to exclude them renders the coin vulnerable to attacks while also failing to prevent ASIC design in the long run.

Myriad solves these issues by allowing five modular algorithms to independently solve blocks on the same blockchain and making it easy to swap algorithms in the future.

Purpose of Algorithm Switching Event
The main purpose of replacing a Myriad algorithm is to ensure mining remains an option for as much of the world as possible. The dual layer of freedom provided by Myriad should be considered a global financial sanctuary and protected at all costs. An algorithm should be switched if it has been compromised by an ASIC or an outside algorithm is invented that spontaneously enables a larger population of the world to mine (i.e. some form of “human” mining).

Current Algorithms (Each algo receives ⅕ total block rewards over time)
1) SHA-256d (ASICs)
2) Scrypt (home GPU miners, GPU farms, and ASICs)
3) Skein (home GPU miners, GPU farms)
4) Groestl (home GPU miners, GPU farms)
5) Qubit (home GPU miners, GPU farms)
Current Summary ~1.5 algos have ASICs, ~3.5 algos do not.

Protocol Specifics to Reach Consensus On
-How many algorithms should have ASICs and how many should be GPU only?
    1) ⅕ ASIC, ⅘ GPU
    2) ⅖ ASIC, ⅗ GPU
-If ASIC design for one of Myriad’s algorithms is announced, how soon should the switching event occur?
-What factors go in to choosing the new algorithm?
-How will the algorithm be ultimately decided?
-What should be done for the pools hosting the algorithm to be switched out? Will they be given time and incentive to switch?
-What will be done for the non-ASIC miners that favor that algorithm?
-Should a switching announcement be pushed to Myriad wallets for those not checking Myriad every day?
-How will the multi-algo GUI miner adjust to the new algorithm?
-A p2pool should be created immediately.
-Will the new algorithm be tested for coins/scrypt benchmarks before the switch?
-Block explorers and coin profitability websites should be given time to adjust?
-Anything else?

Myriadcoin - the first multi-PoW blockchain! (Mine with SHA256 [ASICs], Scrypt [GPU/ASICs], Skein [GPUs], Groestl [GPUs], OR Qubit [CPUs/GPUs]).

https://bitbucket.org/iopq/automatic-algo-switcher-for-myriadcoin

I've been testing it for a day and it seems like it works. One problem though: when I start another algo and the pool is down cgminer doesn't allow api access for some reason. So I can't close it unless I kill the process.
whoops I forgot to push the run.php, fixed

I'm tweeting this out and posting it on reddit so we can get more beta testers. I'm trying it tonight Smiley You came out of no where with this!

I wonder what it is that is keeping the price down on this coin. It's one of the most innovative around, it's a big solution for many miners to never give a shit about asics since every algo finds coins with the same pace.

I won't stop mining this til price drops to 100 sat. This will be the coin that will blow up in my opinion, wish more people would start mining it already. Smiley

Don't worry about the price. It'll swing a lot during the day but we will be fine. We are working our butts off on real stuff for the coin and on top of it with have Blocktech working with us in Brazil. People will catch on soon Smiley Don't stop mining!

i have been mining on and off for about 1/2 month. I took a good dump of all mine coin on 1500. Am waiting for a pump so that i can dump my coin again. U can see sell order are very thin. But when the price goes up, a lot of miner are dumping for profit without setting sell order. The next guy who is going to do a decent pump should have over 100 BTC. Mine and hold on to your coin. Get ready to dump on decent price. Coin halving still have about 11 months. I don't think price will go very high unless this coin got adopted by whales with more than 1000 BTC.

Too bad you fail to understand the mechanism of the liberdade project.

Personally, I think we should welcome the 2 current ASIC miners. As BTC diff continues to rise, 1st and 2nd gen ASIC units are becoming unprofitable. I have a few myself that will likely shift over in the coming weeks before they are decomm'd. Scrypt ASICs are pretty much overrunning the profit switching market. They are also incredibly cheap and power lean, so should fit well into the world market project being initiated with the Liberdade. As BTC and profit switching pool returns dry up, I think we need to welcome these ASIC miners. They alone should be able to secure the blockchain well into the future. If a 3rd ASIC hits the streets, it should be given an opportunity to replace one of the 2 currently accepted ASIC algos.

I also think the more difficult question is determining which algo to drop as opposed to which to add. Maybe a "symptoms list" of attributes could be created that when reached, would make an algo a candidate for removal. If we do this, I'm guessing there will be lots of chatter and "deathwatch" style discussion that would keep the algo status in the public eye. That's one half of the communication problem solved by the community itself.

As far as adding a new algo, I don't really know. I know it shouldn't cost to vote as I've seen in other non-MYR coin change discussions. I haven't seen any voting system that I would trust. At this point I'd rather just leave it up to the dev, who hopefully understands the pulse of the community and decides for its benefit.

Any other concerns that would postpone implementation changes, such as block explorers, pools, and miners should be simply be ignored. It's not like it will be an overnight process, and the blockchain shouldn't have to wait on anyone. If a pool operator or website admin isn't on the ball keeping her product updated, they shouldn't be running a pool or a site anyway.

Is everything ok with Skein algo ? I can see two major pools not finding blocks and the diff is low ... Someone trying 51/81% attack ?

P.S. and now blocks are flying, maybe it is the problem with pools...

That would make the equivalent of 225mh Scrypt... if ocminer from suprnova sees this he can check if that person is submitting valid shares and if everything is Ok and doesn`t use some kind of exploit.

I have seen the same. That miner had about 50% invalid shares Wink I doubt that the rest of the shares are valid too. Makes us real miners look stupid, mining for same hacker...
