Football has gone beyond bringing in a former legendary player as that hasn't worked out well with most clubs in Europe, but I share similar sentiment with tokeweed, they gotta bring in a low-profile manager who understands modern football to build the club from the basics, I know they tried to do the same with ETH but dude wasn't ready to build instead he wanted to bring all the players he has worked with at Ajax to Manutd thinking he would him replicate the same success.
The mistake he made and the club hierarchy allowed him to make was that they knew the Dutch league is totally different to the Premier League and not all of those players would be able to make it a successful transition. He spent phenomenal amounts of money on the players he wanted therefore they are no excuses for his failures on the pitch now. He is the one that must take ownership of his mistakes.

Look at what Fabian Hürzeler is doing at Brighton, now imagine what he would do at a top club with unlimited budget. A low profile manager with no name but he's already making one for himself..
There are several examples that can be added to Fabian Hürzeler but at this stage of the season it is far too early to give him too much credit when he has taken 9 points from a possible 18 at Brighton even though their W2 D3 L1 is an impressive start for a small club. He is just 31 years old and the youngest ever Premier League manager, we do not know how he will react to failure and heavy pressure.

Having said that, I hope the smaller clubs perform well this season and upset the balance that is always in favour of the bigger clubs.

Am so much interested in Leicester City and Bournemouth game today, is round 7 of the English league Leicester City have consecutively played a both team score in their past six games since the beginning of the season, their meeting with Bournemouth i must say is an obvious both to score and may likely end in a draw game, surely it is going to be an interesting and hot match between Leicester City and Bournemouth, Leicester returning to king power stadium will definitely boost their agility as their home ground even though Bournemouth are not also doing badly but however the end shall speak best for itself, I have a strong feeling that the game will end in draw, what do you think of the match?

These are the games taking place today Saturday 5th October:

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
Arsenal vs Southampton
Brentford vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Leicester City vs Bournemouth
Manchester City vs Fulham
West Ham United vs Ipswich Town
Everton vs Newcastle United

If Liverpool drop points at Crystal Palace it will give Arsenal and Manchester City the opportunity to get maximum points in their respective games make the group tight at the top of the table.

I have a strong feeling that the game will end in draw, what do you think of the match?
If I had to choose, based on current forum I think Bournemouth should win the game.

You've got to feel bad for him, because none of the 18 players he brought (purchase + loan) has had any impact on the squad yet, except maybe Martinez. He's got a critical weekend ahead of him, and things might get tough for him if he loses to Aston Villa--a must-win game for him to give himself more time.

I'm more interested in how quickly he adapts to Brighton's customary possession from the back, which they did admirably against Chelsea; the only issue was the high defense line that they used against a very threatening Chelsea attack.

Looking forward to Crystal Palace and  Everton masterclass today.

Martinez is a brilliant player but he lacks pace therefore uses his positioning and tactical awareness to make up for it. As for the other purchases, did Ten Hag actually have any success with any of them?

Looking forward to Crystal Palace and  Everton masterclass today.
In the midday kick-off Crystal Palace are already 0-1 down against Liverpool and the first half is not over yet.

But for stability's sake bring in a decent low profile manager but never ever give him an unlimited budget.  Lol.  That's when they start making rash decisions as an unlimited budget would almost always make them acquire those over priced players who ar supposed to be at their prime but usually turn out to be flops.  It's better for a club under a rebuild to get a manager who likes to develop his own players and acquire them when they're young and cheap, making the club have a squad of younger players who are gonna gel together.  Areta did this gradually when he took over at Arsenal.

There's just no other way and it's that or it's at least a decade in limbo.  And what was the year Ferguson reitred..?

His ex-assistant Benni McCarthy left the club this summer but gave an interview criticising Ten Hag for the way he handled Ronaldo and because he lacks passion. He gave various insights within the interview but it was not groundbreaking news. I do not see how Ten Hag will remain manager for long because reports suggest the players have accepted his days are numbered and are expected to endorse Ruud van Nistelrooy to replace him.

van Nistelrooy to manage Manchester United? It would really be interesting and exciting both.  Grin  He is a legend for this team undoubtedly. Currently he is working as assistant manager there also. He already has manager experience of one season with PSV too. He did a pretty good job in the 2022/2023 season in the Eredivisie.

