I think he has already ended his contract with Koshigaya Alphas, so he's now a free agent. He hasn't made any announcement yet about where he will play next, so playing with Gilas now could also give other teams a chance to see if he's already back in good form.
That is good news. It means Kai Sotto is now looking for another team where he could possibly get a better opportunity and salary.

With his height and the improvement in his game, I believe he is already a valuable player when fully healthy. You can also see how much his body has developed, he has added more muscle and now looks more like a fully developed big man.

And since he doesn't have any commitment with another team yet, he can really give his best for Gilas.

But right now he is committed with playing in asian games.  ( we are the defending champion, we should still win even without JB).

I'm thinking of 2 things.
1. He might try and pursue his dream of becoming a NBA player.
2. Since you said that his contract has ended already, I'm assuming that he'll get signed after this 4th window to whatever B-league team it will be.

His focus now is on Gilas that's for sure and speaking of Gilas:

This is the final 14 players of our team that will be competing for the final 12 spots. Popular faces if you will ask me, and we have threat in every position. We have legit PG in Juan GDL who can also shoot threes, we have Ramos who's consistent, Tamayo and Quiambao who can fill the forward spot, Edu and Sotto who can defend the paint, and some good defenders like Thompson, Newsome, Baltazar, and maybe throw in Abbarientos on the list as well.

Our local team is stacked, and I will give one tip for those who are trying to bet on our Gilas. Jordan have a bad 3-pt shooting as well like our Gilas, so as long as they minimized the impact of their naturalized player, we have a chance of winning since they'll be having a hard time attacking the paint with Sotto defending it. I'm pretty sure they'll rely on outside shooting even more, and that's one of their weakness.

Thanks for sharing. Now we have the lineup and it’s confirmed that JB is not on the list, but the good news is we have Kai Sotto.

This lineup should still be competitive enough. Two players will still be removed, but as long as Sotto and Fajardo are there, I think we have an advantage inside the paint. JGD should also stay in the lineup. He is not afraid to shoot the ball and the kid has confidence, when he is given the chance to do the job, he usually delivers. Hopefully we finally get our first win tomorrow.

I could not find the odds yet for tomorrow’s game, but this one is already listed on Polymarket.
https://polymarket.com/sports/bkfibaqas/bkfibaqas-jor-phi-2026-08-28

The volume is still low, but it looks like Gilas is a slight favorite if I read it right. Though I’m not expecting the same once it gets listed in sportsbooks. There’s no import this time and that could be a problem.

Actually I want Gilas to be the underdog, because if the odds are good enough, I might be tempted to take them.

A better thing for the PH gilas as we will have now our 3 towers in the court. Kai Sotto, Junemar Fajardo and AJ Edu. This will boost our inside the paint D and offense.
Giants is one of the main problem of our country due to our luck of height in the matches.

Kai will seek for a new team anywhere outside our country to maximize the potential income. But I know that oneday he will play in the PBA also.
If Sotto will darft in the PBA, everyteam will be interested even SMB as Fajardo is getting old now. How much salary he can get after his rookie contract.

Yeah, it is good that we can witness once again the Gilas triple playing in our own homecourt.
Speaking of Fajardo, he said that this will be his last stint in the national team as he is retiring to give way to the young potentials which we don't have at the moment hehe. Justine Baltazar is already in while Justin Arana was cut in the final 12, maybe due to his size. he is just to small to play power forward in Gilas.

Gilas vs Jordan will be played tomorrow but the odds has not been released yet. Bookies might be having a hard time calculating what would be the spread since JB is not playing.

Yes, we still have AJ Edu, and based on their performance in the games they are playing, I think he is more useful than JMF right now, so this is good. JMF is quite slow and not really dominating when he is against a player as tall or as strong as him. But having him there is still good because of his size and experience.

By the way, I read a post that Abarrientos is already out, not sure who the other one is since they only need 12 players.

Kai will seek for a new team anywhere outside our country to maximize the potential income. But I know that oneday he will play in the PBA also.
If Sotto will darft in the PBA, everyteam will be interested even SMB as Fajardo is getting old now. How much salary he can get after his rookie contract.
But the PBA team that will land him is probably willing to offer a big salary. I’m just wondering if it would be bigger than what he was making in playing with overseas teams.

One day before the 4th window starts, our team just released their final 12.
Quote
1. Kai Sotto
2. Dwight Ramos
3. Juan Gomez De Liaño
4. Kevin Quiambao
5. Carl Tamayo
6. AJ Edu
7. June Mar Fajardo
8. Scottie Thompson
9. Chris Newsome
10. Justine Baltazar
11. CJ Perez
12. Troy Rosario
Looking at the roster, what I will say is that THIS TEAM'S STACKED. Kai and Edu will dominate the paint with both of them averaging 2 & 1 blocks per game. If you want a playmaker and a defender on the guard, you can have Juan GDL and Newsome or maybe Ramos. I mean there are so many combinations that Coach Tim Cone could use on this roster. It's stacked from guards to forwards to even the bigs. What I will say that with this line-up, as long as they can minimize the impact of the naturalized player of Jordan, they can defeat them. What do you think?

Anyway, now that they already released their final 12, I'm waiting for the odds and I'll put some bet on our Gilas to add some excitement while watching. Cheesy

I want this full pinoy roster to win and achieve a lot of things altogether. Because other fans are taunting them and don't believe on the capacity of what they can do. They have played so many international games and tournaments already and it's only a matter of time that they'll get more achievements and, this one is very important that's why I want them to succeed.
Their main goal is to score a 2-0 at least to both Jordan and Iran in order to increase their chances in getting a spot for the FIBA World Cup. I want them to achieve, but I don't know. I still have doubts on my mind. Something like "they might not do pretty well against other countries". Well I guess that's because I haven't see our team fought against other countries without any naturalized player at all that's why I don't know how good our local players are against them.

