IEM RIO MAJOR has now concluded.

Congratulations to OUTSIDERS for bagging the IEM RIO Major 2022.

They should great mechanical skills and complete understanding of the game. They put Heroic into a clinic as they overpowered them in both maps Mirage and Overpass.

In Mirage, Heroic was still able to give a good fight but in Overpass, they are totally overwhelmed by Outsiders. Jame is extra great in the finals. He is a monster.

Honestly it was a much easier win than I expected. Outsiders just demolished Heroic by 2-0. It isn't only a demolition by this score in fact. It is the same when it comes to map scores also. 16-12 on Mirage and 16-5 on Overpass were really huge wins. Overpass was even picked by Heroic but they were really embarrassed by a solid performance by Outsiders. FL1T is very close to be chosen for the top player of the final series. His performance was really wonderful - 23 kills on Mirage, 29 kills on Overpass.

However Jame has been chosen for the MVP prize of the whole Major. I think that this is a deserved prize because his AWP skills were really impressive to watch.

That was a great show from Outsiders. This is why I'm not trusting enough of Heroic when they won against FURIA. They have their moments, but somehow they're not stable enough to win consistently. Congrats to Outsiders who literally outgunned, outmaneuvered, and outclassed Heroic in just 2 maps. You can tell that these guys grind so hard because of how smooth everything is in their execution and their retakes. 16-5 in OVP is really depressing for Heroic, considering that that map is heavily CT sided, and they didn't make something great out of it.

Yup, the first half of both maps kind of decided the outcome tbh, Outsiders looked like they were in control in both maps, and then heading into the second half it was just a matter of time until they can get to 16.

I feel dumb for taking Heroic but that's just how it is sometimes. Still happy with how many bonuses I got from the tournament though.  Tongue

Same here, well-deserved for Jame, and the AWP clutches were just insane from him throughout the tournament.

It can be prevented if the stage that they're playing on has some soundproofing into it. You notice that even the English casters can hear what the local casters are shouting, especially the crowd given how aggressive the noise cancellation of these professional casters have on their mic. Then again, who can beat the "home court advantage" anyway? It boosts the morale of the players, which arguably makes them perform a lot better and with the sound cues and all that, it makes the home team extremely easy.
But I guess the organizers know what to set up on the main stage. I think that setup is great if we're going to go back around 10 years ago when tournaments are always a hype and it's like an event that comes every now and then.

These days, that won't help and it's not a good setup on the main stage when the crowd noise will be mixing with your gameplay. Well, anyway Furia ended 3rd-4th and congratulations to Outsiders.

In Mirage, Heroic was still able to give a good fight but in Overpass, they are totally overwhelmed by Outsiders.

Now I feel stupid for taking Heroic to win the grand finale though. I totally would have gone with Outsiders to win or normal circumstances but Heroic was impressive yesterday against Furia so I thought they would have a solid chance to pull this one off again. I wished it was 3 maps though because I had another bet on over 2.5 maps but its just silly

I already saw how good they are in the game when they played C9 in the quarterfinals. They are very adept in the game, and they move as one. Jame's mechanical skills are also top notch. I know they could win against Heroic, I just did not expect them to dominate them this much. Heroic did not have much to show in Overpass. They were massacred in that map. I thought they could turn around when they switch sides and it is Heroics turn on CT but they could not do anything against Outsiders. Outsiders deserve to lift the trophy.

Heroic already achieved too much. Defeating Team Liquid in the Legends stage, then Team Spirit in the quarterfinals before dropping Furia in the Semis. It is not a bad achievement. Outsiders just have better mechanical skills, coordination, and understanding of the game. It is just not yet Heroic's time to be champion this year.

The Asia Pacific Predator League 2022 for Dota 2 didn't made that much noise since this is just for mostly SEA teams.

Link: https://liquipedia.net/dota2/Asia_Pacific_Predator_League/2022

It has ended and the grand finals winner is the team Polaris. While the 2nd place goes to the Execration. The prize money on this tournament looks good but only for the 3 teams placed at the top.

I am not even sure if Stake picked up these games for betting. I was not aware of this tournament. If I was aware I could have made some bet and posted it here.

Anyway, no major tournament for esports for a few months. I guess this thread will be silent for a while until the next major.

Any news when is the next big tournament for CS, DOTA, or LoL?

Yeah, many weren't aware of that and I just saw it happen because Predator Gaming's Facebook page has posted it and during the early stage of the tournament, it's not on liquipedia.

But when the end of the tournament was near, liquipedia updated its page and then I saw that it's there already. This thread will still be active because of roster change updates.