Thanks for the info by the way. I didn't know there was such possibility.  Smiley  I hope ten Hag says goodbye by getting a bad result against Aston Villa also. It would be more interesting to watch a Manchester United legend managing instead.

By the way new week matches have started. Liverpool lead 1-0 against Crystal Palace at halftime. It was a total domination so far. But Liverpool should keep this up. Otherwise Crystal Palace have really capable players to equalize it.

No way. He will be the 3rd Dutch guy who wants to make United great again but I'm afraid it was just a rumor and I don't really have confidence in him to train such a big club like United. However , in the next couple of years , I could see him having a chance but until then it was made even clear that the board trusts Ten Hag and won't fire him anytime soon.

Yep , it seems that Liverpool is the same old team even if they have a different coach and that is in the club identity to play offensive football.

Martinez is a brilliant player but he lacks pace therefore uses his positioning and tactical awareness to make up for it. As for the other purchases, did Ten Hag actually have any success with any of them?

Well, unfortunately none or are you going to mention Onana? I don't think so  Grin

Crystal Palace can still pull the string in the second half, you never know.

Unlimited budget aside, The most crucial element is to put together a recruitment staff to assist the manager in identifying talents; this way, the club does not rely simply on the manager's biassed selection, but rather on data. Chelsea, Arsenal, and Liverpool all have a recruiting team. Nowadays, top teams rarely offer managers unlimited power. You only work with whatever player the club provides.

These are the games taking place today Saturday 5th October:

Crystal Palace vs Liverpool
Arsenal vs Southampton
Brentford vs Wolverhampton Wanderers
Leicester City vs Bournemouth
Manchester City vs Fulham
West Ham United vs Ipswich Town
Everton vs Newcastle United

If Liverpool drop points at Crystal Palace it will give Arsenal and Manchester City the opportunity to get maximum points in their respective games make the group tight at the top of the table.
Interesting matches this season and the first half is filled with drama. Fulham is leading Manchester City in first half against popular opinion. Liverpool win narrowly and Arsenal is goalless as at 30 minutes into the match. It is possible we will be seeing a match day that did not conform to popular opinion.

I have a strong feeling that the game will end in draw, what do you think of the match?
If I had to choose, based on current forum I think Bournemouth should win the game.
[/quote]
The best prediction is a draw and that was my bet on the match. From all indications, Leicester will not yield to Bournemouth at King Power Stadium even though Bournemouth seems a little stronger this season.  Now Leicester is leading by one goal which shows that a draw is likely in this match.

Liverpool is sitting the top of the premier League table with 0-1 victory against Crystal Palace, Manchester City with 1-1 draw against Fulham in the first half quarter of the game Arsenal 0-0 draw against Southampton first half quarter of the game, the matches are truly terrifying hotter than expected, indeed all the matches in the English premiership this weekend seems to be very interesting even though Liverpool succeeded in winning crystal palace the goal was scored too early for the match to end with just 1 goal implying that it was not easy on both teams.

Here are the results of the games played today:

Crystal Palace 0-1 Liverpool
Arsenal 3-1 Southampton
Brentford 5-3 Wolverhampton Wanderers
Leicester City 1-0 Bournemouth
Manchester City 3-2 Fulham
West Ham United 4-1 Ipswich Town
Everton 0-0 Newcastle United

Liverpool are still top of the league but Arsenal and Manchester City are in joint second. Guardiola needs to tamper with his squad because Manchester City are conceding goals far too frequently. It does not look good when they scrape a home win against Fulham. Now that Rodri is unavailable for the remainder of the season, it will get worse for them

Leicester City got their first win of the season and Brentford won a goal thrilling game against Wolves.

Never in doubt that Liverpool were going to win, Rodri absence is telling on man city or will I say the whole charges on them is affecting the dressing room.

Well, whatever is happening needs to be fixed because football is better when Man city are playing at their best so we can watch how teams try to stop them from winning.

More suprise about the WestHam scoreline, wasn't expecting Ipswich to concede 4 goals, I thought they'll be playing for another draw but as they have gotten a lost, I hope it motivate them to play better in their next game.

They have been so poorly this season and might get relegated if they continue like this.

Chelsea game is today and I can't wait to watch my boys put in another 100% performance, scoring more goals and hopefully defending better too.

