Just read the the noble coin devs "state of the alternative cryptocurrency" post. Quite an interesting read. Would definitely recommend it.
https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=555576.0

In the post he addresses the technical and social issues facing many alternative currencies. As i was reading it, it occurred to me that a variety of the technical issues he mentions in his paper, this coin in theory seem to have resolved, such as a 51% attack.

However i'm quite inexperienced in the actual technicalities of cryptocurrencies so i was wondering if some one with a better understanding could shed some light on this?

Maybe more bounty money for a technical paper is in order :p

Read that too and it does put forward a case for myriad quite well even if that's not what the dev intended.  I did a small write up previously with some brief thoughts providing a case for myriad,  I would be willing to expand upon it with a second draft over the next few days if the community wishes it.  Please PM me with any critiques.  Unfortunately I lack the full technical understanding required to expand upon the technical vulnerabilities and hence would not claim the bounty regardless.

This coin has a serious flaw pointed out by gatra, developer of RIECOIN. Algo with the highest difficulty can 'takeover' and orphan many blocks created by other algos (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=483515.msg6054591#msg6054591). MYR is not immune to 51% as many are trying to portray, its actually more prone to the attack...

only on paper, in a real actual scenario it is still better protected from an attack than any other alt. also gatra is working with our dev at the moment, that is all I can say right now.

Does anyone have optimal settings for 280X cards on Groestl? I'm getting 11.2 MH/s per card with

--lookup-gap 2 --thread-concurrency 8192 -g 1 -I 18 -w 256 --auto-fan --gpu-fan 30-75 --temp-cutoff 90 --temp-overheat 85 --temp-target 72 --gpu-memclock 1200 --gpu-engine 1100 --gpu-powertune -20

I tried with -I 20 but  only gained 0.2 MH/s. All three cards are undervolted to 1.137 from Trixx.

Please provide a balanced view, it is important to discuss weaknesses paired with solutions presented or it is just FUD.  Long term fix known with weighted algos and short term is wait for more confirms before accepting a transaction.

I'm encouraged that talented devs are stepping forward to provide a balanced analysis of this technology and that 8bitcoder is accepting help for strengthening it.  A robust analysis to drive evolution is needed for this coin to succeed where Bitcoin fails.

It is quite difficult to exploit this. You will still need the hashing power to generate two blocks of two different algos in quick succession. And because you can only roll back the block-chain a few blocks, you'll only have a couple of minutes to attempt a double spend.

A fix to mitigate this issue has been developed with input from the Riecoin developer and will be released shortly.

Edit: As mentioned, a short term solution is to wait for 30 confirmations before accepting a transaction, this will almost completely eliminate the chance of a double-spend.

I am curious. Approx how many coins are people getting (ballpark) per 1mh/s now?
This is one of the last things I was mining with 2 x R9280x before my PSU/mobo died and I won't be replacing them.
Have sold the cards now as this game seems pretty fucked now.
I do remember it being much better to mine something else and buy MYR with the proceeds which is what I did.
Think I was mining about 4k per day but was able to get more like 16k by mining EXE and trading them out on Poloniex.

Thanks for replying. I sort of have to set the memory clock that high because anything below 1150 and my monitor starts acting weird. Setting -g 4 actually gave me lower hashrates. I will probably try Skein too but it's been a long day and i'm too tired to fiddle with the settings any more.
