Have to give it to Ban for trying to chase down the huge score but ultimately they had to loose as the number of runs was just too much but still they chase down 333 runs. I was right that Rahim would make the big score but they were just 48 short. They lost but lost with dignity.

I don't think, they were ever in chasing this score, they started really slow according to score and middle over batting was not upto the marks. Only Mahmuddalah tried hard to do something, otherwise all other batsmen did not even tried to chase the score.

It is a really difficult task even for top order teams with best players in their ranks and there is no point in chasing a big total like that and end up getting all out for a low score, to keep their confident going taking the match till the end and scoring the maximum runs they can would boost their morale rather than chasing the impossible task and that is what they did exactly, i expected them to chase and end up scoring less than 300 but they wanted to play till the end even if they knew that they lost the match from the start.

I was hoping for an Australian win by more than 100 runs, but the Australians were quite relaxed and complacent during the second innings and allowed the Bangladeshis to score 300 plus. Just shows how one sided the matches in these tournaments so far. Teams such as Australia no longer cares about the NRR, as they know that they have already qualified for the semi-finals. And this has been the most boring world cup ever since I started watching cricket matches.

Australia were the favourites to win this game and in the end they won the game, but I’m sure had the target been a little lower Bangladesh could have caused yet another upset in the tournament. The reason Australian players were relaxed is because they realised Bangladesh, were not going to be able to chase down their target. I’ll agree with you many matches were effected by rain in this World Cup, which is why the World Cup feels boring and dull.

The Bangladesh team fought back brilliantly even if they were never in the game. Their bowlers messed up brutally except for Sarkar, but their batsmen showed a lot of spirit out there for their fans pushing all the way to 333 which is worth commending.

If they continue to improve at this rate, they might be the team to look at in the upcoming World Cup events. Personally, I never expected them to reach the 300 mark too, but they surprised me. Amazing batting effort indeed.

Next 3 weeks will be very boring, top 4 teams almost finalized. Today match, there is no match in England and Sri Lanka, England playing very good cricket while Lanka playing worst cricket, just wanted England play first and score over 400, when World Cup started we thought there will be many 400+ score but until now no one able to score 400.

Remember the  World Cup in 1996 semi-final in Kolkata, where Srilanka lost their openers in a first over and yet they manage to win against India and further manage to win the world cup too.
Fernando is playing well on 25 in 22 balls and if srilanka is able to make 300+ score, they can put England team in a little bit of pressure.

I think the decision of ICC to make the format of World Cup like League backfired. ICC thought league format will make tournament more interesting and competitive but at international level no matter which sports is it, knockout format with group stages is always preferred due to huge difference in quality of international squads.
However, Bangladesh is trying its best to outperform big teams and it is quite exciting to watch that. They have beaten the teams like South Africa and West Indies and gave tough competition to Australia and NZ. Whereas Afghanistan disappointed very much.

It is exciting to see Bangladesh is playing. They are playing entertaining cricket. Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, South Africa, Pakistan or even West Indies are boring too see in this world cup.

It's bad luck for us viewers that we could not see the best between New Zealand vs Bangladesh and may be for that wash up match the chances for them (Bangladesh) were gone away to have their spot in the Semi. I am considering Bangladesh to win against Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Anyway, back to today's very boring match. Sri Lanka are five down and may be they will be able to score max 240 or so.

True, majority of the encounters are like this. not much fun tbh and I agree with @Webtricks too when he says "backfire with ICC's strategy," but they are helpless also, they opted for top ten teams and bottom ranking teams not playing good cricket if we leave out the 1-2 match.

Its like a great empire has fallen. They have become worse than Bangladesh at the moment and they seriously need to restructure their team to improve their odds in the future. Malinga started well though taking 2 wickets already. Root would be a big scalp here.
