The only place I think altcoins has a future in is gambling, normal gambling but first and foremost e-betting.I can not see how it will take over  from normal currency's in the world of buying or selling any other goods then btc. I don't really undestand what you mean to be honest - are you saying that altcoins have no real function outside of online gambling? If we look at the utility of certain coins and their blockchains, that doesn't really make any sense.

The uses of altcoins do not comes because of our wills but because of the functions of the coin and its features and benefits to the users. There a number of altcoins which are highly used in their platforms just like binance. People who are working on binance are highly interested in BNB and they all are using that coin. Ripple is also working with banks and many banks have adopted their software and when crypto currencies will be legalized globally then those all banks will start adopting Ripple coin.

Altcoins are good alternatives for e-commerce too. Some altcoins such as XRP are good coin for instant transactions. It processed faster than Bitcoin and charges lower fee. The main reason why people would prefer Bitcoin still is because of its integrity, security, and volume of its holders/traders.

A lot of other altcoins have technology superior to Bitcoin but the result is very much dependent on the value of this coin to increase prices. I think Bitcoin can still do all the work that investors need but it is best to see this coin as profitable asset because Bitcoin transaction speed is very slow. Currently Ripple, Litecoin, Stellar will be more suitable if you choose to pay because these are very good options for everyone.

However, the most important thing is profit and if not careful, you will have huge losses in investment. Transactions or payments are secondary and will not be used much in investment.

That's one of the reasons why a lot of them wouldn't make it because they are serving the same purpose. Most tokens that are not offering something unique apart from that of transaction, they are going to fail. When it comes to transaction a lot of people prefer to make use of Bitcoin. And when Libra gets released, Libra and Bitcoin will be the only coins that a lot of people would be using for transactions. Etheruem will also survive for smart contracts, then Ripple might be used by banks.

For every altcoin that have been created there are purposes for all of them. I believe that in future they will be working towards that same purpose they were created for (which I believe they are doing now). But a lot of them are not going to make it, some are going to fail, because the purpose they were created for is something that wouldn't work out in crypto.

There are many sector of altcoin project, if they're become successful in the future, this world will full of cryptocurrency and we don't to own dollar or any fiat anymore. But it's almost impossibble to happen because the country government won't let this happen because there are already many people who hold tons of cryptocurrency and they're undetectable. This will be a disaster for them if all of this world become decentralized with cryptocurrency

Altcoins are going to be used in the same way that they have being used as of right now which is to speculate with them, do you really think that people really care about all of those new coins that are appearing? They don't, they only want to obtain profits with them by buying those coins at a cheap price and then selling them for a very high price.

But such strategy does not come without risks, as we know for a long time that strategy has been not very profitable but that doesn't mean that people are not going to keep trying to make it work during the next years and decades.
