So if Girona hadn't made this mistake they probably would have won or at least drawn and got 1 point.

Every season one of the ordinary clubs takes off, but the most difficult task is not to continue to progress, but to at least maintain what has already been achieved. Newcastle is a different story than Union Berlin by miles and miles and miles. They are playing in the Premier League and even an investor doesn't guarantee that they can out of nowhere compete with Manchester City and Liverpool and yet they are 8th in the Premier League at the moment and I don't deem their drop in performance that significant. It is clearly a drop, but not comparable to Union Berlin.

Girona is owned by Guariola's brother in part at least and they have an investor group backing them up. I am not sure what they are going to do at the end of the season and especially during the transfer period, but I don't see a 90% chance that they would end up like Union Berlin.
