It is a gamble, we hit som blocks and I pay off all the user, but yes, we find not so often a block.
All it is, is t is luck!

i was bit late for this run but definitely on the next one.

With this payment, Nice Hash pool will give you this power for a few days at today's price
Now, according to the calculator book, with this power, at least 61 days of blocks can be obtained.
How many days did you manage to gain power with this money?
I think it will be 30 days, right? If I am right, your chances are 50/50 and this is relatively good.
In your first sentence you (correctly) state that they can buy a few days worth and in your last sentence you state 30 days, does not compute  Wink

So I don't know how you got 30 days but the group run uses about 0,18 btc and with that you can buy approximately 1 day and 17 hours (~1.7 days) worth of 25PH so the odds are something like 2.8% of hitting a block (1,7 / 61 * 100) or very roughly 1 in 36.

By the way, easier way to roughly 'calculate' this is to just divide the block reward (6.25) by the used amount (0.18) to buy hashpower: 6.25/0.18=34.7 The odds in reality are a little worse because of Nicehash fees and the fact that hashpower is more expensive there.

Would it make any difference instead of buying 25ph for 24 hours, buy 100ph for 6 hours or 120ph for 4 hours (or something like that). ?     I noticed that when I run 80ph for a short time i get 4,255 miners running vs. 20ph when I get about 1910 miners.  I tried 100ph for 1 hour and found 5,450 miners running.   Didn't have success but noticed getting into the trillions faster.   Does it help having significantly more miners running alltogether or does that not matter?

You are right
I myself participated in the car lottery 26 times. 3000 cars for initial sale 200000 participants. I participated in the lottery once a month for 16 months and won twice. Luck was with me.
Being a family with 6 chances did not win even once
That's all the chance

25ph for 24 hours or 100ph for 6 hours

It makes no difference.

Unless that 18 hour window contains the difficulty adjustment, which happens roughly every 2 weeks. Then one option might be slightly easier or harder than the other.

But yeah, that's the exception of the rule, in general it doesn't matter.

Guys quick question, until now i've always used the binance btc "regular" address for solo mining.

Since there is also an option to use "btc segwit" and the address is different, lets supose i mine a block, would it be a problem to use "regular" btc instead of segwit?

Which "wallet" do you guys use when solo mining?

Doesn't matter what sort of address you use. I'd recommend a segwit address anyway as it will mean a more compact and cheaper transaction in the future if/when you spend it. Hard to beat the bitcoin core client as a wallet but it doesn't matter what wallet you use, so long as you host it yourself.

Don't use an exchange wallet for this unless you are sure they allow coinbase (newly minted coins) transactions. In february/march we had a discussion about it because someone wanted to use their coinbase (the exchange) address. Ultimately the answer was:

Hello, is there a way to get notified over email if you hit a block?? It would be a nice feature. Thank you.

Just get a wallet with an app that notifies you of a deposit, nice hash, binance whatever
1) Those are third party sites and not under your own control: not your keys, not your bitcoin. Don't think that is very smart.
2) some sites do not accept coinbase transactions as a deposit so if one is to use one of those 'wallets' then make damn sure they allow it.

When you say make damn sure they allow it..... How does one do that?

Ask them  Wink

I received info back from Coinbase.com.   Answer: "you can not and should not use your coinbase account to receive any mining rewards or block reward."  So, that's out.  I am running a full node so i can always use that address.  Good to know that coinbase doesn't accept/allow that.

Now, I don't know if Binance allows it or not but I wouldn't want to risk hitting and not getting it in the end. Use the bitcoin core client as -ck says or for instance the Electrum wallet. Both are completely under your own control.

Nah, I just installed Electrum and change address to that.

Dont know why, I though using Electrum was more difficult that it really is xD

Hi Guys the current difficulty is 29.72T is that means 29.72 TH and you need minimum 29.72TH Hashing  power to solve it?

no

long answer is

think of the biggest fucking wheel of numbers.

