Giant of Africa losing her purchasing power with the highest GDP but with worthless value, isn't that a pity for her people. Ghana can boast any time that we had independence before them but look at their currency value compared to our own. We are paying to ghana and other currency than they do because they have that value in their currency.
Ghana cedi was worthless before until their government appreciated it to worth $1, I did not know much about this though but I was expecting cedi to have depreciated more than this but did not, but it actually still depreciated against US dollar. But, Ghanaian economy is truly better than Nigerian economy. Also US dollar is still depreciating but better than fiat of the developing and the underdeveloped nations, that is why bitcoin can be the safe haven and the store of value, though yet a speculative asset but if hold for long time, it will be an appropriate asset rather than fiat which are generally otherwise and depreciating in design.

Baba Charles Ghana first us run the indepence matter ooo na since 1957, they are 3 years older than us for this matter so but we still no gets excuse sha.

Bro I just tire for the country. I no even know the direction that the country dey head to but e dey look like doom to me. Everything just dey go haywire. Prices of foodstuffs and almost everything don almost do 2-3x increase from the initial price since this Buhari government come in. At least, all those people wey been vote Buhari for first and second term for some cups of rice dey follow us suffer for this country so next time them no go sell their votes for N500 or 2 cups of rice.

Naira dey on steady collapse. Oil prices continously dumping. If nothing is done soon, country go collapse.

Businesses must accept e-naira payment, CBN warns

It is only a matter of a week and some days that e-naira will become a legal tender and a payment option in Nigeria, I see this as a good way and alternative to naira, but naira is a depreciative asset, one of the worst fiat to hold are fiat of developing and underdeveloped nations, but this will actually be good for spending.

The Central Bank of Nigeria says the e-naira which is set to be launched on October 1, 2021, is a legal tender equal to the value of the naira and thus must be accepted as a form of payment by all merchants and business outlets.

Jimoh said, “Today, anywhere you present naira to pay, compulsorily it must be accepted because that is our fiat currency. So, the same way naira is accepted that you can’t reject it, is the same way e-naira must be accepted. Anywhere in this country where e-naira is presented, it must be accepted. So, merchants must accept e-naira as a means of payment.”

He advised Nigerians to open e-naira wallets which could be downloaded on their phones from October 1, adding that CBN bears all liabilities. “The liability of the e-naira money is directly on CBN which is similar to the cash you hold. The liability of the cash you hold today rests with the CBN. So, it gives Nigerians the opportunity to bank with CBN,” Jimoh said.

It is clear that naira is naira, nothing changed about e-naira, it is still naira and nothing more than a naira but a naira. Purely and totally subjected to devaluating manipulation. I hope other Nigerians can see how the CBN president want to use false information to make Nigerians to hold e-naira, thinking it is like bitcoin and other strong decentralized alternatives. E-naira is completely a depreciating asset pegged with naira.

I didn't like this é-naira in the past but the fact that it would mostly be used as a payment gateway locally e make more sense to me, I don't think banks ever supported this ideal of e-naira because e go down on them really bad, the proposed e-naira payment will be more efficient, fast and convenient than our normal bank to bank transfer. But how the e-naira transfer go be like? e-naira to e-naira? Or will it be possible to transfer from e-naira app to local bank? If it's only e-naira to e-naira only e go make more sense cos banks go dey on the losing end.

CBN are trying to unbank their fellow banks lol

I do not think the banks will be affected, e-naira can also be sent to bank account, I do not know if it is owns banks account or other people's bank accounts included, but I guess it will be both. Many Nigerians even still depend on paper naira, while many will prefer going to bank. So people can not do anything on their own until they go to bank themselves, such people can not use e-naira also. But after decades with increasing level of literacy, maybe e-naira transactions might surpass bank transactions and result to it, but I think it will not be possible as the CBN will do the appropriate regulation to let it be a win-to-win development inna way it will also favours banks.

Indeed, the CBN plans to ensure seamless transfers between e-naira wallets and bank accounts with no fees for several types of transactions. The zero-fee structure is likely a means to incentivize the adoption of the digital currency, especially amid complaints about the onerous transaction costs associated with mobile and digital banking in the country.

I Think their mission is different but to be honest with you I go prefer to have my flats saved as e-naira than having it saved in the bank, it would be secured in the hands of CBN than the banks, at least all those monthly charges no go dey and the transfer fees will be lesser with adequate flowing of services. You are right about this, commercial banks like GTBank, First Bank and the likes always charge users too much, all because they have too many customers. But many Nigerians have resorted to Kuda banking, I noticed people mostly send to me using Kuda Microfinance Bank during P2P trading, I later had to download it when I also saw your comment with certain user in the past on this thread about Kuda, no fee for 25 transactions every month, I think this should be enough for no charges for up to 25 monthly transactions.

I too will make use of e-naira to be able to know the right one to use, but also indicated that not all transactions are free while using e-naira.

