Part of the problem is that Manchester City are no longer the attacking force and defensive wall that they used to be. When Rodri was injured last season it exposed how vulnerable Manchester City really were.
They had plenty of players coming and going but many were not ideal replacements. Grealish at £100 million was a failure, Mahrez in 2023 and Sane in 2020 were never replaced with similar players. They knew De Bruyne was heading for an exit yet did not bring in someone to fill his role.
Buying Haaland clearly worked for them but overall their recruitment has just been
good when it should have been
excellent if they want to win the Premier League and Champions League again.
Now it can already be said that traditionally, Man City has a problem with Tottenham. You should look at the statistics, but Tottenham have a very good relationship here. They are probably extra motivated against the Manchester clubs.
