I still have my wallet unencrypted -- going to fix this momentarily but it shows no stake shares yet.  My first coins were received more than a couple days ago.  Was unclear whether POS started before POW period ends or not.

PoS

  • Adopts a variable PoS rate with the following annual interest rate:
    - Year 1: 25%
    - Year 2: 15%
    - Year 3-9: 10%
    - Starting Year 10, it will have an annual PoS interest of 1%
  • Min stake age: 48 hours, no max age

Dev, it would be nice to have a countdown of the first 48 hours, so we know that minting has begin Smiley

And at what frequency is stake interest paid? hourly? Daily? weekly? monthy? You never said  Undecided

Here's a little more info around POS minting from the PeerCoin site:

Proof of Stake Important Concepts
  • Coin-Age:  I receive 10 coins from Person X and hold them for 30 days, those particular coins have a combined coin age of 300 coin-days.
  • Generating A Coinstake:  Once minting is unlocked you can generate a coinstake which consumes your coin age in exchange for generating a block with profit.  The greater the coin age the higher probability that the proof of stake will be generated, if you are offline for a couple years for example when you reconnect you will probably generate a proof of stake almost immediately however you may have missed opportunities for compounding earlier.
  • Transferring coins to another person: Destroys all coin-age attached... only static coins gain age.

Also, w/ PeerCoin you can see the minting in the Block Expolorer...the minted blocks have really low difficulty (like 4 or 5).  I took a look at the last few hundred blocks in our chain and I didn't see any that looked like they were minted yet.

But either way...minting is a slow process...

it so slow im not even worried about it. Ha! Coins in mah wallet with! 6 more days of mining; until its aging time. Lets stay focused on coin promotion, development, and net hash rates!

interesting, but, again, for SHA, I can't seem to find the frequency of interest payment, weird. Compound interest is a very powerful force, so we really need to know the frequency of interest payment Smiley

My understanding is that it's not a set frequency...it's more like mini-mining.  Think of your "aged" coins as your mining rig...the more "aged" coins you have, the larger your mining rig.  If you win a POS stake, you get the reward.

I have over 6000 pending maturity.
the entire hardcoreminers network of pools is completely off. This issue needs to be addressed NOW.

chill man... give it a little time

a pool goes offline, mining software stops and the owners of these miners could be unable to switch their rigs for various reasons, their expensive equipment will be pointed at a blank pool and not hashing. At worst, the pool going offline could be a breach of security.

this is an issue which should be addressed immediately. What 'time' should I give it? and for what reason should I give it 'time'?

it is offline.