For Dota 2, just go to the on-going tournaments on liquipedia, there are some right now. It's not that as big as the majors but it's still entertaining to watch some of those.

Yeah just saw this event on Polaris' page but never knew it happened until I saw that FB post. Expected that not much will know about it because TI just ended and there's really not that much huge tournaments that will happen in a few months after the big event. You have the roster changes, team shuffles, pizza parties, and other such 'fun' changes in teams to get ready for the next DPC season, and the tournament isn't in DPC so it will definitely not be 'that important' to viewers.

This is the updated world ranking after leaving the Major tournament behind:

I must admit that I'm really surprised to see Outsiders at top right away. I know that Majors are the most important tournaments for teams. The more they are successful the more they get points in the end. However I didn't wait for Outsiders to go five places up already. But they totally deserve the lead in the ranking after an incredible success in the Major.

Heroic have risen the most obviously - 8 positions. There has already been a huge improvement in their effort in the recent times. I was expecting them to do a good job here but this was more than I expected from them as well. It looks like the era of NaVi - FaZe duo is closing now. Especially FaZe are a huge mess now.

Yeah, this season is all about roster changes for most of the biggest teams. And we've got something hot that has just been announced and that's the release of the roster EG (Abed, nightfall, rtz, fly, cr1t and bulba as coach).

So, the rumor was true that Evil Genuises will continue to compete but with a different roster and stack now. Their Dota 2 has been replaced and will operate now from South America.

This is the updated world ranking after leaving the Major tournament behind:

Wow! Faze dropped a lot. From top 1 to number 8.

I am kind of expecting the finalist to jump a lot in ranking since the top rankers before are all early exits. Faze, Vitality, and C9 has a series of bad tournament so I am expecting them to drop from their ranks after Rio Major.

What do you think will happen to Faze? Will there be a rebuilding after their performance in RIO?

EG officially announced that they'll be dropping their roster and their CEO dropped a hint on their next move which is likely toward a new SA team. There are also rumors about RTZ staying in the NA region which makes sense since NA doesn't look that stacked when you compare it to the EU or CN region where half of the teams are deserving to go to the major.

It's still not that bad considering they went 0-3 and Vitality dropped the same number of rankings regardless of going 1-3.

Yeah, the video seemed obvious that EG is headed into South America. I lost track already of the current situation in South America, but it seems EG will take any of the players that have been released by Thunder Awaken. I doubt they can take any of the current line-up from beastcoast.

I wonder why EG relocates to South America when they can just sign players from that region and still base themselves in North America. South America is becoming a tougher region if this becomes a reality and NA can become a haven for those players and teams wanting an easier slot at the majors and TI.

Eternal Fire are really terrible now. They have started to make changes in their roster again lately. We have seen woxic leaving the team to look for other opportunities from now on. This has made me really surprised to be honest. Because if someone was going to leave than that person should have been XANTARES definitely. Because he is like one of the best CS:GO players in the world now. He is just wasting his time with this team whose future is even ambiguous.

They played a tournament match today against HONORIS and there was some player named "hey" as a stand-in after woxic's departure. He had an average performance. However the team lost this match also by 2-1 and they were eliminated in the tournament as well. I don't see a bright future for this team to be honest.

The rumor tend to be true about EG releasing their current roster and picking up the SA team. As for these pro players, they want to stay in the NA because the competition there isn't as tough as the EU and CIS region.

I guess all of the contracts of the 6 man of EG has expired and EG has seen that they need to change their way to see some new changes of their Dota 2 team.

Good choice though as these SA players have shown that they've got what it takes to put their performances in the next level. I'm sure that they'll improve a lot having this huge org on their back.

South American teams did quite well last season and in TI so maybe EG has thought that would be better if they hire SA players to be on their roster.

We will be missing Arteezy though in EG. He has been in EG for quite some time now. Hope he finds a good team to join next DPC season. There are lots of team changing their roster, so maybe one of them will pick up Arteezy

The org has a focus on how to make money and to invest into buying and maintaining SA teams has to be much cheaper then NA.  If they can play just as well or at least gain many positions in order to improve value then any org has to be tempted to take that opportunity.  Ultimately they go where the best returns vs risk is and some places you can pay alot of money and the team falls apart because of egos, Esports is high risk imo because of that and many reasons.

I think the rise of Outsiders like this is very ironic, perhaps being cast out as it were and 'oppressed' almost literally as per their name; this helped unite and give them a greater fight when others would have slipped.  It only takes a map, slight mistakes and you lose the series maybe come 4th not 1st with a fairly massive cash difference.
