Count me in for at least 1BTC per charity. Can I get my website or company name on the list instead of my user name?

Also, is there going to be a mailing list or website for this project? I don't come to the forums often and get most of my news from Reddit.

count me in the Bitcoin100.
please add me to the list. (100 BTC max)
do i understand it correctly you can already pre-donate to the vanity address?
Yes you can. It is not decided yet which charity gets the money, so you can wait until that is decided, or you can say "screw it, any charity is a charity, and I just want this to go smoothly."

On an unrelated note, GoWest mentioned us in a blog post related to the regretsy debacle:
PayPal, Regretsy, and the Bitcoin100

So, GoWest is the culprit that's making me work this morning with having to update the OP due to our new supporters. Thank you GoWest for providing that nice piece of literature. A very good read!

@BTCurious: Thank you for taking the initiative for answering questions and addressing concerns in between myself doing such. You've done this at least once before, and hope you continue to provide that service. That said, anybody else can easily set any issues straight, if they feel so inclined, as they arise. Bitcoin100 is, without saying, a community effort. I'm just the old fart that started, now maintains it all.

Allow me to keep this as a stand alone post, while I pen a separate one for the sole purpose of thanking our new supporters.

I'm in for at least 5 BTC.  I already sent 1 BTC to the vanity address via this transaction hash:
54b1aa3b6fc52f3a212dd6eddb9af1fe27b42c91bc6ec9b27afd41ae72a14213

Thank you, clouds, for your pledge and the honoring of 1 BTC, to date.

Thank you, apetersson, for your generous pledge. As BTCurious has gracefully replied, yes you can donate to the provide vanity address. Remember, you only need to consider donating 1 BTC at a time to any given pool.

I sent in my 1 BTC: 1c2dcd570b9ad7da98ee2ce0798affd4435810789ddf910615910c0231a57c66

Thank you, coblee. The OP has been updated.

And, thank you, Boussac, for your kind donation.

Thank you, AgoraMutual, for your very generous pledge. I have linked your website from the list. I will update this list to also link other supporters to their sites. This, by the way, adds more color to the ornament. A notification process will be in place to inform supporters when a new pool is seeking funding. Perhaps, in a form of a newsletter.

Count me in. I'd like "BitcoinIntro.com" to be listed in slot 101 if possible (I see its available right now).

And finally, thank you, Tuxavant (BitcoinIntro.com), for being the latest supporter of Bitcoin100. 101 it is. With your pledge, we currently only need 28 more supports to reach the at least 100 pledger threshold.

This concludes this post, thanking all our new supporters: clouds & apetersson & coblee & Boussac & AgoraMutual & Tuxavant.

FYI, no word from Regretsy. Should I try again, or leave it be, and focus our attention on another charity?

It's not suppose to work this way! Notice all the arm twisting by Chris before brewster reluctantly agrees to trying. Perhaps, if Chris wouldn't have been so wordy with his question, brewster may have been more receptive with his answer. Let's work together and rewrite this question so that it only contains three, four max, words.

Seriously, this is great news. In fact, I just used the wayback machine prior to coming back to this thread to do the bi-daily housecleaning. It's amazing the shit you'll find on that site once you start searching. Case in point, I found... (may continue on some other thread).

Thank you, Chris, for getting the ball rollin' over at the Wayback Machine. But do consider using less words on your next target.  Wink

I'm leaning towards letting it rest a tad longer, but, others, please chime in with your opinions.

I am confused.  Who is Chris?

You think that "What is your bitcoin address for donations?" (from the blog comment section) is "so wordy"?
But, "Do you accept bitcoin donations?" (presumably your own revision) is "three, four max, words."

The first one is 7 words, the second is 5.

I must be misunderstanding you, because it looks like you think 2 words is going to make a significant difference.

Also, qxzn, who sent me a PM stating his very generous pledge. Thank you, again, gxzn.

Anybody who sends me a PM stating their pledge, but wishes me to not broadcast a thanks, please state that intention, albeit I doubt that'll happen, but wanted to state that nonetheless. I'll still add your moniker and pledge to the list of supporters in the OP, though.

I like your humor! Almost similar to my tongue-in-cheek post you're quoting--the one with the smiley wink. You'll find Chris here: http://blog.archive.org/2011/12/07/please-donate-to-the-internet-archive/ This link was provided from here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=53986.0;topicseen BTW, I did quote it correctly, and not a revision.

Hope this clears up the misunderstanding.

When I first came across this thread, I wasn't planning on joining only because there are several popular "charities" that I will not support because I feel they do more harm than good and I didn't want to have to choose between going back on my word or acting against my principles in the event that one of them was chosen as the Bitcoin100's first recipient.

I see now that I needn't have worried.

Not only do I feel comfortable donating to the charities mentioned by Phinnaeus (at least the ones that I've seen - I'll confess that I haven't read every reply in this thread), the Bitcoin100 seems likely to gravitate toward the most worthwhile of causes.

That being said, I've sent 3 BTC to the vanity donation address - one for each of my for-profit bitcoin ventures (at the moment, that's BitBrew, The Bitcoin List, and Unofficial BTC). I also pledge to send 1 additional BTC from each active, for-profit bitcoin venture I'm personally responsible for to each charity that gets my vote.

Still around.
