It seems to me that such situations happen in different sports and they are really unfair.  It seems to me that in some cases you need to change the rules to take into account weather conditions.  We are watching the competition teams, and not on the actions of people in extreme conditions.

I am a true soccer fan and nothing will stop the game play whether it is rain or snow the match continues, cricket is not a one dimensional sport and weather will play a significant role in the outcome of the match and hence to find a balance is very difficult. The good news is that the play will continue tomorrow from where it is interrupted as they have a reserve day, but the intricacies that comes if tomorrow is also affected by rain is a hard puzzle for me to understand because of the probability factor and it is just a fictitious calculation  .

Forecast for tomorrow isn't good too but we do hope that we get at least 20 overs tomorrow so that a deserving team reaches the final after playing good cricket.

If NZ inning declared tomorrow before playing any single ball then India has to play and run according to below

Hitting 148 runs in 20 over is not easy.

And if rain continues then India will be in final and it deserve it. Because of their performance, India is on top of list. As Indian I wish India enter in final without playing a match

The good thing is that the match will be resuming at 10:30 am and the first bout of rain is predicted after 12pm (GMT). And after that brief interruption, there is no issue with rain until 5pm. So we should be having a proper 50 over match, as less than 54 overs are remaining. But obviously, these weather predictions are not 100% reliable, especially in case of England.

ROFL... If that was possible, then the ICC would definitely do that. They changed the format of the world cup, so that India has a better chance of qualifying to the playoffs. Had India crashed out during the group stage, then ICC would have lost a lot of money. Now they can sleep in peace, as it is almost assured that India will be playing in the finals.

I am yet to come across a sports body, that is more greedy than the ICC.

It's still raining in Manchester. I think no game will be today as well, if so, India will qualify for the final which is pretty worse and bad luck for NZ. They might lose the match but without playing? That will really be disappointing, ICC must ignore that shit rules. That sucks really.

No doubt the ICC is managed by the Big three (India, Australia and England). And most of the revenue comes to ICC through Indian matches.
But England does not have the World Cup in their hands and they need it this time.  (what's the use of the power when England cant get the cup  )

They could have done it but without playing is not a real win for any team,and also we cannot say that they will play this game better as well just because they played good this year like anything can happen at any time.But let the weather decide who is going to be the winner and as for now its India.

Can't really blame anyone here. The global weather patterns are changing due to human-induced climate change. Here in India we are having drought-like conditions in certain parts like central India and at the same time we are having flooding in some other parts. The next edition of the world cup will be even more interesting, as India will be hosting it.

Five for 1 and I think it is going to be a very tough chase without the most run scorer of this tournament since he got out too early

Like I said earlier big matches will have different attitude compared to league matches.
