@ Benefactor: I am sad to be the bearer:

"Dear Mark,
Thanks for your interest in the OceanCleanup. Unfortunately in this stage we cannot accept cryptographic currencies. However we are glad that you want to donate, and if you are still interested to do so, would it be possible for you to convert the unobtaniums to dollars, or any other 'regular' currency?
If so, please donate to:
Account member(IBAN): NL73 ABNA 05294 51824
Bank Name: ABN Amro
BIC: ABNANL2A
Thanks in advance!
Yours sincerely,

 Kees van Bezouw "

I am going to be my cynical self and say that if crypto isn't "normal" enough of a currency for them, then they get nothing. Sorry. I am sure there are some stupid legal loopholes or something if the donation is made directly to the foundation or what ever. If you were to donate it directly to a person, spouse or other immediate family, things might be different. I am all about working with them so that they can receive their uno, but this wasn't just a monetary donation thing for the sake of being altruistic. This was to help people who help, and to help uno while helping people. Or am i off base, and this was just a way to donate? I would have rather just donated u.s dollars if that was the case, just saying..

I am a stickler for word use. Terms like "regular" piss me off. Regular to who? Who sets these standards? That ONE word is what is making me say screw them. It is just as ignorant as saying "i only support regular marriage, between a man and a woman, ya know, regular, normal marriage." It is ignorant. Am i being ignorant with this, yeah, a little. Then the nerve to plaster your banking info there. "Sorry, your internet funny money is no good here, but if you decide to trade that in for real money, you can feel free to send that here" really? How about just, "thanks for your thoughts and considerations, unfortunately we are unable to accept cryptos, good luck with your projects and getting your coin recognition" That just rubs me the wrong way.

We can't grow when we won't criticize ourselves!

that project seemed too big for such a small (sorry) award.  i think the girl with the magnetic circuits was a better choice because she's a young technically inclined individual from MIT and not some grandiose non-profit save-the-world organization.

We all learned a lot. It brought us together, and called out some people are doing some really good things. I had never heard of most of them. Next year we can leverage our learning and make some adjustments. I'm grateful for Benefactor showing us what we can do, and organizing us around the project, oh -- and also for putting up his own funds.  Doing nothing is easy; people who put themselves out there and try to make things happen are a real treasure to any community.  And as a result of this project, needed capital will go to a worthy organization and it all started with Uno!

Still working behind the scenes on the 'Award.  We will still get what fiat funds are left after stupid friction to the winner's organization.

Paying in only UNO was an option, but I'd rather actually send a gift this year, anyway, and thereby The Unobtanium Community is in the process of donating to a real charity.

We're still working on it....

@ Public Apology: in brief, I misunderstood some stuff about how exchanges work, that some community members gotta risk coins on an exchange so there's enough for fluid trading. For a second, I was hard in my heart about the losses on Mintpal; but now I think I understand.

Sorry for your losses.

@ Australian culinary lore: in Oz, 'sprinkles' are called 'hundreds and thousands'; and a standard kid's-birthday-party food in the 60's was bread and butter with hundreds and thousands, which we call 'fairy bread.'

@Kiss my toosh: 'Somewhere it's already the 18th' is here. It's a fine Spring morning, and this guy is sitting on the windowsill about eight feet away.

Opening Special: Hedge001/IMZ for EIGHT UNO.

Guys, anyone who had traded Hedges this week would have made a fine profit. This Hedge is worth 15.4 Uno at this second! (silver is $17.28. Uno is $2.24.)

Yeah, especially since you're selling the first one for 8 $UNO. It's a great immediate return!

I'm glad you're enjoying your spring. We're seeing the last of the song birds here. Just a few young loons left, wondering where the elders flew off to.  Often they don't leave until the ice forces them to fly south, a mistake they never make twice.

Hmmm . . . this is fun: if FK has looons, he must be . . .

If edgar is 10: 00 a.m. 18th, he must be be North of me (or here in Oz)

@ FK: what a great name 'Loon' is. Australians would be delighted to have a life-form with such a silly name. And what a handsome bird!!

Once again, Happy Birthday, Unobtanium!

-

The 2014 1st Annual Blue Crypto Award

The winner of the 1st ever Blue Crypto Award is Boyan Slat for his active work on real solutions to cleaning up the world's oceans.

Mr. Slat, the Unobtanium Community salutes you!  Thank you for your invention, innovation, and service to Humanity!!!

IMZ-Mark has accepted the honor of converting the 100-UNO Award to fiat to donate to Boyan's charity organization, and will provide us with supporting proof of the transfer.

This coming week, I will offer details to review this year's 'Award, and to leave a guide for next's year's award.  This will all be found on the 'Award BCT thread, and will not be repeated, here.

A hearty THANK YOU goes out to the members of the Unobtanium Community who banded together and contributed to this year's humble Blue Crypto Award and made it possible!!!

Hey guys, I hate to throw cold water on a party, but some redditors are tracking Btc stolen from MintPal's cold storage.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/2jmuq1/help_track_3700_btc_taken_from_mintpal_by_scammer/

I'm wondering if any of you can help point me to a Uno cold storage address at MintPal?
Sadly most of my withdrawals and deposits with MintPal was between exchanges, so I don't have very good insight into where they came from/went to. I move Un all the time and sadly didn't mark my MP wallets very well, always using a different deposit addy, etc.
If anyone did a recent withdrawal from MP, would you please clue me in on the address it came from, and the transaction? I promise confidentiality.

I don't want to start a witch hunt, and I have no proof of anything right now, or even knowledge of whether or not MP had a cold storage for Uno.  But with your help I'd like to follow up on it and see if we can track down what happened.  If you lost Uno over there, you can also PM me the amount confidentially. It would be interesting to have a guestimate of what was lost.  I am record of being out 255 Uno at MintPal (could have been a lot worse).

Unlike Coinex, I don't think the altcoin community is going to let this one pass. MintPal was too important an exchange , and the criminal is just too widely known now. Any facts we as a community can present I think will be useful.

My suspicion (again no hard facts yet) is that people who did smaller withdrawals from MP had them filled from the hot wallet. Larger withdrawal attempts, like my 255 Uno, failed because they needed to tap the cold wallet.  What I would like to do is to locate the MP cold wallet for Uno (if there is one) and see what happened.

@ FK: sadly, can't help with MP addresses. Thank heaven, I lost one Uno.

@ Hedges:

Hedge001/IMZ Opening Special: 8 Uno -- and I will re-purchase it on the spot at the going rate.

All other Hedges for sale.

This is 'Phase One,' guys. 10 weeks. No one will be left with un-saleable Hedges. I will buy them all back if we need to 'unpack' the Project.