So, even Zimbabwe money wey we think sey na shit and worthless money dey dust owa naira too. Na wa oh. Dis wan don pass be careful oh. N1 is less than 1 Zimbabwean dollar. And some of us dey sey Zimbabwe money na shit money
I did not go much deeper into this, I was surprised to see Zimbabwean dollar not devalued up to naira, this can indicate good economy but not indicating how strong the fiat of a particular nation is, the strength is in the marketcap of the fiat, Zimbabwean dollar can not be compared to naira because more people use naira than Zimbabwean dollar while naira marketcap is much more higher than Zimbabwean dollar's marketcap while the price of both can can be controlled by the respective governments. But being higher can indicate better standard of living, better economy, higher rate of employment and import to export ratio. But does not necessarily indicate economic power, GDP, internally generated revenue and work force of a nation.

Wiping up sentiments doesn't help a cause. Charles, you see something korokoro and you still get mind dey argue am? Hia! Dis wan shock and tire me. You're defending the indefensible. Whether you take it or not, it's a simple FACT that the Zimbabwean dollar (as it stands currently), carries more weight than our naira. You can check the calculation online yourself. Wetin you dey do now na wetin we do when we be small pikin wen we go dey tell owa friends sey nobody fit beat our papa. Zimbabwe has beaten us hands down on that and so we should accept it in good faith, simple.

Immediately you posted at first, I have checked it and saw that Zimbabwean dollar is not devalued to such extent as naira, but it is the government that are controlling fiat price in a way to protect the foreign reserve. If citizens are importing more products, to help reduce the rate of foreign reserve depletion, the government will have no option than to devalue their local fiat currency. About how strong a fiat currency is, it is not a matter of the price, it is the marketcap (people that are using it and to what extent they are using it).

Is dollar the fiat with the highest price? NO. Not even Euro, not even Pound. II remembered in 2018 and many years back, Kuwaiti dinar has the highest fiat price in the world, is it stronger than the USD, Euro or Pound? No. That is how you will compare naira to Zimbabwean dollar, it has nothing to compare with naira in the forex market when it comes to trading volume.

Obviously, this one way you talk here na true and I no go blame them completely. The only question I go ask na either, e dey help at all? Becuase with the way me I de6 see am, e no dey change anything. Naija na kontry way like spend money, that na to mean the citizens o. We get small money and we no dey like hide am, either we dey home or away, na so e just be. Wher the matter cast reac h na for the poor people way dey the society because, na them go suffer this thing. Nothing concern person way get money because, e go still be am like say nothing happen and na from them kwa, na em the petty traders go feed. As them go inflat price on there produce to enable them buy foreign products too. Na so the trend go just dey waka.

Fiat price is controlled by the government, but Nigerian government makes the country not good for citizens, they should have the blame of the bad economy.

As them go inflat price on there produce to enable them buy foreign products too.
The government devalued naira price to reduce purchasing power.

You will need ₦1200.86 in total to be able to download it. Then you can convert it to plastic. It is legit.

I ran that stuff the second day they announced the official statement and I downloaded the pdf, it escape my mind that others here will need that, and one surprising thing happens that day, the lady in cafe rejected to print the card for me thinking it was fraud, I had to show her the news from NIMC website and Legit,ng website before she later change her mind. I blast her small for thinking I was trying to do something illegal which is what bring the next topic, our politicians na fraud.

This people has refuse to print this card for us citizens, even the one we are downloading as pdf is not too original as compared to the ones already given out to earlier enrollments, there is difference between the two.
Wait before 2023 elections, a huge budget allocation will be given to voters card registration, if that hasn't even began because you know this our politicians, the matter dy tire me.

Regulate cryptocurrency trading now to check high profile crimes, ICPC tells NASS

The fact that Nigerian youths are mostly into online businesses such as networking, Cryptocurrency, digital marketing and forex trading to mention few does not eqaute to doing Yahoo.

Secondly Cryptocurrency on its own is self regulated, we don't need govt hand in it, govt is yet to track down the perpetrators of insurgencies, kidnapping and corrupt politicians, this were known individuals who can be traceable but yet nothing done, our youth sort for an alternative means for survival despite the government neglegence to ameliorate bad to good yet they want to track, and take control of the crypto transactions, their own economy system regulated has nothing to show forth than depreciation and yet want to regulate Cryptocurrency. (Wrong conception).

The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, has asked the National Assembly to come up with legislation that would regulate cryptocurrency trading to stop operators from using it to perpetrate heinous crimes.

Am yet to believe that crypto is now being used for ransom in Nigeria by kidnappers and bandits but if true, then crypto is taking over gradually. In Nigerian market, one item of commodity can be seen with different prices from various sellers, yet claimed regulated by the govt...Who controls the buying and selling price in the market, who authenticate my source of income and other respective buyers, if I buy a fake or substandard product who Is in charge, there are many fake, substandard, foggery and scams out there, isn't there govt whom we pay duly tax, commissions and who is charged with he responsibility of the so called regulations and policy implementation failed?

If they scamedd you of fake bank alert or ATM related fraud, does the regulated body sit to ensure your fund is refunded back.... Shame, they had better leave our sustaining crypto for us as it's more safer even than their own so called regulated old traditional Fiat system.

God bless our hustle!
Crown our efforts!
Provide for our daily bread!
In Nigeria, any online business is termed Yahoo Yahoo and scam. (Wrong mentality)

The anti-graft agency lamented that kidnappers, bandits now use the medium to carry out high profile crimes like money laundering and payment of ransom for kidnappers

“Corruption in digital assets are not easily traceable for instance if somebody steals billions of Naira and converts it quickly into cryptocurrency, it’s almost impossible to trace it.
