Yes, you’re right. Injury halts the progress of every team. Its been so unfortunate for Manchester United that with the Premier League season just eight matches in, no fewer than about 15 players have been injured or unavailable to the manager so far. The situation has ensured that Ten Hag  has been unable to pick his first choice XI once this season.
Somehow i think it’s the manager’s fault. His inability to rotate the squad cost them this. Last season, he used the same set of players in all competitions trying to win and qualify for the UCL. I can't even agree with your statement if de bruyne has only caused a little negative change for the club. De bruyne absent has been affecting the club a lot. Look at how big the contribution by him to thje manchester city since the previuos seasons.
De bruyne has been always contributing a lot in any season and he has been making so many assists and goals for manchester city even though people are always putting their focus into the haaland as a striker that was consistently scoring the goal for the club.
Haaland needs someone to support him. He can do nothing without de bruyne. Haaland's performance is not as good as last season.
It seemed to me that if haaland had been missing is aggresivity in scoring as many goals as possible. Haaland was a one tap striker. He needs someone to give him a chance.

I agree, him missing really changed their entire plan, not that they are terrible right now, I wouldn't call them doing badly neither, they are doing fine, but they really need him. I mean this is more about the system than the player as well, sure KDB is a great player but they also do not have any player like him, nobody could replace him, and not like you can get someone like him and bench them, lets assume that you bought a player that would be doing what KDB does, how are you going to convince them to just stay at the bench while KDB is playing?

You are going to just say "we will put you late in the game sometimes and you will play some FA games and that's it" and they will accept? Of course not, so they had nobody that could replace KDB and that caused the problem.
