Xavi has performed well in the competition. His predecessor Koeman made a mess of it, while Xavi had to do without Messi. They also made the right purchases. Also good scouting policy of course. But you can bet that Xavi had his part in that too. much more insight than Koeman of course. the 2nd place was actually the maximum achievable after his arrival and that's great that they have made it (assuming they are 2nd) because the gap to Sevilla was quite large during the winter break. Where are you seeing that best performance of Barcelona? Barcelona is playing so poor now and the paying styles, tactics are not well enough to beat opposite team.
