Hello Sandor111, great work you're doing. I am curious as to why my seed speed hasn't calmed down to something more reasonable over the last ump-teen hours using autotune...They adjusted over several hours but settled at what seems to be their maximum-overkill setting which is yielding too high an Accepts to HW error ratio. Some just a hair under or over 10% and that's just too high! Way! Do I have to manually guess and set them to lower speeds now after all that automatic tuning? I sure love the autotune feature. I guess it still needs a bit of tweaking. Let me know if you want me to take and send you a log file or not. Thanks! Wolfey2014 That looks Odd, I get a clean 510KH @ 1200Mhz and this is EXACTLY what shows in the pool... This is with Cgminer.. And I get <5HW Per 24Hr wtf is Sandor? Sandy! Where are ya? I don't much like the idea of being suckerd into being your guinea pig I'm reverting back to your previous version due to the bug with autotune and HW error count being too high because all pods are being pushed over 1200MHz and held there, in this ver. I love the simplicity of it though. I'd like to see output scrolling below simultaniously. I saw someone else had theirs set that way and mine wasn't (same ver) so I know it's not the default. Would it be --text=y ? D-OH! I'm such a noob! Again! Please let me know when these two issues have been licked so I can upgrade again. Thanks Sandor!

Thank you J4bberwock - got it downloading. ____________________________________________ re: only one chip working after volt mod attempt I posted photos of the solder that came out from under a gridchip on my pod here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=519112.msg6432641#msg6432641 The cleanup went pretty good but still only one chip working after that. No mods, back to stock using the untouched 33k. I tried to mine Bitcoin to see if that part of the chips worked and it mine for a few minutes and quit. I thought it was done for. It wouldn't mine anything after that. So I've been practicing my soldering on it and got it back mining on 1 chip using the stock resistor. I put a 47.5k resistor in the R52 spot like Wolfey does his 49.9k and to my surprise now chips 2, 3 & 4 are working ! ! ! I might end up with a 275+ kh/s pod. Electrically, what is going on here? Why would two more chips start working by replacing the 33k resistor with a 47.5k? I had tried it again just minutes before changing that resistor and only one chip worked. Any ideas to help me get the other two chips working?

Your problem could be another 1 or couple or few compromised components. Check them against the specs', others tests on same etc. and see if you can narrow down where the other compromised part/s is/are. Nice save! Good luck!

@Happydaze - what you might try to check is the voltage on the vIN pins on the gc3355 chips. Test them all, ones that vary may lead to another clue as to where the fault is. Between looking at the board and the schematics you can likely trace back the supply voltage line and test at various points along the way to try and narrow down the possibilities.

Hey everyone.
I had a Gridseed 5 chip that came from gawminers that would not hash at all, it detected, but always got 0khash no matter what I did, even trying two separate computers, swapping cables, etc.. I was ready to RMA the miner, but as a last ditch effort, I remember back to my xbox 360 RROD days and thought I would try to reflow the solder with a heatgun. To my surprise... the gridseed now works perfectly! running stock speeds for now, but I'll try the resistor mod in a few days if it still is hashing nicely.
Anyways, if you have some dead gridseeds, try a solder reflow!
For Wolfy:On another note, I have same issue with autotune. It eventually makes the pods run higher than is efficient. Even if it doesn't get hardware errors, I notice that sometimes hashrate suffers. I've resorted to manually programming mhz on alll the pods based on the data I gather using autotune, my hashrate doesn't suffer that way. Would be interested to know the autotune formula. It seems that chips can stop being efficient at higher clocks without triggering HW errors anyways.
For Sandor: Just wanted to say, now using your new miner on both windows and raspberry pi... very stable (when not using --debug or --log). cgminer on my raspberry pi would die every hour, your cpuminer is running like a champ for hours and hours.

