Yup, thanks also to Dwight as he started that run and after that everything went well for the whole squad, and like what I mentioned those players who finished the game they shows great defense, same with your observations, Edu gave tough game for the visiting team, he's presence inside contest each attempts, looking to see him more healthier in these upcoming games.

It was really their defense that sparked the comeback. They weren’t hitting much from the outside, but once they locked in defensively, you could see their confidence slowly come back, and the crowd fed off that energy, helping push them all the way to a comeback win. That’s exactly the kind of Gilas team I’d like to see in the upcoming FIBA Asia tournament, the type you’d actually feel confident risking money on. IIRC, the live odds when they were down by double digits went as high as x5, a steal for anyone who believed and took the risk.

Wow, if there are gamblers who loves taking big risk like that, surely they just don't enjoy the game but it gaves them decent amount of money to cash out from the sport bookies, and same with you, thats the type of chemistries that I wanted to see , they are really giving tough time for the scorers to make a basket though the visiting team alo fought back and try rallying but thanks to JBL hitting that almost a 24 seconds violation, that put the team to 4 point lead then secure another good defense and a posterized dunk from Edu that really secure that win.

One problem that Gilas need to patch is the big man, since other countries has big men, we can't let smaller guys, guarding big man it will hurt them in a long run, since that is not their position, adding junmar will be a great help and also boost the team moral, since they know they can count on rebounds and can concentrate in their role, giving them a sight of relief when they are taking shots outside, hoping we can have a better big man, and not injury prone, to be able to compete on the level of other countries hopefully we develop them.

It can't be patched. We need to accept the fact that we're always at a height disadvantage against most countries.

Look at the improvement of the Gilas roster year by year, season by season, and so on, especially in the part where there are several local players now that we can consider having a good height being added to the pool. Before, big guys could only be found on the PBA, but in today's generation, young players with notable height can be seen in collegiate leagues like the NCAA and UAAP.

I'll still acknowledge Chot for the wins that they've done during his stay with the team. But it's a fact that there's a big change when CTC replaced him. He's more likeable and I think that the cheer of people for him to resign also got him pressured and mentally stressed. He knew that time will happen and there was even a point that he has offered himself if the team needs some help. I'm also positive that the team can become a champ on this one. Puso as they say and despite that there are height differences, the team knows how to handle the game that way. This current generation isn't just all about height but the adjustment is there and these young guns can uplift not just the team in this tournament but also the actual basketball scene in the country.

We need more players with height like Kai Sotto or Edu but can shoot well in the perimeter, if that can happen for sure we will be competitive against a European teams. We will struggle against New Zealand as the Boomers have the height advantage against the Gilas plus their bigs have a decent perimeter shooting percentage.

We don’t really have many big men, and even Fajardo, who’s the most dominant in the PBA, looks just average in this tournament. I think AJ Edu will be more valuable than JMF because of his mobility, he’s quick, can defend well, and that’s exactly what we need. I’m hoping he makes the final 12 to represent the country. These days, it’s not just about height anymore; the game is much faster, and as long as we’ve got solid shooters and relentless pressure defense, we’ll always have a shot against top teams. This is just the FIBA Asia Cup anyway, not as tough as the World Cup campaign.

The only difference now is we don't have Kai, we know his value inside as he can really intimidate whoever that will try to take strong to the basket, though like what you said the athleticism of the players improves a lot, young and not that so old players are blend together with one goals, they'll playing to win and to bring pride and glory to the country that they're representing.

I’ve got a feeling that either Standhardinger or Mikey Williams will end up with the Hotshots, but not both, since that would be blatant cheating, haha. It seems Mikey is leaning toward playing for SMB, especially since he used to hang out with some of their Fil-Ams. But he should respect the rules and not try to bypass what the league has put in place. Converge already offered him a deal worth more than what Junemar Fajardo gets monthly, he needs to remember, this is the PBA, not the NBA. At 34 years old, his playing years are limited, so if I were him, I’d take the offer.

I’ve got a feeling that either Standhardinger or Mikey Williams will end up with the Hotshots, but not both, since that would be blatant cheating, haha. It seems Mikey is leaning toward playing for SMB, especially since he used to hang out with some of their Fil-Ams. Good for Malonzo, and honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if more players follow the same path. Not long ago, Arvin Tolentino also left NorthPort to play in Korea, and now more quality players are leaving the PBA because of the big salary gap. If this keeps up, the PBA might lose its competitiveness since top players are moving out, and with MPBL gaining popularity fast, it could even become as big or bigger than the PBA in the future.

You guessed it. The main obstacle is money.

According to a team source, Williams declined a generous one-year offer that would pay P1.2 million a month including perks and bonuses. In today's currency exchange rate, that's a cool $21,428.

Apparently, it didn't sway the former TNT star who allegedly wanted at least the reported $26,000 a month inclusive of perks and bonuses that he was being paid while with the Tropang 5G.

In short, that's true since Spin even already made an article for it. TBH, I just don't know why Converge wanted to get him in the first place. I mean he's asking too much compared to other players out there who have way more achievements than him. Just look at Fajardo or even Tenorio for example. They won many titles and Fajardo already have many accolades in his PBA Career, but he isn't asking for too much money (unless there's an under the table money that's been given to him). So he might be seeking a higher salary because he believe so much that his talent could bring a championship to the team.

Gilas would have been working and always better, its started when MVP manage the Gilas roster, SMC will not allow their players to play they always not letting those players play, but when an SMC handles it, they all put SMC players that only means they are trying to not directly sabotaging the Gilas team during mvp days, just my observation what you guys think I'm not saying I'm correct.

Even if he doesn’t get traded, playing overseas is still the smartest move, it gives him a much bigger paycheck and a better chance to really make use of his talent.

An NBA agent who services clients in Asia told me that players of Malonzo's caliber, armed with mad skills and stout national team credentials, typically receive a starting salary of $40,000 a month or P2.24 million.
If he does well, as expected, with the Kyoto Hannaryz of the Japan B.League, Malonzo could get a bump of $50,000 a month, the figure which is believed to be what Thirdy Ravena was being paid before he left for Dubai.
At age 29, it's safe to say that he left Ginebra for greener pastures. And nobody should blame him for looking to feather his retirement nest. Playing hoops, after all, has a limited life span.

Well, TBH it's not surprising to me that he's making way more money than other players, but to earn that much in just one year is what surprises me, but thinking about it. He deserves it just because of how he carried and lead the SMB in multiple titles. I wonder how much he's making last year and this year. Maybe the same or even more now that they won a title again in the Philippine Cup. SMC can give that huge of a salary so... yeah, and he deserves it anyway.

I don't think that him being traded is the reason why he went to Japan B-league. He went there because he saw a better opportunity there, and he's still on his prime year as well so he took the risk, left the Ginebra and went to Japan. Ginebra don't hold any grudge with him, but they're a bit disappointed with the move.

Ginebra, and other big PBA teams are making independent teams their farm teams while Japan B-league and other basketball leagues in Asia are treating the whole PBA as a "FARM LEAGUE" where they're getting players from PBA. Kind of ironic if you will ask me, and for sure, this trend will continue as long as there are no changes in our PBA.
