Please, a little gratitude for the publicity he gave to the bitcoin community. It is his inheritance to do what he wishes with, and if he doesn't need the house, it is a better service to society than letting the banksters play with it at everyone's expense or buying gold and burying it.

The real estate market in North America is more inflated than bitcoin has ever been, and don't believe the measures taken by the central banks will stop the crash- they'really just delaying it. The problem here is extreme short sightedness, and this sale by OP was probably more beneficial to society than anything the many critics are doing.

Lol shills will justify dumbass investing habits 5,000 ways til sunday.

'Who cares if he's lost %65 percent of his investment thus far and completely went against what his father would have wanted (you know, actually making rational decisions)...it's going to the mooooooon, guaranteed!'

'he's better losing his ass donating into a relatively new, volatile speculative technology than to have actual spendable fiat insured in a bank! After all, why feed dem corrupt government politicians dropping money on wars and putting GMO's in our fruit roll ups...when you could give that same money to scammy owners of exchanges and european hackers illegally filtering in m80's and child porn into Ukraine!'

can we stop trolling a guy who clearly made an amazing financial decision for the long term and will reap rewards within a matter of months assuming he still owns the coins?

kthx

You're exactly the same person who wouldn't dare open up his pockets to him in the more likely event the price never recovers and he does lose his ass and needs financial help.

Shill harder.

You're absolutely right. That's what state-sponsored welfare is for. I can tell you this - if I was in his position, I would've done the same (maybe a few months later though... more coins)

Oh, that's interesting.  A libertarian that's pro-social assistance.  And here I thought the two were mutually exclusive.

After all, what better way to squander your financial eff'-ups than to just fall back on the same establishment you seek to take down.

Says the perma bear! What is your money invested in?

Buy cheap hookers from vietnam.
Imports costs about 5k $.
Return rate 500-1000$ per week.

It is the best investment, way better than bitcoin. And you can even do it on a large scale -> cheaper prices.

< 100 BTC is not worth mentioning. Poor souls will always remain poor. Don't miss the failtrain.

Hi All,

I have been following Bitcoin for over a year and was the first person ever to put my house for sale for bitcoin.

http://www.cbc.ca/newsblogs/yourcommunity/2013/03/alberta-man-accepting-bitcoins-in-exchange-for-home.html

Not sure if you followed my story from a year ago, but the house just sold on Friday, and will make the news tomorrow I suspect. When the house closed on Friday I got approximately 648 BTC for my house which is based on prices over the past 6 months when the deal was actively negotiated, legal fees, realtor fees, and a bunch of contract wording that I frankly don't understand. I am now all in! I really believe in bitcoin. It is the future of the world. I look forward to the continued price increase and one day I plan to own my own island. I will truly be a bitcoin billionaire by the time I am 25 I believe. This house was inherited from my father who passed away a few years ago and he always believed in me and told me I would make it big one day and so I shall. Wish me luck Smiley

Tay More
how is the island's weather? i hope it not in a thunderstorm...

There was a bit of everything, but sure he is a permabull, or maybe he successfully traded his holdings, nobody has suggested that, so he would have even more money atm  Grin

He likely doesn't give a shit. Not like it was the only thing he owned and bitcoin isn't dead.

Besides, why would he bother to comment when most of the people in this thread are here to shit on his decision and are hoping he loses everything?

You tried to support BTC by going ALL IN, so we, as a loyal community, respect you for your decision... I do believe that you won't regret on your decision, just HODL... Don't panic ever in any case, as BTC is worth it...

OP had courage, heart and moxy then got his face ripped off. What a brave soul and a shining example of what not to do.

Let's not assume Bitcoin is doomed and OP has failed. Otherwise you and me wouldn't be posting on the forum wasting our valuable time.

OP believed in a long-run investment and Bitcoin has fallen/rose/fallen/rose so many times in past that current value is no indication of its possible future.
See this:
bitcoinobituaries.com

Lets mark this thread and come back 2-3 years later, then we'll talk.

LOL!  The OP didn't go "ALL IN" was the point.  Also, he blew what exactly? He sold the house for 648 bitcoins roughly. That's worth around $180,000 dollars.
