It was actually 9 Compac F's And he's correct. You really should get an ASIC to have a better chance at solving a block. oh was that you that found the block with the 9 compac F's? if so, how long were you mining solo before that amazing day? that is incredible! [/quote] Yes that was me. I had been mining for a few months with the Compac F's but I was also buying / renting hashpower from Nicehash on and off during that time. When I ran out of Nicehash's power I just kept my little USB miners on and plugging away. A few days later one of my little usb soldiers hit the lottery. I was asleep when it happened but I had about 8.45T of USB miners all from Sidehack / Gekkoscience pointed at the pool. I am still mining here under another btc address and I will be forever grateful to all of those that helped me along this journey. I am truly lucky.

In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

I just can't imagine the feeling of checking and seeing that you hit a block. especially given the hash power you have or had....speaking of, did you use any of that bitcoin to buy an asic or you still plugging away with your compac F's? I looked into nicehash marketplace the other day but didn't spend enough time to figure out how it works. i mean, it doesn't appear to be bought for a specific amount of time right? or is it? like you buy 1PHs for 1 day and it cost X amount of btc?

Yeah I noticed once you found a block two times very close together. It was a while ago but that must've been an amazing feeling lol. So for the percentages at the end, does it mean once it reaches 100%, it would be losing more money than winning? So each time you win a block, that percentage drops again? Is that how it works?

First time poster after lurking after your BTC Magazine article. And that's why I'm here. In that interview (talking about the multiple solo miners who've recently earned their BTC) you say ..."People believe that you need a powerful enough ASIC to actually solve a block, and that’s not true... but even the smallest miner can solve it.”
Now you're saying 'get an ASIC'. I'm actually going to get one of the new Mac Studios (very favorable terms thru connections) - already have a MBP for Xcode, was going to set it up and solo mine, knowing the odds, but just for the exercise of getting the Linux on, inst your software, and let it crank away. In some ways I'll be helping the fruit company tax their new rig, see what it can do. Am I taking your answer to the previous poster out of context? Thx in adv.
Longtime tech guy - FORTRAN - so respect what you've done.
I said you can, I never said you should, and the article is a significantly summarised version of the whole interview, as mining is far more nuanced than that. You can mine by hand with pen and paper too, but you shouldn't do that either. A realistic minimum would be a USB stick miner. Less than that the odds are beyond astronomically low and the energy waste is enormous. Additionally the mechanism of mining with something other than an ASIC is so different that it doesn't really teach you about modern mining.

But I guess it isn't what he wanted to hear lol. Something similar happened to me the other day, trying to explain to someone the reason they're having trouble trying to mine Bitcoin is most likely because they're using a tutorial from 2017....which implies it's highly unlikely they did any meaningful amount of research and probably was trying to mine with a CPU or GPU. Me pointing all this out wasn't what they wanted to hear either and they got mad at me for it I appreciate you!

Our lucky usb Miner Sledge0001 Great story and all is startet wir our Blockparty Runs Yes on Nicehash you have to configure your pool like this solo pool, select a protokoll like Sha256 and take the speed what you want and amount of BTC what you will spend in your rental, that is all. All true! I decided to join Willi9974's block party and we just happened to hit a block on my 2nd run with him! I took some of those earnings and bought a good load of 23+ USB Miners (Now just about 9TH worth running and then really hit paydirt with the block! I'm still mining away here with slightly different tuning. https://solo.ckpool.org/users/3HhVptBBGDm8NoYk7YdafcuHy9KYwJzMWg) I'm also waiting on 2 x Bitmain S19A Pro's (110TH) to get fired up at a remote facility which will also be pointed here. Really praying that lightning strikes twice for me! Lol. I know it's a longshot but I also know only it's possible if I keep rolling the dice!

I have 4 s19j pro and the truth is that there are days that I think about putting all of them on Ckpool.... tried a month with 3 and nothing, nothing has come out... I see it so complicated that I'm afraid to try again and not hit a block. In the end, Ckpool wins because I need a few years to mine those 6.25 bitcoins, but if you spend a year hitting a block, the cost of energy and investment of the asics is very high....

Next Blockparty Run 17 is in planing you can post here or in the main topic --> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5389622.0i keep an eye on both topics (here and in the main topic) 4-5 seats are free at the moment.3-4 seats are free at the moment.2-3 seats are free at the moment.1-2 seats are free at the moment. ##################### Hello all, let's go to the next group buy from Hashingpower. As already requested by some forum users I put a new group buy for solo mining. Start at the earliest after the next diff reduction. ~15-18 users for each 0.01 BTC can participate. A higher number is not useful, otherwise a possible profit will be much too small. If smaller amounts than the minimum amount are allowed in a single case, then the calculation of the rewards will be based on the amount of BTC deposited. Hashingpower is rented on Nicehash and shot on the solo pool. The status of the group run can be observed during the runtime via the Live View link. Here you can see what our hashingpower is and what our highest share / bestshare is. If a block is found, the reward will be paid out to the participants. Lets go and let us find a block In the past we had found 9 blocks --> 188 BTC! Block list: 385022, 394940, 394946, 395087, 396941, 399709, 401934, 706369, 712217 Those who want to participate send their BTC to the following address 3KWE8HcunSfvfNBy3CdXZdQ2HyvierBxeT and post their participation with the following template: Please send your coins only if there is still a place available.Again two people have sent coins although they had no space. The effort to manage this increases and increases. FROM NOW I CONSIDER EVERY TX SENT WITHOUT HAVING A PLACE AS MY PERSONAL DONATION.If you are unsure, ask first! To make it a little easier in the new year, I've decided to do the reservations differently. In the new year there are only reservations for people who pay at least 10 block party runs in front. If the quota is exhausted, the place will be automatically free and someone else can use the place. Specifically, we start with the Blockparty Run 2022-1 and if someone sends 20x 0.01 BTC at the first time, he is practically permanent until the Blockparty Run 20. If someone joins the Blockparty Run 2022-7 and sends 10x 0.01 BTC, he will be a member until Blockparty Run 17. This simplifies the organization and places are not permanently taken by the same people, unless someone sends 50x 0.01 BTC for the 50 planned Runs. If we should not create at the end 2022 the Runs, for which someone already paid, the last Run in 2022 all payments are used around longer to run. Please send reservation amounts only when you read an OK from me!Participation template for copy & paste +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Groupbuy Wallet: 3KWE8HcunSfvfNBy3CdXZdQ2HyvierBxeT Return Wallet: [enter your wallet address here where any winnings will be paid out]. Get a great power supply. Make sure you can deliver at least something like 3A for the compac f to get stable hashrates. Also keep in mind these little guys run hot, so consider adding some kind of fan. You can then use any mining software, like cgminer for example, and connect it to the pool you want, like ckpool solo for example. Here is one of the posts from Sledge0001 that started his path to getting his block eventually: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5373190.0

"Chance" not that one "should" be found every XX days, but there is a chance that one is found. With solo, and pplns pools its all about luck and all the calculators in the world will just give you is probability, not certainty.
