Villarreal have suffered a drastic decline this season, after performing well in the Champions League, they struggled to finish in the top four and the Europa League zone. Throughout this season Villarreal's performances have never been consistent, as a result they had to settle for finishing seventh and entitled to appear in the Conference League. Victory in the last match against Barcelona did not change anything for both teams, Barcelona was safe in second place and Villarreal had to settle for finishing in seventh place, because their points acquisition could not catch up with the points collected by Real Sociedad.

Yes, at the beginning of the season Villarreal looked quite stunning they were able to be at the top of the standings but after being knocked out of the Champions League Villarreal seemed to have lost their enthusiasm in Laliga because of the defeat to Rela Sociedad which forced them to drop to 7th place in the standings and the victory from Barcelona did not change their position  in standings. But their achievement in the Champions League deserves appreciation this season for being able to penetrate to the semifinals.

Villarreal considered the Champions League more important than La Liga this season. So their performance in the Champions League was not consistent. They also played poorly against relatively weak teams. However, Villarreal's performance in the Champions League surprised everyone. We never imagined we would see Villarreal in the semi-finals of the champions league. The Villarreal team has several weaknesses. Villarreal will be even stronger next season if the coach gets enough funds to bring in the necessary players.

Let's say, it wasn't the catalans day for winning. Xavi's side lose in the final game, all credits go to the yellow submarine who hold off Barcelona at the Camp Nou. Despite Barca domination but failed to score in the game, it was embarrassing to them since they were home but couldn't help it. Because they have already sealed their place in the Champions league, while Villarreal are in the europa league, topping Athletic Bilbao with few points. It was definitely a big win for the visitors.

They played really well actually for possession but they didn't seem to have any kind of motivation to score there and indeed it only showed their passing and a few shots on goal.
On the other hand I really like Villarreal's defense in this match considering they came up with a solid defense and they only created a few chances there but managed to maximize them well.

The Barcelona - Villarreal game was quite awkward to me actually. Because Barcelona took control of the game as most people expected and kept it that way until the final whistle too. But this still couldn't prevent Villarreal from reaching their goal in this game. Maybe they didn't find many goal opportunities but the ones they found were enough for a win as it seems. This 2-0 win was very crucial for Villarreal to maintain their position in the standings and join the Europa Conference League. Maybe it's not a big tournament but it is better than not qualifying for anything.

Not really a crucial winning for villareal , as bilbao the one who can takeover the european competition out of villareal get lost to sevilla , so even if villareal lost they will still at the 7th place to play in the europa conference league next season.

Villarreal's defense was solid in this match and the Champions League match with a big club gave a good effect for Villarreal I think because they can know the benchmarks and create momentum against big teams.

Athletico Madrid played a 1-1 draw against Sevilla. The game was just a fair play between the both team, since Real Betis were lagging behind. The both teams have safely secured their place in the Champions League next season. While, Sevilla had a terrible season imo, Although, they ended at the 4th position. But their performance were unstable throughout the season.

However, Atletico won greatly yesterday against Real Sociedad. Despite, playing away, they were able to score 2 goals after ending the first half in scoreless draw. And ended the season in a decent position on the standings.