Confirmed it was a bad barrel plug with the multimeter. I guess it teaches me to test these things before using them...so sad...not a bad looking paperweight but still What exactly was wrong with the barrel plug? polarity reversed? intermittent / flaky power? I'm having a hard time imagining what could go wrong with the barrel plug to make it burn out like that... I really don't know. Here is the series of events: 1. Newly wired PS (IBM 835w to 11 barrel plugs using 16AWG. This is the third one I have made.) 2. Not thinking to test by plugging in one miner at a time (like I did with the first two PS's) I wired up 10 pods to the PS and turned it on. 3. Spark bang smoke 4. Turned off the PS within 5 seconds. Think I was in shocked for a bit 5. Unplugged all the pods. Tried a different connector and PS to the damaged pod..nothing :/ 6. Tried the bad barrel plug in another pod...started to spark and smoke but I quickly disconnected it. It still works although you can see some black charring on it. Guess I lucked out on this one. 7. Replaced the barrel plug with another one and plugged it into a working pod....worked! 8. Wired up the remaining 9 pods to the power supply and all are working. Today at lunch I went home with the multimeter and used a known working PS and tested each barrel plug to see what voltage it was providing..they all came in at around 13-14v. It's a needle type multimeter so hard to say exactly. Unscrewed one of the known good barrel plugs and wired up the bad one. No reading on the connector end. Zero...tried to see if it was reverse polarity but still nothing. Pressed the probes onto the wires and it was good there...also good on the barrel plug screws. So I'm not sure what the deal is. Edit: If anyone with the skills to check would like the bad barrel plug to investigate let me know. I will ship it out USPS at my expense as long as your in the states. Not necessary. The internal part of the barrel is obviously shorted out, perhaps via a caved in or pinched barrel or mis-soldering / mis-wiring and or it's just a defective part that got through QC without being picked up on. It happens. From now on make darn sure you test all plugs and if needs be, jacks / receptacles with a DVM or the analog equivalent and use the 0 ohm or short test with beep when shorted so you know if it's open or short and verify voltage and polarity are correct with the proper meter setting. Yes it's DC not AC for you greenhorns I have 99 male coaxial power connectors with screw on type wire terminals and they allow for testing in or out of circuit. Nice! I'll post pics of my new rig when she's all fired up and hashin in the cash! Woof! Woof! Thanks Wolfey. You gave me the idea to check the bad plug for continuity. I set the multimeter to the dial position you use to calibrate it by touching the two probes together (0 ohm) to test the barrel plug. Well it looks like the "-" screw connector goes to the center of the plug ! The "+" screw connector does not get a reading at all on either the inside or outside of the plug. Checked the 16 remaining screw type barrel plugs I have left over and their all fine. Guess I had 1 out of the 50 that was bad. Soooo sad

Does anyone have a sample config for cpuminer? I want to switch my CGMiners over to it, in hopes that I can avoid crashing every 8 hours.
I would like a mining script config with at least 3 backup pools, and I am just not sure how to setup the config file, and how to load it with running ./minerd on my pi.
Do I just make a config file and run it like ./minerd-gc3355 --config miner.conf or something? Similar to CGMiner?

It just occurred to me. Shouldn't the GUI/TUI config issues and debugging stuff all be under support/turning thread? Anyway. I found 2 of my miners dead when I checked them this morning. A comm port reset (disable/enable) took care of it, thank goodness! But after running for weeks upon weeks without any drop out issues, this is very disconcerting. I don't need pod disconcert in my life! GO AWAY! So this didn't happen until I reverted to the previous version of Sandor111's latest updates. Oh, and I see pretty much the same issue with this version where sticking at over 1200MHz happens too. Perhaps they kicked off line after being pushed too hard for so long. Not sure. Or it's just a uP fart caused it. Who knows. I am not looking forward to having keep an eye on the drop out issue again, dammit! I've restarted the latest non-scrolling (unless Sandor has updated it since) ver. again since the previous one has the same 'stuck at 1225+' problem too, just to get them running again. Have you corrected this issue Sandor? I see you've been busy correcting the TUI issue. Perhaps I missed an update while catching up on this thread. Oh, and how do you get the GUI to resize without using all the per-defined settings? Someone got there's adjusted so they can see the summary and scrolling output at the same time. Can we get these two issues squared away? It they have been, please forgive my reader lameness and show me the link for the updated Sandor-minerd. Thanks! Wolfman EDIT: Just fixed the scrolling issue. Like the others that did, I simply resized the window, restarted and voila! Perfectio! Now if we can just get autotune fine tuned and the red/green color indicators back....

I will try to. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep posting what I find as clues for anyone that can help me. For example I've found that with the 3 working chips at 1000MHz single mode mining the damaged pod is drawing 34 watts with a 47.5k resistor in the R139 spot. I think that is high so I did not let it run unattended overnight. I ran it this morning and it still finds 3 chips. I'll work on it this afternoon.

I will try to. Thanks for the suggestion. I'll keep posting what I find as clues for anyone that can help me. For example I've found that with the 3 working chips at 1000MHz single mode mining the damaged pod is drawing 34 watts with a 47.5k resistor in the R139 spot. I think that is high so I did not let it run unattended overnight. I ran it this morning and it still finds 3 chips. I'll work on it this afternoon. hmm, sounds like the work of a hidden dummy load... that's WAY too high for only 3 working chips, keep searching.....something's still drawing too much current - it could be those chips pulling too much current too due to being compromised by previous problem. They still might end up being declared 'shot' and the chips will all have to be replaced. Could be a faulty support or driver component sucking too much current otherwise. keep lookin

So to post some good news after the lot bad from my side i got 20nF capacitors today and fixed my not working gridseed *puhh* but no vmodding for me anymore to small and tiny ..
anyway has someone info if hashra wi update to sandors cpuminer ?
