Coaex.com is a respected precious metals retailer. After talking with Bryce Weiner, they have decided to add UNO as one of their latest payment method through CoinPayments.net!

The recent linking of precious metals and UNO is exciting.  Efforts in this area just in October include IMZ & the in-house exchange are experimenting with hedges linked to silver; BigTimeSpaghetti's solid silver UNO wallet; and now Coaex accepting UNO for metals.

I may have to spend some Unobtanium here  https://www.coaex.com

It's rare.  It's fair.  It's Unobtanium.

@ Proliferation of coins in other languages:

Guys, this is 'dilution.' We should understand it. Check this: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=192.0

You don't need to be able to speak Bahasa (Malay -- a major world-language) to figure out that this is a flood of new coins. 'Truckcoin' is '200% p.a. POS interest.'

Does anyone check crypto threads in other languages? Is this going on elswewhere?

I dunno, the price for 10 grams on ebay, the second result, assuming all gold is the same as long as it is 999 is more expensive than ten grams on coaex. I never remember them claiming to be the cheapest, rather they are accepting uno for bullion. I would rather trade my uno for gold than bitcoins. That is just me though. It is nice someone who has gold is willing to do so. Nicer that the market doesn't have to be dumped on for the exchange to take place. I recognize that it could happen then if coaex wants to cash out, but yeah, i don't have to be the one pulling the trigger.

Also, IMZ, why would i do something cray cray like sell my hedges now? I'll hold out a little longer though your offer, is of course, appreciated  Kiss !

Cryptsy is clogged up with 0.00176446 uno buy orders. Some bot is working the market. Still, nothing really to stop a run to .01, where it will meet a 11 btc sell wall.

My one-ounce silver 'coin' has arrived in Aus. from the U.S. An interesting experiment, and our first international bullion-trade.

Special thanks to Bitcoin Charlie for paying the postage out of his pocket, and for jumping through the Post Office hoops.

And: The Bullion Thing: on our end, buys, the ten-ounce silver bullion bar is our 'marker': low premium, and valuable enough to make the postage reasonable. So, if you can, report the listed prices for ten-oz bars.

Let's see how merchants affect the market price - volume 1.
We got our first order worth of $425 incl. shipping - 10 gram of gold.
Apmex' cheapest price (via Check/Bank wire) with a volume discount (10 pieces) was $432 incl. shipping to US.

As for UNO market, we cleared the buy wall at 0.076 sat, at first (2014-10-21 03:35:17 - Cryptsy time)... bought/sold around 0.0725 - 0.079. There is general perception that merchants sell at the lowest buy price they could find, which is, in fact, utterly wrong. Some would do that but in general, they buy/sell at the optimal point. If we had hold our profits in crypto for the past 6 months, our revenue would be at least twice of it. (yeah, revenue! lol)

Now BTC is moving upside, but watch out UNO's USD value in coinmarketcap, in the next few days. According to my past experiences (~35,000 USD revenue of Coaex since it's launched), the volume created should have a positive effect on the market. A $425 order create at least 1.5x of it. This should push the market above 0.08 sat even though BTC slightly moved +USD 5. Let's see..

It's a race between UNO and Ag for the next few months, isn't it?  UNO can take an early lead, but Ag can, and really should pop afterwards.  Wish I had a hedge or two, but I'm holding the 'abundance of caution' (like insurance), so can't.  Anyway, it's fun to watch, too.   Grin

(Got plenty of UNO and Ag, anyway - (sour grapes.))

These are retail industry standard prices for 10oz'ers:  http://www.apmex.com/category/25640/10-oz-silver-bars

The link should always be good for that, unless the whole industry runs out of inventory.  I've seen APMEX really low, but never empty.  They usually have a huge inventory of everything.

It's interesting that they stopped lowering their prices when Ag went below the $17 handle.  That's a very good signal that the bottom is in.

This APMEX link above is your ask, Ebay is your bid.  Wink

-

If he doesn't put you to sleep, this guy is about the best technical analyst (TA) on silver out there, but his free YouTubes are usually posted waay late.  Should be excellent to bring certainty to knowing the bottom is in, and catching the new upward trend when it is fully confirmed:  http://www.youtube.com/user/BrotherJohnF/videos

I think he said he's 40% sure the bottom is in, now, which actually isn't too great for the time being, but I only listen to the late free videos.

-

(Not sure if I get your question, though?)  [edit:  Oh, you meant for reporting value to the post office?]

I'm not sure what their premium over spot is, but I've seen these guys a lot on Ebay and for sale elsewhere. They seem very reputable:

Ya caught me, i was on the fence but saw uno rising and figured i am heavy on uno and light on gold. Also puts a nice little chunka uno in ya pocket Grin

I think the perception of merchants cashing out to fiat right away is due to 99% of the world still using fiats. It is the logical conclusion really, that business accept the coins and cash them out. That is what makes me geek out a bit more on the people who sell precious metals. It is already familiar territory for them, i would imagine. I also like to think they are the types of people more inclined to see potential for value in items given the nature of the markets they deal in.

When i think of why metals are valuable, i think because there is a fixed amount, and because the fixed amount is constantly being depleted. Uno has half that, the fixed amount. I guess one could argue that people DO lose uno. Hdd failures and such. I don't think it is to the same effect. Now if someone was to offer a service further down the line where if they are holding uno, why wouldn't it be in their interest to say, sell something for uno, then destroy the uno the received for that something. That is assuming there is a heavy demand for uno to begin with. So much so that destroying the uno would raise the value of the uno you hold more than the potential profits you could make off the destroyed uno. It seems like market manipulation, but i dunno, more sinister maybe? More organic? Now no one gets them, mwahahaha. Bury me with my unos! lol

If you're in a generous mood, please feel free to pass on a donation of Un to Blazr2, Uno's founder and a core developer.
His donation address is:

uVjbsx6tAhySeJpN7xLBieAzWcD7rEVmYp

We took up a private solicitation last week among some of the more active members here. If I missed you, no offense intended; there's still time to be generous.

I know we all want to send Blazr2 our thanks for launching our favorite coin one year ago, and also for sticking around to nurture it.

Here's to a great second year!

Thanks, Blazr!
