Thank you miaviator, nice guide and easy for someone like me to follow, I have however two questions.

1) my miner works for about 5 min submitting shares then just continues to "dispatching new work to gc3355 ltc core"? Exactly 1 min apart

2) the default core speed of 600 seams a little low according to your guide, Should I try and get around 750 with it?

Okay, sounds like a possible comm port overflow issue.
My PC's UART just can't handle constant flow traffic on Virtual comm ports.
Anyway, set your transmit buffer to 14 and see if that helps.
Right click computer, then properties/device manager/ports(comm & lpt), right click desired comm port, properties/port settings - set - bits per second to 115200 - data bits 8 - parity none - stop bits 1 - flow control none - click Advanced - leave receive buffer set at 14 - change transmit buffer to 14, right click the comm port in the listing that you just reconfigured, right click then click scan for hardware changes.
This will refresh the comm port/s so they are now seen by the machine.
After that, unplug and plug in the USB port in question. Unplug, wait 10 seconds, plug back in.
Set your GS5 clock to 850MHz. Then start it up and let it hash! That's the best performance you're gonna get out of it;). Happy hashing!
Doing so helped me and one other person on here. It's what I came up with as a solution to the problem you are experiencing but with 5 or more GS5 pods.
Let me know how it goes.
Good luck!

Still chugging along pretty damn solid.

Next question is when does this magic 500kh/s+ firmware roll out?

In lala land.

Just like the 5,10,25 Mh/s boxes.  gridseed and lighteningasic are to busy making packing shipping rolling around in B to develop a decent firmware Smiley

I don't know that 500Kh/s stable is actually possible.  It seems like they keep just crashing everything.

As cool as these run in scrypt only mode... i'd venture a guess that the ceiling on how high these can clock on stable firmware and a much more robust miner is probably at least double what we can achieve right now.

People have clocked them up to 1200.

After 850 most people report a giant waste of power (including me) as the units just error out instead of hashing.

I think there is a sweet spot for each device that is between 766 and 866 which we can't achieve because the devices seem hardcoded (device firmware) to 50m increments.

Looks like there is some firmware issues above 900 clock... share rate dumped to a fraction even though no errors or rejects were counting...

Backed it to 900 and things went back to the right share rate so... firmware needs to be revisited because these puppies have headroom.

Now if we can just get a dual mining function with cgminer...

So, that would mean that cpuminer is to blame for attempts at clock speeds of 900 and over!
I tried 900 - a few red nonces / 1000 - all red nonces / 1100 - all red nonces / 1200 - all red nonces!
Sure ran like the dickens though! But, twazz for shyt!
850 and they are running rock solid hashing away no fuss no muss!
But.....
I have to give cgminer 3.7.2 a try now. It shows hash rates in real time unlike cpuminer. Bummer too because it's a really easy program to set up, configure and run!
Darn it!
I'm getting tired of tinkering with these things. I want them to just sit there, shut up and make me money! Cheesy

VERY excited about the cgminer-gc3355!

Does this support multiple units? If so, what do I need to do different for windows and/or linux?

It seems they only have one miner working here: http://cryptomining-blog.com/1262-download-cgminer-3-7-2-for-windows-scrypt-mining-on-gridseed-5-chip-gc3355-asics/

Thanks!

I specifically ran only one miner vs 10 or 20 of them.  The default should be all devices.

I didn't get any shares returned on linux ;(

I think I'll wait on this one as everything is running stable right now...

okay what should this thing look like when running. I keep seeing some red 0 <<ltc in red at times any help under windows would be appreciated. Also Wolfey did you get 3.7.2 to work It cant find my device when I try it. Guess I better leave this thing tuned down tonight  I am running at 12V 3.75A till my 6a power supply shows up. Thanks

Is there a special arg to pass when running more than 1?

I got 1 to run but not more than that for some reason.

Also, in windows, when trying to install the usb drivers using Zadig, I can see the usb devices in the list but they are not called CP2102 etc.. They are named STMicroelectronics Virtual COM Port. Therefore, when I install the WinUSB drivers, it shows to be installed but running cgminer says waiting for USB devices so it looks like they are not being found.

Have you guys experienced this?

Thanks.

Close cgminer... unplug the usb cable... count to 3 or wait for the beeps... plug it back in and wait... then launch and it should strat hashing.
