Draws 1000 watts from the wall Assuming 90% is actually wattage used with gold psu, that's only 900 watts.

exactly. however, 90% draw is pretty intense for 24/7.  I beleive Bitmain is capable of knowing/understanding this so that they either use a quality enermax PSU or actually draw closer to 850W during normal operation. Its known the chips can achieve as low as 0.68J/GH (J=W) so its quite possible they are tuned to draw the ideal 80% of the psu rating.

we will know in 2 weeks or less. until then, its all just conjecture and imagination. The written specs dont give much info and are little more then an approximate placeholder.

24" PCI-E cables with 16AWG wires and stripped ends - great for server PSU mods, best prices https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=563461

I've got 10 Ants running right now and it is loud and hot! I think it is worth the premium if the unit is cool and quiet,I don't plan to pre order but once they have equipment ready for purchase I will upgrade for sure.

I know I'm late to the party on this one but if you think ANTMINER S1s are loud/hot, you've never seen an Avalon clone!  Try twice the power use and 100% fans...

... however, 90% draw is pretty intense for 24/7.  I beleive Bitmain is capable of knowing/understanding this so that they either use a quality enermax PSU or actually draw closer to 850W during normal operation.

You guys are funny, debating this PSU thing all day long.  QUALITY of the PSU means everything...  And that Enermax fits the bill.  The plugloadsolutions.com PDF (ie official 80 Gold document) states they tested it @ 100% load, 1112W at the wall (input watts), 74A and the 12V line stayed 12.1V.  That's killer!  Blah blah blah 24/7/365... yeah well I had a 910W Silencer PC Power and Cooling 80+ Silver supply that I put on a 4 module Avalon that pulled 970W @ the wall and ran it that way for over 6 months.  No issues, rock solid setup.  If BitMain ships it with a 1KW supply and you don't like it FINE, then just keep it as a spare - never can have too many PSUs in bitcoin land!

I agree with the other people in the thread - I'd like to see it without a power supply.  Makes the unit a little less expensive - plus makes it easier to keep up and running IMHO.  I've already got a bunch of good supplies to run my S1's  so I could just repurpose some of those for an S2 - and have a more redundant setup than a built in supply.

Of course I'd also like to see it at a lower price point - and dropping teh supply out might bring the price down by at least $100 - plus make it easier to pass thru customs.

Bitmain just updated their site with a sketch of what the unit should look like.

Will stick to my S1 x 12 set up paid average 1.1BTC. Over the past month they have produced at least 5 BTC  (2.16TH)

Not a single issue with any of the S1's very stable quite and low consumption.

Like the S2 but not interested at the minute bit too high in price and a few unknowns

Will it as stable and reliable as the S1?

Whats the import duty?

Noticed the S1 price has started to move up 0.92 2 days ago 0.988 today

Bottom line is time = money waiting upto a  month to start hashing with S2 would cost me $3600

2000 watts? Is that some scam by the electric company to drive up usage?

at 850watt draw from a 1000watt PS, I would rather have $50-$100 more spent to get the 1350watt supply or the new 1100watt one.

S2 case is not like "Ant style" at all!
Wait for S3 but I don't know how to properly throw 6 coupons away.

maybe you can sell your account, how much is worth each?
A good idea!
6 AntMiner S1 Coupon 0.055 BTC

I checked and we can change all information on the account and sell it but we have to trust each other.
BTW, I may help some of my friends to go into Bitcoin world but I am afraid just in case Bitcoin get worse...

Does anybody know what Bitmain's coupon code policy is?  I've got multiple coupons sitting in my account - and I'd like the get another S1 on mined coin.  Slush has been slow lately so it's taking me a while to get there.  I'm trying to figure out when I'd have enough - but I'm not sure if Bitmain will let me use all three of the coupons I've got at once.

The last time I tried you could just use one coupon per miner. And for example if your coupons are from the S1 you are not going to be able to use them to purchase a S2