I guess the best thing that we can do is to hope for the best for them. This is the most important games for our team, and we need to sweep the series against Iran and Jordan because with their current standings, a mere one loss could have a huge effect towards our Gilas team in terms of going to the World Cup.
Before, our national team was having a hard time beating Iran. But I think this time even with this roster, they have a chance. While we have those doubts in our minds, let's keep that as a reservation and believe to what they can do because there's nothing we can do but to give them our full support.

That's right, and he's not getting any younger so if it's true that the rumors mentioned he's planning to get out of the Philippines, I hope that he gets to a country where he's valued well.
The guy needs buckos that's why it's a wise decision for him to play overseas.

He'll have an opportunity to make more money, at the same time he can still condition himself just in case our country needs his services and play in other games aside from the FIBA.
We wish him all the best, he's got a family to feed and dreams to fulfill. So if he stays and gets an opportunity still, that's good. But if it's already a farewell then that's understandable decision because no one can give that to him when a greener pasture offers him that.

Odds are already out and it is even. To be honest, i have a hard time thinking on whose to bet because we may like it or not this Gilas team is not the same team that beat Jordan in the Finals of the Asian games three years ago, much has changed. I just hope though that playing in their homecourt, Gilas will have the much needed energy and had a perfect game to beat this Jordanian team.

Good luck guys.

Look at that, kind of respect given to PH. No Brownlee and yet they are still listed as the favorite.

Hmm... I think I won’t be betting on Gilas here, and I don’t want to betray them as well, so I might just sit this one out and just watch the game while drinking beers with my buddies.
Good luck Gilas, sorry, not trusting you enough to bet this time.

I see another option, Gilas at over 79.5 ( I like this line).

This is huge! -1.5 for the PH. But I will definitely go with 79.5 Over.

Cheesy

Another Baranggay on the lineup with Troy Rosario? dont we have a younger and stronger one in the league? Rosario is really a good player (before) but I doubt he is one of the top big guys in the league now.
sorry but not sorry for that.

Don’t forget the game between Gilas and Jordan, currently live here. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kZCygqQZ-68

Unfortunately, we are down by double digits and Jordan is shooting really well from outside.

Still too early though, just trust the team. We can still come back and win this, especially since this is our home court. Hopefully they can give the fans a good finish.

Go Gilas!

Go Gilas!

From almost a 20-point lead by Jordan, now the lead is down to just 4 points. That last 3-point shot by Tamayo went in, so Gilas is really back in this game.

Hopefully the momentum continues, there’s still plenty of time in the second half. We just need to keep attacking and moving the ball well.

not 4 points but 5 points as the half time score was 44-39.

3rd quarter will start in a minute, and I’m just wondering what the odds were when Gilas was down by around 18 points. For sure the moneyline must have been huge, maybe even x10 or somewhere near that. Did anyone here manage to take that live bet? If Gilas completes the comeback and wins, that would be a really good payout.

And Gilas won the game! Thank you Kai Sotto for that huge block, and then another big defensive play by KQ.

That 3-point shot by KQ was really huge because it gave Gilas the lead. But it was almost a disaster when Scottie could not inbound the ball on time and they were called for a 5-second violation. Good thing we had Kai there, Jordan attacked the paint and he was able to block it.

Now the next assignment is Iran.

Congrats to the winners. I just hope you did not take Gilas -1.5 because they only won by 1 point.

Lost my bet on this one, should have taken the ML odds instead but it's okay no regret as long as the Gilas wins no problem with me.
That was a cinema, incredible finish is what we witnessed in that game. I thought that Gilas will fumble with that costly turn-over by Scottie Thompson but that block by Kai Sotto on Olajuwon was insane, "not in my house" type of block.

Scottie Thompson did an amazing job of locking down on defense on Jalen Harris in the 4th quarter that is why he played a lot of minutes down the stretch even though he didn't contribute offensively but he was there on defensive purposes.

In my end, I did bet on ML on Gilas.

But yes, it was a crazy ending, short of miracle for Gilas to make that huge comeback from time to time. Although we have a chance not to see an overtime and win it already. KQ to the rescue and that defensive gem by Kai.

Total effort by Gilas, we still have the homecourt advantage here.

That man behind -1.5 PH is a solid brain. And the 79.5 Under/Over ? whos the hell is that.

The start of the game really tella statement that Gilas will have a hard time beating the Jordan, RHJ was in the Jordan team right?
Kai told us something, CJ Perez always go out of the  cabinet when needed, KQ shoot that bullet. WOW just WOW.
There were so many bets that did not make it but that night! that night of a wonderful game so many Pinoy are shouting and jumping together like theres no disaster happening in our country and celebrating a little victory.

Thank you GILAS!

That man behind -1.5 PH is a solid brain. And the 79.5 Under/Over ? whos the hell is that.
This is probably the hardest thing to accept in betting, losing by just 0.5. And for the total, that could have gone under if Gilas did not make that comeback and force the game into overtime.

Gilas struggled early but they were able to come back in the second quarter. No Tamayo, no problem, and that also gave KQ more playing time.

That was really a wonderful game, almost like that overtime game against New Zealand. But this time we owned the game at home. Playing on your home court really helps, especially with the crowd giving the team extra energy.