1 up to whatever.

you spin the wheel you must spin higher than 29.72t

your gears hashrate only determines how fast and often  you can spin the wheel.

1ph of gear say 20x s17 pros should spin the wheel fast enough and often enough to hit a block in six years.

29.72 th is slower and should spin the wheel of chance fast and often enough to hit a block in about 180 years.

there are more variables since the diff changes every two weeks.

we start the orga of the Blockparty Run 24

Main Topic here and in the german board, i keep booth topics in sync --> https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5405170.0

Hello all,

let's go to the next group buy from Hashingpower.

As already requested by some forum users I put a new group buy for solo mining. Start at the earliest after the next diff reduction.

~15-18 users for each 0.01 BTC can participate. A higher number is not useful, otherwise a possible profit will be much too small.
If smaller amounts than the minimum amount are allowed in a single case, then the calculation of the rewards will be based on the amount of BTC deposited.
Hashingpower is rented on Nicehash and shot on the solo pool.
The status of the group run can be observed during the runtime via the Live View link.
Here you can see what our hashingpower is and what our highest share / bestshare is.

If a block is found, the reward will be paid out to the participants.

Lets go and let us find a block

In the past we had found 9 blocks --> 188 BTC!
Block list: 385022, 394940, 394946, 395087, 396941, 399709, 401934, 706369, 712217

Those who want to participate send their BTC to the following address 3KWE8HcunSfvfNBy3CdXZdQ2HyvierBxeT and post their participation with the following template:

Please send your coins only if there is still a place available.

Again two people have sent coins although they had no space. The effort to manage this increases and increases.
FROM NOW I CONSIDER EVERY TX SENT WITHOUT HAVING A PLACE AS MY PERSONAL DONATION.
If you are unsure, ask first!

To make it a little easier in the new year, I've decided to do the reservations differently.
In the new year there are reservations possible for people who pay for 2, 5, 10, ... block party runs in front.
If the quota is exhausted, the place will be automatically free and someone else can use the place.

Specifically, we start with the Blockparty Run 2022-1 and if someone sends 20x 0.01 BTC at the first time, he is practically permanent until the Blockparty Run 20.
If someone joins the Blockparty Run 2022-7 and sends 10x 0.01 BTC, he will be a member until Blockparty Run 17.
This simplifies the organization and places are not permanently taken by the same people, unless someone sends 50x 0.01 BTC for the 50 planned Runs.

If we should not create at the end 2022 the Runs, for which someone already paid, the last Run in 2022 all payments are used around longer to run.

Please send reservation amounts only when you read an OK from me!

Sometime we have blocks that are very fast mined after one before (seconds) and in this case could be a block with no TX inside, only the own TX from the block

Hello All,

I'm still very Skeptical of this CGminer that I have which has been running for over a year and have not seen any results. However, when I look up my address in the pool I get the following:

{
 "hashrate1m": "0",
 "hashrate5m": "947K",
 "hashrate1hr": "3.69G",
 "hashrate1d": "704M",
 "hashrate7d": "216M",
 "lastshare": 1657558432,
 "workers": 1,
 "shares": 150000,
 "bestshare": 103846.1991319905,
 "bestever": 107075,
 "worker": [
  {
   "workername": "39****************************Y",
   "hashrate1m": "0",
   "hashrate5m": "947K",
   "hashrate1hr": "3.69G",
   "hashrate1d": "704M",
   "hashrate7d": "216M",
   "lastshare": 1657558432,
   "shares": 150000,
   "bestshare": 103846.1991319905,
   "bestever": 107075
  }
 ]
}

Is there a way to use my miner and add it to a pool that produces income daily, as opposed to waiting for the lotto??

Below is what I am using:

Raseberry PI with
LCD screen
USB ASIC Miner

Sorry for all the Newbie ?'s - I'd really like to get this thing actually making some moves instead of 0 detected new blocks message I see every day.

Thanks,

Sleuth Runner
