Think owning house is more prudent at this stage.

Owning a house is better than having fiat but you have to pay reparation costs, taxes and the upside is very limited

I only wish someone could've talked him into renting the house out or something of the likes, and investing % of the rent money into the btc Cheesy oh well internet randoms for financial advice is pin the tail on the donkey esque.

Proud Hodler, neither bull nor bear.

Yeah, that's what I'd have done. Cash cow right there. Make yourself a slumlord and reinvest the profit in BTC.

He may have an other account or he has a life and doesn't spend all his time on bitcointalk Grin

More than likely, he's trying to forget that this ever happened.

It's not easy to forget, especially now when it's cold outside.

He's already stated it was a spare house he inherited.... Why do people all assume he's living in  a cardboard box??

Is everyone here a pauper or something?

He is sitting pretty on more than 600BTC that could be worth millions in just a few years. What investments do YOU have that could make you a millionaire?

Only in bitcoin land can a person be "sitting pretty" on an investment that's already lost 50%. So dumb...

Losing 50% is not ideal but it's nothing to be worried about yet.

Except a property will cost you money to maintain and taxes

except people will always need houses and they'll always desire precious metals. do people need digital tokens? no. the only reason 99% of people are buying any at all is because "they might be worth millions in a couple years", not because they have any inherent value.

smart people invest "long term" in stocks, bonds, real estate, etc.

gamblers and "get rich quick" types invest in digital tokens that are promised to go "to the moon" just because it's "inevitable" for reasons that nobody can seem to articulate.

What about these economic collapses that are happening to various countries around the world at the moment?

There could be a chance that investing in stocks/bonds is like burning your money in x years time.

In such a scenario where worldwide wealth was wiped out, I assure you bitcoin would suffer worst of all. As we've already seen in real world scenarios, bitcoin is not acting as a hedge for wealth storage.

"Aye, we talked about it. Have you ever been in a city under siege? Maybe this part's not in your books. See, it's not the fighting that kills most people; it's the starving. Food's worth more than gold. Noble ladies sell their diamonds for a sack of potatoes. Things get bad enough, the poor start eating each other. The thieves, they love a siege. Soon as the gates are sealed, they steal all the food. By the time it's all over, they're the richest men in town."

-Bronn, Game of Thrones.