But a recruitment staff that really works with the manager.  Not just some guy who, yeah he prolly knows better, but the manager knows what's best for his overall philosophy and the squad.  The best example I can think of is City and Guardiola.  I think the decisions on which player to acquire are made by both the manager and whoever's in charge of recruitment.  Could be Txiki in City, not sure.

And hah, that's a decade of struggling for United...  Imagine being 12 years old at Manchester at 2014 and you start being a United fan.  Grin  The noisy neighbors are really going to sound really noisy.

The top scoring match of the week was between Brentford and Wolverhampton. There were six goals in the first half.Brentford had no trouble scoring at home.Wolverhapton suffered their sixth defeat with this defeat. They, like Southampton, are in poor form and need to pick themselves up.
Manchester City managed to beat Fulham 3-2 at home.Fulham scored the first goal, but City immediately took the lead.City went 2-1 up after Kovacic's goal and then went 3-1 up in the 82nd minute with Doku's goal.Muniz scored the decisive goal.

Well, whatever is happening needs to be fixed because football is better when Man city are playing at their best so we can watch how teams try to stop them from winning.
Well, I thought Liverpool would drop points at Crystal Palace but well done to them for getting all three. As for Manchester City, they will not be able to win the Premier League without Rodri therefore Arsenal (and maybe Liverpool) could chase them all season applying enough pressure to dislodge them in to 3rd or even 4th place.

More suprise about the WestHam scoreline, wasn't expecting Ipswich to concede 4 goals, I thought they'll be playing for another draw but as they have gotten a lost, I hope it motivate them to play better in their next game.

They have been so poorly this season and might get relegated if they continue like this.
Ipswich Town need to find form fast otherwise they will be in a relegation fight for the whole season. They did very well last season in the Championship but have failed to live up to any expectation in the Premier League.

Chelsea game is today and I can't wait to watch my boys put in another 100% performance, scoring more goals and hopefully defending better too.
If Palmer is on top form he will probably be getting at least a goal for Chelsea but that should not take away an almost certain win for Chelsea against a very good and in-form Nottingham Forest team.

These are the games taking place today Sunday 6th October. The games at Aston Villa and Chelsea kick-off at 2pm and the game at Brighton at 4.30pm. All three home teams will probably win:

Aston Villa vs Manchester United
Chelsea vs Nottingham Forest
Brighton and Hove Albion vs Tottenham Hotspur

The top scoring match of the week was between Brentford and Wolverhampton.
I need to catch up with the highlights of this game to see what happened but it must have been something special when eight goals were scored in total resulting in a 5-3 home win for Brentford.

I won't be against that. It is the truth Manchester United haven't been very lucky with Dutch managers so far.  Tongue  I still remember the van Gaal era. They weren't ever able to fight for the championship.

About van Nistelrooy, we never know anyway. It is hard to be an example like Xabi Alonso. He did the impossible in his first time.  Grin  But maybe van Nistelrooy would surprise us despite not being very experienced yet.

Aston Villa - Manchester United has been really boring so far. I hope the 2nd half would be more entertaining. I still see Aston Villa closer to scoring first.

Leicester managed to get 3 points after 6 weeks and got their first win.Leicester won at home against Bournemouth with a single goal, ending a bad run for Leicester. It should be noted that they won despite not playing a very good game.If they continue this game, they may not be able to stay in the league.
Everton and Newcastle United played out a goalless draw. In the 35th minute, Newcastle failed to score after Gordon missed a penalty and although Newcastle played a good game in this away game, they could not win.

RESULTS:

Aston Villa 0-0 Manchester United
Chelsea 1-1 Nottingham Forest

Dalot made a brilliant block in his penalty area when Aston Villa could have scored then later when Manchester United broke they should have scored and won the game but the pass by Garnacho for Fernandes was intercepted by Cash. That was all I managed to see when I managed to sit and watch.

When it ended I had a brief look at the other game which had even more time added-on, Sanchez made a brilliant save for Chelsea a the end of the game. The header from the Nottingham Forest player was on going to hit the back of the net but the excellent save kept the score 1-1.

The final game of the day will kick-off at 4.30pm

Hopefully this is Leicester City's first step in achieving further victory in this season which is considered very difficult for them, in finding points it is not easy indeed in facing the game of all Premier League clubs that continue to improve, It is true what you said if the defeat continues then most likely they will be kicked out to the second division of the Premier League, The only way is to improve the quality of their game in every match at least getting points is much more enough than not getting any points at all.
