It's really up to you,

(a) if you go trading, you need to spend some time, although you need some basic to advance technical analysis, so the risk is still there.

(b) be just an investor, buy during the dip, be a long term holder, learn how to protect your account at all cost.

So you have to see what fits your schedule here.

You're a bit late if you want to buy now since you said the market is on positive change/gains, so it's not a good timing. The best time to buy a coin is wait until it crash/dip, you'll able to gain profit. But not all times this strategy will work, especially if you buy shitcoin or Bitcoin is still Bullish.

Since you're want to buy altcoin and pretty new about this market, I advice to invest on short-mid term only. Better to choose and observe an altcoin on top 20 list.

You can outplay the growing market through trading if you have the skills and knowledge but if you don't have one, make first study trading before doing this. You need to keep updating yourself with the situation of the crypto market before you make any move. because if you rush to invest when the price is high and it will fall again sooner, you won't know until when it gets back to rise again. It is better to wait and be patient before executing your plan. You also need some goals here, Trading and investing might easy to think but they are not kid's games. You need to spend some time to be able to figure out how this market works. If you think of fast to earn money then you are wrong because most of the people has earned a lot here has spent months or even years to successfully triggered the best investment decision of their life.

I think it is better to choose short-term trading because it is a good thing when the current price, I saw some altcoins have changed, it can even be said to be high but if you don't mind then need to analyze it so don't choose the wrong one even though this sometimes doesn't work but at least watching the market move so closely.

If you want to invest then I think you need to wait for the price to fall much better than now, for me this is not left behind but too expensive if you are brave in this then holding it in bitcoin, no need for other altcoins.

Actually it depends on your budget and time. Why I said time? Cause if you choose trading, you need to devote time to monitor your asset in order to gain some profits and not to missed opportunity on sell and possible re enter again. I know its quite hard to do this if you have some job or other routine works daily maybe better to focus on investing cause it could not eat too much of your time to check price frequently.

depending on what you want, if you really want to get a fast profit then trading is the right choice, but if you want to get more profit from trading and of course with a long time, then investing is the right choice, but if I personally prefer to investing, because I don't have time to monitor the market all the time but if I invest in cryptocurrency, then I don't need to monitor the market all the time and just wait for the price to increase according to my target.

Nothing has greatly changed nowadays in choosing what to do with assets in my opinion, in case you are looking for a best strategy for yourself. There are such projects nowadays that can give you profit on trading alts and investing via staking or holding for some period of time. Both variants always have risks, and both variants may give you desired profit. You may even choose both of them, and combine them or change your strategy from time to time. But before acting learn projects in deep and of course do not spend all your assets that you have and do not ready to loose in case something will go wrong.

Yes, budget and time are very influential in this case. and maybe you also need basic skills to be able to stay profitable if you want to trade. so if you don't have enough knowledge yet, I think long term investment is preferable if the situation is favorable to make long term investment (hodlers)

Investing in projects is very interesting but all the KYC is endangering users to become victim of various sorts of scams which has made such activities unattractive.  
But I keep looking out for new, interesting Altcoins.

I like this opinion, but I try to do both. You can divide your portfolio into 2 parts. You will not touch the first part for the next 5-10 years and replenish it with cryptocurrency if necessary, for the second part of your portfolio you can use it for trading. You should consider risk management. But without knowledge in trading it is very difficult to earn money, you need to learn. If you don't want to learn, then hodling is for you.

Think deep and relax your mind first. Try to figure what gives you the most interest, trading or investment?

Definitely, you can answer it straight, and that you need to develop. I suggest sticking it first, get improve it before making another stuff. Bit of them is not a simple task to do, you will be spending more time in order to master them, and the be depending on how to treat one of them.

There's no certain time on when will the alts or even main coins/tokens will become positive to be honest. Some alts are worth trading like shorting everyday, some are good for holding and selling when the right time comes, some are good on both (ex. BTC, ETH & XRP). In short, you can do both but make sure you already know what coins/tokens to invest. Always buy the dips and have a lot of patient. Buy low, sell high, that's the most common word for trading, also make sure you store your crypto on a right & safe wallet.
